What did they misidentify here?
"Sniper" without a firearm for that purpose.

Did they say it was anything more than an air gun?
No, they didn't say it's an air gun. For some reason they have left that observation to the responsibility of the viewer while misleadingly claiming that this is a "sniper" we're seeing in the video.

This is not an incriminating scene, or they wouldn't let RT film it.
Ah, so this is not *the* video you're looking for... you need some other video as a confirmation for your preconceived notion.

And I still don't get your investigative method of relying on your google-fu. You seem to google random sources and reports from the chaotic events and from those picking the ones seemingly supporting your notions. And to doubt your claims is "sticking it to Putin". Sorry, but I'm done with you and your armchair investigation by google, and rather concentrate following the current events as they're unfolding fast.

I think what's going on in Crimea is more about saving face for Putin. The Russians will most likely take control of Crimea after being 'invited' by local pro-Russian politicians and citizens in a fanfare of patriotic spin so Putin can bury the fact that his efforts to bring Ukraine back into Russian sphere of influence have been an abject failure.

The US and EU know this and will make loud diplomatic noises but do nothing so long as Putin sticks to Crimea.

Fair enough. "Sniper" is misleading. Good find.

Excuse me, I look for, and am presented with, and stumble upon, many videos. You still ignore the BBC reporter who says he saw a ....

Look. If by now you don't get why I'm totally done with you, absent a course change on your part, then oh well.

(time being irrecoverable is a big part, thx for the waste yo)

Yep, I think that's what we're seeing here. But difficult to say what will happen to Crimea. While Russia annexing it is a possibility I think it's more likely that Crimea will stay as autonomous with Ukraine. Any other outcome would be in breach of the Budapest Memorandum with assurances of territorial integrity of Ukraine, and hardly anyone will recognize independend Crimea (except Russia & the dictator pals).

Putin doubles down by sending his fav biker gang to Crimea:Russia Ups the Ante in Crimea by Sending in the ‘Night Wolves’

On a more serious note, Interfax reports that Putin has proposed to send more troops into Ukraine - "in connection with the extraordinary situation in Ukraine and the threat to the lives of Russian citizens" and to "stabilise" the situation, of course.

In other news the newly installed PM of Crimea has moved the referendum about Crimea's future to an earlier date to be held already this month instead of original May 25. With Russian troops monitoring the security of the voters I'm sure the referendum will be at least 110% fair.

The Telegraph's journalist got the Russian troops to identify their unit:
@RolandOliphant
Finally got some mystery camo guys to identify themselves. Russian 810 marine brigade out of Sevastopol. "We're just here to help."

And according to ITN's James Mates the Russian troops are patrolling in Simferopol:
‏@jamesmatesitv
Russian troops have taken over policing duties throughout Simferopol's main administrative district. Occupation now in the open

Russia’s Senate Approves Use of Military Force in Ukraine

As Russian-backed armed forces effectively seized control of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula on Saturday, President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia requested —and received — authorization from the Russian Senate to use military force in Ukraine.

And in the meantime, our resident "anti-imperialists" are busy scouring YouTube videos for evidence of false-flag sniper attacks to prove that the protesters are really Nazi puppets of the West.

The last part is a bit facetious-sounding, but otherwise, spot-on. Video, details, facts, lining up with intuition, as it has so many times before. And it's getting towards proof quicker than I expected.

Gloss over details all you like and enjoy sticking it to HIM in vague comfort.

Above, oh, look who's suddenly scouring random videos for spot-the-tank in Crimea

....I noticed the same thing, the near total lack of display of Nazi imagery this time, and it's one of my very clues that the Nazi contingent was there, larger and better-planned than usual,

The visible lack of Nazi symbols was proof that there were many Nazis. You now, there is a CT forum, you might get a better response by posting over there. Seriously, you are proposing a CT, you might as well accuse the Lizard people of being the snipers.

12:51: Kateryna Kruk, The Guardian tweets: "Snipers are shooting from from Hotel Ukraina and Instytutsjka, more dead around"

1:04: "A sniper is operating near Hotel Ukraine. Be careful! Already dozens of wounded and, tragically, 3 dead. Please bring ambulances as close to Hotel Ukraine as possible, to bring out the wounded."

1:31: The lobby of the Ukraina hotel - overlooking Independence Square - has been turned into an impromptu morgue, AP reports, with the bodies of seven dead protesters laying side by side under white sheets on the marble floor in front of the reception desk.

12:22 = 2:22: Erin Alexis tweets: Situation in #Ukraine horrifying. Reports of #doctors being shot by snipers as they care for the wounded. Terrible.

1:21: One of the three top opposition leaders in Ukraine - Arseniy Yatsenyuk - says snipers are firing at protesters from the Ukraina hotel, which dominates Independence Square.

Huh, same time frame as the above stuff, with the insurgent front line established right in sniper range from the hotel as well, but untouched.

Just in case 3-D reality matters to anyone, these details are coming together none too convenient for the insurgent narrative, nor for Ukraine's future and kind of everyone's. I know this is a sticking it to Putin moment, but can it be cut a little short? A little bit of serious attention here might be in order.

So, the insurgents controlled the lower floors of the building, but Berkut controlled the upper floors. If they shut down the elevators, Berkut would only need to hold the stairwells to hold their position. A stairwell would be an easy thing to hold.

In the real world, some of the Russian troops have identified themselves as such to the reporters, and other people are starting to piece together which unit is which:

1525: Daniel Sandford

tweets: Most Russian military plates we have seen were number 90. The APCs (armoured personnel carriers) in Balaclava are number 21. Different unit.

Supporting evidence. No one has a better theory where they went of to that day of all days. Ice cream social somewhere?

Seriously, the "Ukranian govt." has a CT that the old president conspired to murder innocent protesters in this stupid way, sent it to the ICC. I say it warrants scrutiny as a current (alleged) event, and I'm looking at videos and first-hand reports of current events and trying to piece together which CT makes more sense. Am I trying too hard? Sure? Who's doing all they can to make it harder and harder? Other people! Who's helping? You, a bit. A couple others, at least not being as big of ***** as they could be.

So, the insurgents controlled the lower floors of the building, but Berkut controlled the upper floors. If they shut down the elevators, Berkut would only need to hold the stairwells to hold their position. A stairwell would be an easy thing to hold.
I want to just say b/s but that's because I let people make me grumpy and it's late. To encourage your engagement with these complex facts worth sussing out, I'll come back to this tomorrow/later. If you can improve the theory by then, cool. I think as is it will have problems meshing with other facts but I can't explore that right now.

In the real world, some of the Russian troops have identified themselves as such to the reporters, and other people are starting to piece together which unit is which:

I don't deny any of this, nor have I followed it or questioned it. The real world is big enough for a full-on Russian invasion perhaps, and a deceitful putsch with false flag snipers and Nazi muscle mobs that precipitated it.

There's nothing wrong with the status quo of Crimea to Russia. The latest 25-years contracts for their marine base are just three years old. I'm not sure if they even want anything to fall to them, not for the hassle.
You are pro-imperialism now?
