Time for some TRAFFIC!

Christie now claims that he didn't even know about that memo, and some low level dude did it and that horrible person has been fired.

That's quite amazing. Someone other than Christie thought to include that HS stuff. We might never know for sure. But Christie ain't getting no benefit of the doubt from me. Not based on his general credibility. Why am I starting to think, that with all the peevish behavior of the Christie team, the most peevish punk-ass jock president of a HS class of them all is the boss?

Sokolich told the newspaper he had lunch with Christie at the governor's residence, Drumthwacket, along with Hoboken, N.J. Mayor Dawn Zimmer.
I'd love to have been a fly on the wall for that lunch.

So many subtle potential smoking guns, or time bombs just layin' in the bushes. I remember Sokolich, after his almost avuncular one-on-one meeting with Christie to accept the famous apology in Fort Lee, stating his first order of business: he got the governor's assurances that there would be no [further] retribution against Fort Lee for anything he might say. I thought, "Huh?"

Then, there's Christie's firing much of his crack staff for lying. Zut alors! You have lied, you're out! Ok, what did they lie about specifically? That remains a mystery to me at least. The lie could well have been "No, governor, this will never lead back to you. We have covered all the bases on the lane closure project. You will have full deniability, as usual."

I'm being just a bit of a cynic here, but I'm seeing a pattern in his shenanigans. I agree with those who, even as democrats, somehow have to quietly lament the obvious shift in image of a potentially realistic republican candidate without much of the style of baggage of current hopefuls.

Damn, too late to edit that post. It should have read:

Also, that hilarious rant against Wildstein that claimed, among other things, that Sokolich Wildstein was accused by his high school teacher of being deceptive? Christie now claims that he didn't even know about that memo, and some low level dude did it and that horrible person has been fired.

I don't know if anyone watches "Morning Joe," or if I'm the only one, but... Christie's support even there is starting to loosen considerably. This morning he was dinged by Scarborough over a) the amateurish Wildstein attack memo and b) Republican candidates bailing on RGA fundraising events with the chairman of the RGA (Christie) in Florida, in Texas and now in Illinois.

It just goes to show how the long fall of a high climber makes for a big splat.

Speaking of being up high...Do helicopter records show Christie flew over the lane closures on 9/11?

If true, just the image would conjure up memories of Bush's flyover of Katrina damage.

As some posters here at JREF who admire Christie have essentially crowed, he may be a bully, but he's our bully. But when this basically unfair behavior hits home, then it might just be time to sit back and reconsider one's entire philosophy of political power.

I think this editorial says it all, concerning Christie's behavior.

New Jersey newspaper regrets endorsing Christie

Members of the Newark Star-Ledger’s editorial board said they understood the “bully” side of the Republican candidate, but did not believe his characteristic would cause harm to people as it did in last September’s traffic jam.

“An endorsement is not a love embrace. It is a choice between two flawed human beings. And the winner is often the less bad option,” Tom Moran, editor of the editorial page, wrote in an article published in the newspaper on Sunday.
“But yes, we blew this one,” he added.

They've issued 18 new subpoenas and they are now considering contempt charges.

The Christie Doomsday clock is at 11:22pm and ticking.

Not his best work. Everyone knows you only write "Benghazi" like this...

BENGHAZI!!!ELEVENTY!11!

Right, or you could use Rand Paul's line about Clinton.

Rand Paul's twisted logic:

Democrat Bill Clinton sex with 22 year old Monica Lewinsky = sexual predator.
Republican Ted Nugent sex with 17 year old Pele Massa = no big deal.

Question: Is Rand Paul aware that he is a hypocrite or is he just stupid?

He's stupid either way because Lewinski was a willing adult.

And in the latest answer to the question at an economics conference this morning, Christie continues playing the victim of his disappointing staff and the martyr who is soldiering on.

Christie is now trying to invoke Executive Privilege and is attempting to strong-arm the mayor of Hoboken. The Christie Doomsday clock has reached 11:25pm.

I thought he promised to cooperate with the investigation. I thought he said he wanted to get to the bottom of this.

I've got this bridge to Fort Lee. Today only, you can get it for an unbelievable price!

Christie's idea of cooperation, apparently:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s former campaign manager told lawmakers investigating the George Washington Bridge lane closures scandal today that their probe is invalid and political and he will not hand over the subpoenaed documents under any circumstances.

The New Jersey legislative committee probing the issue authorized motions last week to try and force Bill Stepien to turn over subpoenaed documents, but Stepien’s attorney has issued a forceful response, again refusing to turn over any of the requested documents.

This will be tedious.

Since when did something being "political" invalidate a subpoena.
