In a way I am not convinced that Ka Apaz is playing PC for a fool. I think she believes it herself, she might really think that a spirit takes over. It is not uncommon for older religious females to become convinced that their god speaks through them, it might give them some of the attention and respect they crave. And PC swallowed it hook, line and sinker because he really wants it to be true. And now the followers and herself have devoted so much time and effort to it, that they are forced to keep believing it.
