Ham's Creationist park in financial trouble?

Fairly typical for a new Museum. They surge out of the gate real strong, but then falter - especially if they do not adapt and add new exhibits, etc. I don't know what more a silly creationist museum could add to their exhibits. As I understand it they were trying to add amusement park rides and the like which makes them Bibleland Redux.

They could have an historically accurate reproduction and interactive version of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Maybe a "Jesus being Scourged" exhibit where you get to lay on a little lash to exemplify your human nature.

Then there's the "Carry the Cross" real life bible encounter where a heavy cross beam is lashed to your back and who ever carries it the fartherest loves Jesus the most.

I'd like to see the "Damascus Experience", a guard knocks you out and fills you full of hallucinogens til you see Jesus.

(May want to touch bases with the lawyers about the wording of the consent form on this one)

I wonder what he pays himself.

If he's smart $0, it's much better to take a housing allowance, traveling expenses, and all the other perks as well as a generous retirement account, no need to spend your own money when you have a church to do it for you.

"What site are you describing?
My understanding is that construction of the Ark Encounter theme park hasn't even been started yet.

ETA: Are you talking about the Creation Museum?"

I'm referring to the whole shabang "the CM and Ark park" as a scam on the taxpayers of Kentucky.

Yep, as it will be an expansion of the CM, built on the eastern side of the parking lot on ground they already own, it can only be considered as a package.

Personally, I think Ham saw "The Producers" and realized an expansion to his dying Creation Museum had the potential to be his very own "Springtime for Hitler." He'd already saturated the meager market. The amusement park extensions to the Creation Museum had proven a half-assed theme park like his simply did not compete with an actual amusement park. An expansion would be the exact kind of egotistical, misguided and doomed project he could use to squeeze donations from the naive.

Perhaps the scam is to keep the Creation "Museum" afloat. Perhaps it's to line his own pockets. Regardless, I doubt Ham expected the ark to be built, let alone turn a profit. The big giveaway for me was when he went for the tax benefits, which made his organization beholden to laws against discrimination in hiring. He set up a guaranteed scapegoat for the inevitable failure of the park, Non-christian employees "liberal" state laws "forced" them to hire.

It turns out Ham managed to tank the project before needing to play that card. All he has to do is keep coming up with reasons why they need more money before they can break ground. Either the project will "die" and he'll come up with some excuse for keeping most or all the money, or it will be strung along for decades, Duke Nukem style, an ongoing, rolling fundraiser that will never quite reach its goal.

(a) Female visitors may be kidnapped and sold into slavery at any time.

(b) The ritually unclean will be given torn clothes and a special Leviticus 13:45 park pass! Please display any skin sores, menstrual blood, or purulent discharges when you buy your ticket.

(c) All aboard for a Special Intercessionary Prayer day! On May 3rd we will attempt to gather 400 Christians to pray for the destruction of the NCSE by lightning and hail. Free with admission.

How do you realize the "turn into a salt pillar" thing? :)

LOL. There's plenty to go around from the OT, though.

Ten Plagues. Don't forget to bring your lamb's blood, lest your oldest kid might find itself killed.

Exodus part 1. Scratch your ticket to see if you're going to play Egyptian or Israelite in Pharaoh's chase after the leaving Israelites.

Exodus part 2. Check out our maze which will take you 40 years to find the exit. Free manna provided.

Golden Calf. First do our exciting Bible quiz to see if you qualify to play the part of Levite, or even of Moses, in this exciting Biblical adventure.

Really? :D

According to Ham it's all the atheists fault

Please be aware that the associated complications and struggles have been beyond our control. The battles were another reminder of the truth of Ephesians 6:12: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

As you have read in some of my prior emails, many challenges and road blocks came up as we worked through the stages of the bond offering and the first closing. From atheists attempting to register for the bond offering and disrupting it, to secular bloggers and reporters writing very misleading and inaccurate articles about the bonds, to brokerage firms saying “yes” but after reading these incorrect reports saying “no” in allowing the Ark bonds into their client accounts—the obstacles were numerous and disruptive. Frankly, it has been an extremely stressful and frustrating time for all of us.

For many of you, I know this may have caused some confusion, extra steps, and even frustration, which perhaps led you to not be able to move forward or to have doubts about participating in the Ark bond offering.

Several persons directly involved in the Ark bonds process have indicated to us that they have never experienced the level of opposition as we have encountered. It’s an indication of the immense spiritual battle we are in, as per Ephesians 6 above.

As I’ve written to you before, the attacks we have seen on the Ark bond offering have just confirmed for me that the Enemy does not want this project to go ahead. Actually, though, the opposition just encourages me. You see, if we weren’t involved in a vital Bible-proclaiming outreach that should have a massive impact on the hearts and lives of countless people, I don’t believe we would see this sort of opposition.

I resent this. Duke Nukem was a real product. Not some faery tale.

ETA: It's not 2000 years overdue yet either.
