Maybe in their world that makes him family.

I think that Rudy Guede would fit in nicely with the family of PMF .nuts + .orgy members!

When I look at the murder scene photos I see a bloody towel lying on the floor near Miss Kercher's brutal neck wound and then see a much cleaner towel, only slightly bloody, lying on her bed, we all know that poor Rudy tried to save Meredith after Mez was stabbed by "That whore of a doper" before he cleaned up + went out nightclub dancing.

I'm sure these 2 fine Amanda Knox hate sites would welcome Rudy Guede's input too...

We should NOT attack Meredeth's family in this manner.
Call them on a witch hunt for Ms Knox is fine and I think that can be supported easily.

We need to keep Amanda from getting extradited back to Italy when it comes time and this could theoretically hurt that. We need to keep American opinion that Amanda is innocent.

This is the essence of the whole thing for me.

I wish that guilters would attempt a timeline of the crime... at least attempt one. Because the case, as put forth before Matteini, is now non-existent. Not even Crini argued it. For sure the ISC will be receiving a motivations report fro Nencini which will describe a very different scenario on which we're supposed to see as "guilt beyond a reasonable doubt".

Can ANYONE list the points in Matteini which are still in play?

- Sollecito states that he does not remember if Knox stayed with him or went out that night. (This point has been cleared up ad naseum)

- The supposed conflict between Raff's dad's calls and his computer activity. Too bad the PLE destroyed Raff's computer!

- The timing of the 112 calls? Even Massei says that Raff called the Carabinieri before the Postals arrived.

- Raffaele said he likes knives.

What else was in Matteini? Where are these points in the legal process now, a process hurdling towards conviction?

IIRC - There was the claim by ILE that part of AK's alibi was a lie that she was reading a Harry Potter book (in German) to Raf at his apartment. They claimed there was no Potter book at Raf's. Then viola! - there it was plain as day on a table in the apartment as seen on ILE's own video of the apartment.
As LJ has said many times the incompetence of the Perugia cops makes the Keystone Kops of silent movie fame look like the FBI.

I had made a note of that in my wiki:

A copy of "Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen" is shown in police video taken at Sollecito's apartment on November 16, 2007. On December 18, 2007, another Harry Potter book, also in German, "Harry Potter - und der Orden des Phönix", was found in Amanda's room at the cottage where the murder took place.

Police video Sollecito's apartment November 16, 2007

  • 00:08 = 14:13:47 Harry Potter book on wine rack in kitchen with new mail, ribbon and water bottle. language of this book is not apparent
  • 24:59 = 15:12:21 View of computer desk with Harry Potter book on first shelf
  • 26:48 = 15:14:34 Harry Potter book on shelf with condoms definitely German
  • 27:36 = 15:16:46 A better view of book on shelf

Around December 2009 I saw a clip of the above video that was floating around YouTube refuting the claim made by the police.

ETA: I am always rechecking my facts and looking at the photo from Amanda's room on December 18 is of "Harry Potter und die Kammer des Schreckens" is on the bed and then put into the evidence bag. (This same book can also be spotted on the shelf above the bed on November 2).

I thought it was pretty cool that the intrepid detectives succeeded in finding her clothes - on her bed!:jaw-dropp. If only they has left her lamp in there they could have used it to speed up the search.

Still waiting for the fibre analysis in this case btw.

Pfffft. Quite the lofty goal. Good luck with that

So why cannot you accept that she is not guilty when there is no evidence of her guilt?
Or do you just enjoy watching innocent people being punished?

Americans have notoriously short attention spans. The masses don't care about Amanda Knox anymore.

Doesn't matter which side you or I are on... Amanda Knox is old news. She no longer attracts the ratings she once did.
It's all about Bruce Jenners face and J-lo's butt this week.

Lets assume you are right and that Americans have forgotten about her.
That does not make it right to abandon her to a fate that she does not deserve.
It does not mean we should be stupid and make ourselves out to be the bad guys by defending her.

To a certain degree you are right. This story has to be wearing thin. It's only been going on for more than a half a decade. It started off like a cheap trashy sexy book..then everyone was interested, then it was a the girl next door caught in a Kafka book and still a lot of people were interested. Most of the public doesn't have a clue about the details and a lot of people have tired of the story. I certainly have.

That said, this isn't over.

That is probably the best news Amanda and her family will have heard in a long time. If it weren't for news and ratings, this case might have been over in 2008.

She really needs to be forgotten about in Italy.

That would make it a lot easier for the judges to do the right thing. If we could get another scandal going over there, they could acquit while nobody is looking.

I was listening to a documentary on Aerolinee Itavia Flight 870.
The evidence indicates that it probably had a bomb onboard.
The Supreme Court declared against the evidence that a missile shot it down.
Strange decisions against the evidence seem to be common from them.

Interesting. I didn't know anything about it. So, I looked around and found this:

This might be what you saw. It is a cheesy program with the world's worst reenactments, but still worth watching for the content.

If the Italian Supreme Court had ruled that a missile cannot be ruled out, I would have far less problem with arguing "It is certainly a missile" when it is against the expert's opinions.

In my opinion, she needs to stop blogging and holding up signs saying she's innocent. I don't know who's advising her, if anyone, but I would have thought the less said the better.

Same argument has been used against just about every group fighting for civil rights. . . Never works.

Does it work with James Randi and woo? If he just shuts up about psychic frauds, will they just go away?
No. . . .

If somebody can be persuaded to at least look at her case with an even slightly open mind, they will likely swing to the innocence side as well.

Being honest, Italy is going to be the one to lose here. If you had a child wanting to study in Italy, after this case you likely will try to persuade them otherwise.

A supreme court that rules on something like 80,000 cases a year, which whatever it means must process the filings on 80,000 cases a year, cannot stude/comprehend the issues of complex cases. (To compare workload, the US Supreme Court hears about 80 cases a year.)

In ruling on the Kercher murder, the court went beyond looking at how law was applied and directed the Nencini court to examine and justify an unproven but osmotically convenient sex orgy story. The Supreme Court also tasked the Nencini court to reconcile the current case before it with the finding of multiple killers in Guede's separate trial where Knox and Sollecito were not defendants and had no representation or rights to challenge the shared interests of the prosecution and Guede's defense counsel. In that separated fast-track trial, both the prosecution and Guede's attorney found it in their mutual interest to find (falsely) that 'Knox and Sollecito did it and that Guede was just a bit player', rather than the lone killer.

Clearly a prosecutor appealing a verdict of innocent to the Supreme Court has to get to/persuade a (friend/crony?) judge or two to go with the prosecutor's version and feed his clerk the story. Get the judge and his helper on board. With 80,000 cases, the "court" (meaning many judges) cannot possibly delve into the issues and comprehend a lengthy or complex case. I believe the way it must really work in practice is that one or two judges "take ownership" of a favored case and, given the workload, other judges acquiesce to what the one or two invested judges want done.
