I received an email today from a member of Browne's family stating that she passed away this morning at 5am. I would think that it was related to her recent strokes, but do not know that for a fact.

I would discourage one and all from any snarky comments. Whatever else may be said of her, she is survived by family members who I think deserve to mourn her passing without hearing of snarky comments about her passing.

Sorry, just because someone is dead doesn't rehabilitate them. She was a horrible person in life and death hasn't changed that. Her family may mourn her but the world is just a little better off without her conning people.

While I don't personally feel the need to rejoice, I think it's fair game to say anything about SB now that she's dead that we would when she was alive.

Also, if you really believe in her life's work then there's no need to mourn. She should be completely capable of continuing to communicate through anyone with the psychic powers that she allegedly had.

CNN is not reporting it, so I would say it's unlikely.

Anyway, you are far too kind. Sylvia Browne has lied to and cheated people for decades and has badly hurt suffering people with her lies. She deserves nothing but ridicule and scorn and the fact that she may be dead doesn't change that one bit.

Didn't she predict the date of her own death? How close was she?

My first reaction was that it seems very sudden. Second thought was well, maybe that explains shutting down her office. I'm guessing she was much worse off than was being publicized.

According to her Wikipedia page, she predicted her own death at the age of 88- which means that she's 11 years shy.

Robert, do you have any confirmation of this news other than what you heard from SB's family?

I don't know why CNN should be aware of it.

What she deserves was not my point.

What her family - including her young grandchildren - deserves, and what is just decent behavior, was my point.

I believe she has been quoted as saying that she would die at the age of 88. She has apparently died at the age of 77.

I would expect her supporters, if confronted with this, would bring up her oft-repeated statement that she could not be psychic about herself (which does not explain why she would claim to know when she would die). I would also not be surprised to hear them trying to make some point out of the fact that both "88" and "77" are doubles of one digit.

Sudden to the general public, perhaps. But to any of her fans (or detractors) who have noticed the years of decline in her health, including a heart attack on stage in 2011, her having been in a wheelchair for many years now, her recent cancelation/postponement of several upcoming engagements for "health reasons", and yes, the building housing her headquarters being put up for sale, and the recent rumors of her having experienced multiple strokes, this is not "sudden" at all.

So, is it Chris' torch to carry? He's been a co-author and companion psychic, but does he have the gumption and empathy-deficit to take the family con game on his shoulders alone?

Chris, and perhaps her granddaughter Angelia.

I have been told that Chris is soured on the psychic game, but I have also been told that he is hooked on the income it brings, so who knows?
