Continuation Part Six: Discussion of the Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito case

It appears that he then took all three of the white towels in the bathroom into Meredith's room, and Amanda didn't notice they'd gone before she stepped into the shower the next morning.

Rudy sure left Amanda "hanging out to dry" - and I don't mean just by taking the towels.

Of course he's not. He's into the Foxy Knoxy jerk-off fantasy. Can't you tell? This is exasperating to anyone who knows her at all. I didn't before this whole thing happened. I don't know her well now, but enough to know she is not a party girl by any means, not even close. She's friendly, but she is also introspective and somewhat bookish.

She enjoyed smoking a little dope.

Presumably she enjoys sex, a good meal, a good night's sleep... being as how she's a mammal and all.

:D :o :o :D

I don't even think it's Knox that drives him to all this sex talk (dirty girl fantasy). I actually believe some PGP get their rocks off on saying things like this for attention they never got from Mommy. Why else would one volunteer to play pivot in this circle?

It's like they have an Amanda Knox Voo Doo sex doll that they stick with needles (by saying provocative things about her) so they can sit back and feed off our reaction. That's more important than Knox or Merideth is to them.

G.Hampkin's not what they need. They need a different kind of Dr. It's called a shrink !!!

To be fair... There are a few PGP that don't behave this way on the JREF forum. So I shouldn't say all PGP.

Don't Stefanoni Me!

I never knew how the phone tapping played into this. Before I read this post, I thought that the bra clasp DNA was probably just bad luck. Now I think that there is a very substantial chance of evidence tampering.

Bad luck??? I don't believe Stefanoni went to the house in Perugia on Dec. 18 to collect the bra clasp on the off chance that it might have Raffele's DNA on it. The police and prosecutor needed physical evidence to pin the crime on Raffaele. Their shoeprint claims were about to be exposed as false. There is no way that Stefanoni was going to fetch the bra clasp, bring it back to her lab in Rome, and discover it had nothing of Raffaele's on it.

The interesting thing is that Stefanoni has never been scrutinized before the way she is now. (This is due to the power of the internet.) Her poor evidence handling, collection, and storage techniques; pseudo-scientific ("too low, too low") lab processes; false data interpretation; and "trust me - I'm objective" claims are being scrutinized and exposed for the first time.

Videos of her work and transcripts of her testimony will eventually be used in high school and university lab science curriculum as examples of what not to do.

Here's a little "off-the-wall-ism";

Guede not only went to a disco on the night of the murder (Thursday night), but the next night as well, before he fled on the Saturday.

On that second night, it was reported that he "smelled bad".

Are we to imagine he hadn't bathed, or changed his clothes?

Absurd.

I think that smell was coming from his right shoe, in which blood had soaked into the lining, practically untouched by his cursory rinsing under the shower a little over 24 hours earlier, and which was fermenting with his foot-sweat.

Seriously! Have you ever noticed how bad some people's feet can smell, even without blood soaked into their shoes?

Apologies to anyone who happens to be eating.

That plus he doesn't wipe or flush.... Ladies man ...my foot ! ! !

Has it ever occurred to any of you guys who are really au fait with this case to write their own book about it? Not the personalities or the gossip, but the Actual. Bloody. Evidence?

If I can do it for Lockerbie, one of you guys, or maybe a partnership, could do it for the Kercher case. Or are you gathering material and waiting for the final verdict?

Rolfe.
I thought about dragging Rose into a project like this, but as you know http://www.amazon.com/Jade-Rose-Montague-ebook/dp/B00GKRO8SM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384376629&sr=8-1&keywords=rose+montague+jade Rose is busy organizing a party on Saturday https://www.facebook.com/events/438142859629022/?ref=22 (congrats Rose:))
I'm definitely "gathering material" (newest source here: http://www.amandaknox.com/the-meredith-kercher-murder/ )
But if there is a book to be written, I could think about a few here, you included, I'd ask for participation...(and translation ;) )

Dance Fever

Guede not only went to a disco on the night of the murder (Thursday night), but the next night as well, before he fled on the Saturday.

On the second night the club stopped the music and asked everyone to pause for a moment of silence in memory of Meredith. Everyone stopped but Rudy, who conspicuously remained on the dance floor dancing by himself.

More than a book, I think someone should create a factual, full-length documentary from the videos, tabloid headlines, photographs, interviews, and blog posts to show what happened. No actors. Videos of real events. It can then be translated into Italian and Italians can view it online without fear of calunia.

