Not operational?! Are we still on the spin cycle?

Of little help instead 's examination of the frames of the cameras square Grimana. And for the cameras of the parking lot next to Meredith's house, according to the Flying Squad's images do not allow to identify the person shooting.

The next day Raffaele's defense requested the video from the square only to be told that it had been erased.

Who is Raffaele' mail service provider? Does the school have it's own mail system? Does Raffaele use Gmail? Does pis-on-u even require recording port 25 (SMTP) connections? I know it's been a major talking point for the PGP that Raffaele has claimed to have sent email that night but they haven't got squat to back up their argument. And here you are bringing it up again. you don't even know what questions need to be asked in order to put together a valid argument. You just repeat the talking points.

(...)

And what do you think made that connection? And what p2p app is opening a web browser connection to apple.com? Does this tech stuff confuse you?

You are misrepresenting the topic.
We have all information about the activity done by the MacBook computer, we have all application, system and connection logs.
We all know that the Mac computer was on and connected all night, with a p2p program running on.
We also know that there have been no human interactions with other applications (except one command on the movie reader and the claimed "Naruto" interaction at 21.28), no surfing, nothing else.
All other arguments (such as the screensaver logs) are pointless.

The opening of a web browser connection to the Mac site can be an automatic activity of the system (for example, as a download ends). We are not talking about surfing the internet: it's the connection to the manufacturer's page url, and nothing else. This is not a human activity. What person open the rowser, connects to the manufacturer's portal and does nothing else, doesn't look for anything, doesn't surf, doesn't open the pages or use the search engine, doesn't download... ?

The Piazza Grimana surveillance camera was non-operational.

There was one erased video-recording, but it was another one, it was from a bank in another road. The police (Volturno) searched that too late, to find out who used Meredith's credit card.

I guess Machiavelli doesn't get that P2P means Person to Person. It is the same protocol that IMs make. It is a link between two computers setting up a Skype call or a chat session or music sharing session and much much more) It is possible that someone set up an auto connection for a specific time, but they would leave a trail. No that is almost positively, undeniably a human interaction with the computer.

It actually stands for peer to peer. Raffaele's computer was joined to a file sharing network so any file in the P2P directory could be accessed at any time by the network. This is a likely explanation for the access recorded in the file metadata for Stardust but would not create Internet connections or alter the Finder metadata that showed the opening of Naruto.

And then there is the screensaver activity recorded in the system log.

You're right. Peer to peer..mind fart.

It would be standard operating procedure to collect videos in the vicinity asap. We aren't talking about that many in the 5 to 10 minute walk from the scene radius. Certainly they would walk the most likely escape routes and check the garbage cans and ask the storekeepers for any video footage they might have from 8pm to 1pm the next day.

They had a massive force from the very beginning. Videos don't usually get erased for a week no matter what Mach says. Store security would certainly like to be able to go back a few days if they notice a theft.

What good would video be if it were only kept 24 hours. But let's say that is true then the police in Italy would/should be trained to go out immediately and secure those recordings. They had the ICSI there by 3pm and they could have brought more troops from Rome if they had to get those tapes by eight that night.

Your point about the panty cam is spot on. How did they manage to get that so fast?

Do you know the police didn't do as you have laid out they should do as soon as a crime has been done?

There were videos they had which we have seen but we wouldn't really know those they checked but didn't have because they were empty, erased, not functioning, etc.

And store videos may only have been concerned with what was occurring inside the store, not who walked by. What are the stores which would have been located around the cottage and which path would a murderer take after exiting the cottage?

Possible motives:

1. They were incompetent.
2. They wanted to scare Raffaele.
3. ?
4. Frame Amanda.

Is it me, or are you just being difficult and self-contradictory?

I just wrote this about 12 hours ago. I can't believe you are not hanging on my every word.

ETA: But when they snagged the knife, they DID have something on Amanda -- her confession. But they were not looking to make her the stabber at that time anyway.

The only way that they are looking for a murder weapon at Sollecito's place is if they disbelieve Knox's "statement" suggesting that Lumumba did it, and instead, turn their attention to Sollecito.

This wouldn't be surprising given the facts that the cops appear to have done no search of Lumumba's on 11/6, and the DNA results rule out Lumumba as the rapist on about 11/6. What is surprising is that they held him in jail for so long afterwards; they hold him in jail for two(?) more weeks despite the fact that: 1. Knox has retracted her "statement," 2. the DNA results are clean, and 3. no search has been done of Lumumba's home.

