Encountered my first "Truther" today

Where's your post that says to Tri 'You're not who you say you are' anyway?

I'm not going through this whole thread to find you actually being right about something. That's a needle in a haystack chore.

I've glanced at this thread a few times, but haven't participated in or really followed it. I will only state, more or less pertaining to the thread title, I've never met a "truther", at least not who has ever mentioned it to me or so much as worn a T-shirt expressing such opinions. I've actually met one guy who kind of doubted the Apollo landings, but never anyone who bought into the various forms of the government-did-911 foolishness.

I can't think of a more irrelevant group; in my experience, they stop existing when I close my Web browser. I'd say the Apollo-landing deniers are more irrelevant, but at least I've met one of those.

Red Ibis, can you show us where you said Tri wasn't who he said he was? Or did you just say he's a liar or a mean person or... something bad? Are you taking credit for something you didn't do? If so, how does this make you better than Tri?

We have three "resident trolls" who specialise in the occasional snide comment implying their greater perspicacity. Whilst never contributing to substantive discussion. Never making an explicit claim and certainly never supporting anything they claim by innuendo.

In fact "resident": could be wrong - they are more like occasional and opportunistic visitors. :D

What? As you can see for yourself in that thread I merely questioned him on his story and maintained that he was making up the entire truther story. Don't let the rabble here lead you astray.

Simple trolling tactics Red. Question most posts that you refer to. You are bound to get one right every so often.

Then, on the rare occasions that hindsight agrees with you, claim victory in hindsight.

The tactic similar to that which was practised by tribal witchdoctors for centuries.

They would extract tribute from their congregation so they could do the magic potions and incantations thing to beg the sun to rise next day.

Their "success rate" better than yours - they have never failed to succeed.

Now King Cnut.....was a different scenario.

Does Red Ibis actually claim to have claimed to know triforcharity was not who he said he was?

Yes.

Post 563 on this very page:

I lurk a bit from time to time. Don't really participate in these old worn out threads anymore, but this thread certainly proves that the so-called skeptics couldn't wait to jump on Tri's bandwagon, and a stupid twoof such as myself saw the lies and fabrications for what they were.

A post claiming he saw the lies, while at the same time lying himself.

Splendid.

Saying that "the so-called skeptics couldn't wait to jump on Tri's bandwagon" is an overstatement (and I cut out some other invective), but I see both these comments as saying, correctly, that RedIbis challenged tri's story in the OP -- nothing about whether tri was a firefighter, or a military medic, or whatever.

Of course, when Red started bragging about BS detection, I sort of lost patience, even as a n00b. But at the beginning of the thread, Red and others were asking fair questions. I don't think they were just flinging crud to see if any would stick -- although presumably they were predisposed to be skeptical.

It seems to me that in that quote he is saying that the encounter with the teenage Truther in 7/11 which led to the Truther spending time in jail is what triforcharity was lying about. RedIbis certainly say that he did not believe triforcharity on that.

It seems to me you agree, do you not?

The one about not being FDNY is not one that I have seen RedIbis make, although I would be happy to be corrected.

I've known only one Truther in real life, a former teacher at my current school. Before some idiot Truther launches into some spiel about him losing his job being proof of an inside job, two other teachers have lost their jobs at the same time and neither of them are Truthers unlike the first mentioned. The FAA felt they weren't up to snuff and cut them loose.

I did once see 2 people wearing an Alex Jones NWO t-shirt but thats the closest ive gotten to seeing the truth movement outside of the net.

Other than the embarrassingly bad truther event I attended once, I have seen a couple truthers in the wild. I once saw a guy wearing a "Reinvestigate 9/11" t-shirt walking down the street. Another time I saw a guy standing on the street holding a sign that said simply "nanothermite?" I can only assume this was a poorly thought out 9/11 truth sign, but I didn't talk to him. Nothing as dramatic as tri's story, but that's reality for you.
