Most plagues start off as "Mysterious and unknown." They remain mysterious until the cause is uncovered.

Why, exactly, do you think statements of the obvious and common count as "prophesies?"

If you google "prophecies of ama" most the top hits are links to the JREF forum discussions where we eviscerate Ama's "prophecies."

It would appear the efforts at spreading Ama's claims have resulted in the skeptics dominating any discussion of her.

No, we won't "see if the Indian prophet is right." He is wrong. There is no spreading plague. Leprosy is not mysterious and it can be cured. Psoriasis is not contagious. It is a chronic skin condition that can't be cured, but the symptoms can usually be controlled with medication. Stop clinging to the hope that the Pangasinan plague will destroy mankind. It's offensive, and it's inaccurate.

Leprosy is caused by a slow-growing type of bacteria called Mycobacterium leprae (M. leprae). Leprosy is also known as Hansen's disease, after the scientist who discovered M. leprae in 1873.

Strong religious beliefs won't stop natural disasters from occurring or shield you from harm if you're in the path of one. This world is a dangerous place and sending money to "Ama" or any other deity won't change that. You can spam "Ama's" prophecies all you want (though I wish you wouldn't), but there will still be typhoons in the Philippines and brushfires in Australia.

If the first documented case of AIDS was in 1959, how many cases would there be 20 years hence when the GOTACURAL prophecy was revealed? Were there in the millions infected in 1979? Were there in the millions dead in 1979?

PeaceCruasader, you are trying much too hard to twist reality to conform to your failed prophecy.

(A) AIDS is not nor has it ever been known as GOTACURAL -- failure.
(B) AIDS was already in known at the time of your failed prophecy. Your prophecy put it in the future -- failure.
(C) You are trying to cover your failures by introducing new criteria. Millions of deaths was not in the prophecy, now was it? Wide-spread was all that was required. AIDS was already wide-spread -- failure.

But back to these failed prophecies. Maria Liwayway Alvaran is simply following the path of every diviner I know of. By using vague threats, apocalyptic imagry and exhortations to prayer she seems to have enthralled a small number of people, though it seems the woman has less activity these days.

Because the prophecy was for "a disease known as GOTACURAL". AIDS is not known as GOTACURAL so the prophecy doesn't relate to AIDS, as was pointed out a long time ago.

Have you noticed that the "prophecies" PeaceCrusader has posted recently have been far less precise?