Here is a powerful picture that should be in the documentary: http://ww3.hdnux.com/photos/02/45/70/679426/3/628x471.jpg

Maybe Machiavelli will consent to be interviewed on camera calling C & V criminals and saying that Hellman was bribed by the Masons. If he won't agree, his written posts can still be shown in the documentary as a narrator explains what this is all about.

acbytesla,
Last minute change. The coven is still meeting tonight a 7, but we've changed the location. The coven is now meeting in conference room 16 at the Boeing plant. There is plenty of parking; the room is right across the hall from the broom closet. Wear black.

Mary is bringing her tarantula collection.

Strozzi

I buy them in bulk at Costco (also founded in Seattle).

Indeed. But to be precise, he continued "swaying" in the silence to an imaginary rhythm.

One. Sick. Bastard.

You know they ship them UPS from Mexico? Also founded in Seattle.

What do they make in Perugia Mach?

Chocolate. They have world-class chocolate in Perugia.

It's actually a really cool city. It has these wild underground tunnels from when it was an autonomous city-state that had to defend against marauding armies.

I wouldn't judge the place by Mignini et al. Human swine breed everywhere.

Point of order, Mr Speaker:

Perugia categorically does NOT produce world-class chocolate. It is famous as the home of the Perugina company (now owned by Nestle), which produces mass-market chocolate. Perugina's chocolate is of decent but unspectacular quality - in much the same way as Cadbury chocolate in the UK or even Hershey in the US.

But "world-class" it most certainly is not. For world-class chocolate in Italy, one has to look to the mighty Amedei in Pontedera, Tuscany. Amedei sources its cacao from individual highly-vetted estates across the world, and almost exclusively uses only Trinitario or Criollo beans - rather than the far blander (but higher-yield) Forastero variety used by virtually every mass-market chocolate manufacturer (including Perugina).

I've visited Amedei and and met Cecilia Tessieri (the founder and master-chocolatier of the company) - as well as several other of the most prestigious chocolate conchers/manufacturers in the world. Perugina is not one of them.

As you might tell, I'm quite interested in high-quality chocolate :D

I'm sure it is Charlie. Other than all the graffiti I'd love to see it.

It is far different than Seattle. It looks like a great walking city and it has some interesting history and architecture. But it hardly compares to Seattle when it comes to innovation, industry and entrepreneurship. Perugia makes it's living off the college kids and tourism. It's Pullman, with better weather, and more interesting architecture.

Not to contradict Charlie's generous post, but I think Billy did a pretty good job the other day of describing what one might find in Perugia:

<snip>....a corrupt police force, a corrupt criminal justice system and kangaroo courts, and among its citizens perjurers can easily be found to give false evidence, as a matter of fact some of them are very experienced at this being veteran perjurers in a number of trials. And something I never heard of before the reporters for the local papers also act as go-betweens for prosecutors and members of the drug dealing community to provide witnesses in murder trials.

Kwill,

I've simply got to say that what you've posted so far is just dazzling (please don't blush).

To me, it eclipses any commentary I've read about this case thus far, here or anywhere else - and there are some rather acute minds involved.

I don't know where you've been all this time, but I hope you're here to stay.

Watching you systematically dismantling Mach/Yummi is, well.... so gratifying to witness.

I realise that 'entertaining' people isn't remotely your intention, but it can't but be anything else for those of us who despise this self-satisfied, wannabee dissembler.

I agree, Supernaut. I like all our new posters -- kwill, andreajo, Strozzi, just to name a few. They are insightful and have the JREF "in a friendly and lively way ethos" down pat. GreyFox and NancyS, too, although they have been around awhile.

Well if you can tell the difference between variety of cocoa beans more power to you LJ. They don't actually grow cocoa beans in Italy. Unfortunately cocoa beans are only grown in South America, Mexico, Africa and Indonesia. The sad thing is that cocoa only grows in very select regions and that is why it's price is skyrocketing. For all the bragging that some places, like Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Hershey, PA, the fact is all they do is refine the beans which is essentially roasting and grinding the beans.

Italy, Belgium Switzerland, Italy etc do not necessarily makes better chocolate than the others, since they all import their cocoa from the same places. However, some places do use more cocoa beans in their chocolate. (One of my closest friends is a chocolatier and baker. He was the head chocolatier at Dilletante in Seattle and he started Costco's Kirkland brand chocolates. What Perugia probably has is some excellent chocolatiers that make fabulous truffles, etc.

Damn, how I do love chocolate..you guys got me thinking about it.
