State of the Union Response: Will Anyone Survive?

I was wondering whether she may have had trouble reading it, emphasis and focus was off at times, because it was not her writing, but something about it told me it would have been more likely she had written it. I don't know for sure, so yes, fair point.

There was definitely something Stepford Wife-ish about the whole thing, wasn't there? Do you suppose she read that fluff off a (gasp!!) teleprompter? Heaven forfend- what will Sarah Palin think?

The one speech that did not disappoint me was Rand Paul. He showed with no uncertainty that he is completely out of touch with reality and has no chance of ever, ever, ever being elected President. On the other hand, the setting for his speech made it clear that he is planning to run for an executive office. I guess this could either be governor or president.

I got a letter from Rand Paul yesterday. The first sentence was "I am a doctor, not a politician." I threw it in the trash without reading the rest.

Good call. The fact that he didn't begin with "Dammit, Jim" means he's completely unfit for public office.

You hear that line a lot here in south Mississippi- "now, folks, I'm a [usually something that sounds like "one of you"], not a politician, so please elect me to this here political office, ok?" It plays well with the folks who need to buy from their candidate the self-serving proclamation that his being one thing they may admire somehow necessarily excludes him from ever being something he's told them they should despise.

Sorry, Dr. Senator Paul- if you ran for, and were elected to, a political office espousing the political principles of a particular political party, then you are, by definition, a politician. Being also a doctor doesn't automatically cancel that out.

Especially if said doctor must make up his own licensing board in order to be "board certified". Apparently he is a ****** doctor at that.

Well, that was a very good speech and I'm not seeing much room for a reply. The smart move would be to keep the reply short and do counter challenges. However, with three responses I'm guessing that the official one will be poor because it will go too far and the other two will be even worse.

If they want to "respond" to the SotU speech, let them do that. But why do they get three responses? Did these same media outlets give the democrats two addition responses? Maybe they did. It was past my bedtime.

Did they? I remember a few years ago when Bachman webcast hers. I didn't think Rand Pauls was broadcast on any media outlet just part of discussions.

Apparently, she went to a creepy uber Christian college, so you may be on to something there.