For Sollecito, they had his shoes. So, the approach is very simplistic: Lumumba didn't do it, so it must have been Sollecito--Knox and Sollecito say that they were together, and Sollecito's shoes prove that he did it.

Is this new? Was Meredith's credit card used after her death? Or is this part of the old story that the transaction was posted sever days late because of the weekend and holiday?

Why does the contemporaneous news report contradict your claim that the plaza camera was non-operational. Sounds like someone is trying to cover something up.

One of the local Italian news sources carried statements from Raffaele's defense (I believe it was on November 15th) with the claim that the police had reviewed the video and then it had been erased.

This outside video camera on the tobacco/stationary shop right at the head of Raffaele's street and across from Amanda's school. The quote from Republica claims that the police reviewed this footage. Machiavelli claims it was not operational.

Not for surveillance. Only for traffic control.
What I mean was explained in Barbadori's testimony (my translation):

(...)
witness (Barbadori): well, specifically I took part to the search of Nov. 6. In the Via Della Pergola house and I collected and watched the recordings of the video cameras from the parking located exactly in front of the same house, and all the video cameras from the downtown, from the city centre.

(…)

prosecution (Mignini): About the investigation you did on the video cameras..?

witness (barbadori): Basically I collected the recordings of all video cameras of the old city at the City Police including the traffc ones in Piazza Grimana, and above all that located in the parking area facing the Via della Pergola house. A premise is necessary: the video cameras are not located there to identify people, but they are for controlling the traffic, the one in Piazza Grimana for example, if there is no traffic, if there is no moving car, it doesn’t switch on.

This information is from the same poter who claims that TMB "non-Hemasix" version test is more specific than HemastixTMB and Luminol,

It is. I'm sorry you don't understand the science, but there's not much I can do about that, short of explaining it again (and I can't be bothered to do that)

and who called peroxide a "catalyzer"

It is. Again, I'm sorry you don't know the difference betwen a catalyser and a catalyst.

and said blood "oxidizes" Luminol...

Now you're just making things up. I said what?? Are you getting confused for some reason?

There is no bank with a vide-surveillance camera that could see road in via Garibaldi, at least there wasn't any in 2007. This is what I know.
Such bank owned video-camera doesn't exist not even in Gumbel's book:

There are only two video-cameras on the road, the one at the corner and the Army barracks one. As far as I know they were non-operational; about the city-operated on, I'm sure it was requested immedately by the police and it turned out to be inactive. As for the military I don't know the reason, but I just guess they would hardly tell us exactly the details about their video surveillance policy.

You're right - I misremembered about the type of establishment: it wasn't a bank, but rather a stationers and mobile phone shop. It's a city CCTV camera. I believe this camera was operable. Why do you believe it was not?

It is painfully obvious that AK and RS were framed by use of false or non existant evidence. The problem is that it was done by people incompetent in their jobs, and unable to even plant evidence properly. IMHO

That's one of the puzzling things about this whole saga: it would have been an easy matter to do a better job of framing Amanda and Raff than was done - so why didn't they? I've said this before: they were so arrogant that they believed that nothing they did would be subjected to scrutiny. Indeed, after the Massei verdict they must have felt their confidence was vindicated.

The screensaver is prevented from running by an open application, a video-related one of a kind like the VLC reader. The simple fact that the application is not closed, it would block the screensaver.
A 2 seconds internet connection to the Apple site is not a sign of human activity; it can be triggered by copyright metadata (like with the ITunes page) or can be a refresh caused by a scheduled update activity.

According to the records of Banca Intesa in Perugia, there were no money withdrawals from ATMs on Nov 2. The alleged withdrawal turned out anyway to be non-existent.

LOL. Then why did you refer to this "non-existent" card use.

It is. Again, I'm sorry you don't know the difference betwen a catalyser and a catalyst.
(...)

There is no difference. They are the same thing. It looks like in English 'catalyst' is used preferably to indicate the chemical element/compound while 'catalyser' is more often used for devices, while the function is the same, it's the same thing.

LOL. Then why did you refer to this "non-existent" card use.

Because it is something that was investigated.
There was a record faxed from London reporting an apparent withdrawal. They checked, the record turned out to be incorrect.

So which application was open?
