Things would end pretty much like this:
...with a train of pervert boats following them everywhere.
Why does that video refer to the rounds being "Good old American tungsten"? I'm pretty sure that Tungsten generally comes from China. You're probably destroying Iranian shipping with Good Old Chinese Tungsten.Things would end pretty much like this:
"To Iranian vessel, this is United States vessel. Do you require assistance?"
"United States vessel, this is Iranian vessel. We do not require assistance at this time."
"Iranian vessel, this is United States vessel. So your ship is supposed to look like that?"
I give 'em props for that as well. And it's just a statement, let 'em do it. Maybe the crews are enjoying it too, bit of scenery change.
But... has the question of "Can they supply them?" been decided?![]()
I would find this statement highly offensive if it weren't so true.As for the targets, I mean Iranian ships, they can read Jane's as well as the next person, so they know they're alive anywhere on the planet only with our permission.
The solution is for us to help them, visibly, publically, obviously, on TV.
"We're sorry you're out of bunker oil, here would you like to buy some?"
"How about some fresh vegetables, and something with some vitamin C in it?"
"Would you like a quick tow back into the Med?"
I would find this statement highly offensive if it weren't so true.
To be honest, I think it's probably worth bragging about. Having a system of naval operations capable of deploying a vessel on a long-range cruise is no mean feat. It is a notably first-world privilege to have navies of such size and power that we are able to take such a thing for granted. And apparently even the US Navy has ships that cannot deploy across the Gulf of Mexico without breaking down.
Can the Iranian navy go toe to toe with the US navy, at home or abroad? Probably not. Is it still a feat worth boasting about, to deploy a naval vessel from Iran to US territorial waters? I think so.
Things would end pretty much like this:
Is it such an accomplishment? I mean, they wont be fighting or have the ability to meaningfully project power so there's no need for hefty resupply or repair/refit capability ...
Is it such an accomplishment? I mean, they wont be fighting or have the ability to meaningfully project power so there's no need for hefty resupply or repair/refit capability (so it's less remarkable than say, Drake's cruising in the 1500's). Perhaps it's more akin to the difficulty level of running a very small cruise ship (but far less mouths to feed and presumably less picky mouths, so still not as difficult).
No, it's not. Tramp steamers and private yachts do it all the time.To be honest, I think it's probably worth bragging about.

I really don't hold it against them for wanting to make a statement like this as long as they don't push too far, like the comment about blockading the Gulf.
There probably already is one, it is just submerged.
Doubt there are perverts involved, but there's probably one shadowing them right now. My guess it is one that doesn't need to surface, goes faster than the Frigate, and has more teeth than a great white.
And if I had a yacht, I'd like it heavily armed, but I don't think I'd be allowed. I don't see anyone telling Iran their Naval vessel has to disarm. Apples and oranges, eh?
My Jetski can do 54MPH, and it's small and old. Newer ones can go in the 70's. Cigarette boats top 100MPH easily. How many warships do you know that can maintain those speeds?A warship of even modest size would overmatch a speed boat with a bunch of civilians in it.
