Jabba,

Weren't you going to prove something here? Wasn't that your promise in regard to your definition of the "self" and immortality? Or at least you were going to attempt to prove it?

I may have missed it: where is your undebunked proof and/or evidence?

It is where it has always been: If we will but grant him the premise that everyone has a soul and that the soul is immortal then he will have proven it. The math, the philosophy, the epiphanies, the lists -- they are all just trappings.

- As for Dr. Blackmore, she hasn't responded to my second message, but as she doesn't say anything personal in her first response, I can't believe that she would mind me sharing that response with you guys.

Endless reconstructions depending on what you're doing, mindfulness etc. A self is constructed as needed and then falls away again. The illusion is that it's the same self all through your life. I've written lots about this e.g. A very short introduction to consciousness

Here you go Jabba: http://www.amazon.com/Consciousness-A-Very-Short-Introduction/dp/0192805851

10 Buy it.

20 Wait for it to arrive.

30 Read it.

40 If you don't understand it, goto 30.

There is no way that I'd be asking her another question without reading the book.

Jabba does not have time to read it--he'll soon be asking if someone can summarize it or highlight the relevant parts for him.

It's Easter weekend. I suggest that Jabba and everyone else take the weekend off. This thread needs a break.

happy easter

:bunpan

Mrs. carlito throws out the salad remnants for our local bunnies. Neighbors aren't super happy, but I find it charming.

Given that new bunnies arrive in the yard every year around Eastertime, might one conclude that bunnies are immortal?

It is the song that never ends
Yes, it goes on and on my friend...
Some people started singing it not knowing what it was,
And they'll continue singing it forever just because . .

I've just returned home from a strange and wonderful excursion into the world of Spanish devotional fervour.

I turn on the telly and find
The Ten Commandments

They don't make movies like this nowadays [/sigh]
