I love the word "crook". It's so deliciously 40s.
And the really clever part is: I got that "I'm not a crook" quote from someone else! Wish I could remember who really said it....

He went in looking like a putz. He's now putzier.
Rand Paul Aide Admits To Bad Sourcing After Plagiarism Allegations

Ah, so NOW he's coming to terms with it. He knew a **** storm was brewing and some serious damage control was finally necessary.
Not only deny it, but want to take to putting a bullet or a deadly sword through the chest of one of the persons who revealed his theft.I should have said, "he now OUGHT to expect," yes. So I messed up; SHUT UP!!
That last line is from Eddie Murphy. See how easy it is to credit a source?
There are a lot of things about this "scandal" that are more troubling than a non-attributed quotation. For one thing, I have yet to read a Wikipedia article that I'd WANT to pass off as my own. Most are badly written and flow poorly. It would be like plagiarizing a "joke" from Will Ferrell.
But the thing that is so puzzling is that people caught red-handed actually DENY it or blame someone who had no connection to the offense. This is what Rand Paul did, and I deem it a serious flaw in his character and personal integrity.
In time-honored fashion as well.
He blamed hisflunkiesstaff.
Classy, Senator. Real classy. That's the way to reclaim the moral high ground. I wonder if he has a placard on his desk, "The buck stops over there somewhere."
Not seeing the scandal here. Does plagiarism make one unfit for high public office?

Someone ought to ask Paul, "Did you see the goddamned movie or not??" It is super-easy to avoid plagiarism by doing your own goddamned work and writing or speaking about it in your own goddamned words, Senator.
But he's kind of libertarian. Aren't libertarians all about property rights!? Or are they just about their own personal property rights, and not that of others....

He has resorted to lamenting that dueling isn't legal, as if his honor is so besmirched by the accusation as to warrant pistols at 20 paces.
I don't think what he did with the Wikipedia article was bad. This could be because I don't know the extent of how much he did. I thought it was a few lines describing the plot in a speech.

Rand Paul did admit, in an interview, that the speeches "had input from several sources", meaning he actually didn't write all of it. Maybe not any of it. So really, his speechwriters plagiarized Wikipedia, not him. He just repeated it. Which make it even more unfathomable that he would respond with an angry attack. Everybody knows politicians use "research departments" to ghost their speeches. Rand could have fingered them (rightfully) and escaped with minor damage.
ETA: Oops. I see this has already broken.

Offering a little help. What makes him unfit is his reaction. Expressing a desire to kill the people responsible for criticizing him. I know to some that makes him sound tough but to most people it makes him look weak and stupid. If he can't handle criticism without voicing a desire for violence he shouldn't be in publicoffice.
This story broke a week ago. Perhaps you could have done a Google search for Rand Paul Plagiarism before poo pooing it and engaging in tu quoque.
