Bigfoot DNA

So if you discount the hoaxes and the camp-fire story telling, the imagined noises in the night, and the outright lies, and leave only the "genuine" sightings; the ones where honest people have actually seen something dark and shadowy walking upright through the bush, what proportion of those do you think might be misidentified bears or other animals? Some? Many? Most? All?

I would agree that some of those would be accounted for by misidentified animals or people walking through the woods. (remember, we're talking about ONLY the "genuine" sightings where people actually saw something they thought was bigfoot, not enthusiasts etc) Others may be accounted for by pareidolia of other types such as shadows, or moving brush. There may also be people that genuinly believe they saw something that are deluded as well.

My point was that most of the phenomenon is not misidentified bears or other animals. It's story tellers/fabrications. (probably 90% or more if I were to guess a number out of the blue)

^^I promise you that folks have much more to lose than they do to gain by coming forward and telling their stories. The ridicule and laughter they face from those they tell is enough to silence most of them.

Of the people I've spoken to about their encounters, they have been almost relieved to be able to talk about it.

Additionally, not all encounters are dark and shadowy. Many happen in broad day light and are very unambiguous to the witnesses. Very honest, forthright people just having something happen to them they cannot explain.

And one of the things that bothers me is that a huge proportion of the public now carry smart/mobile phones that have very good camera and video capability.

► So where are all the videos?
► Where are the videos of something that is clearly, obviously and undeniably a large apelike creature walking erect through the forest?
► Where are the clear photographs?
► Why are videos of Figboot always obscure, shadowy, out of focus and unsteady?
► Why are photos of Figboot always indistinct and blurry?

And then there are the hundreds, maybe thousands of trail cameras out there. How come ordinary trail cameras can take photos of wild animals as clear as these...

...yet can NEVER get clear shot of Figboot?

For me the answer is simple and straightforward. You can't take a photograph of something if it doesn't exist!

This is another bunch of malarkey foisted by footers. Ask anyone who's interned at a big city news desk about folks who claim to have witnessed all manner of cooky things; dying for attention, they call in and leave their name, address and phone number, then call back and ask why they haven't been called back. Ask any cop about those that confess to crimes they haven't committed. Ask your local Elvis fan club about those claiming to see the King at the Circle K.

And if folks experience things they can't explain, why are they explaining it with bigfoot?

Since you asked!

Haven't had any time to really dive into this one because it just showed up today, but this is interesting. Not saying it's genuine, but it is compelling and should be looked at more in depth.

Except that we are overrun with bigfoot believers who have no problem coming forward.

Sans evidence, of course.

But they do come forward in droves.

There's no excuse whatsoever for clearly seeing a bigfoot in broad daylight and not having at least a decent picture. Even cheap cell phones have decent cameras these days.

Even if you didn't get a picture of the creature, it walked right by you. It weighs 800 pounds. It had to leave an obvious fresh trail. It had to come from somewhere and go to somewhere. There must be ample evidence there.

Just as there would be if you got a good clear look at a moose walking by.

If a moose walked near you in the woods, and you missed it with your camera, you could still prove a moose walked near you. You could almost certainly still prove it the next day, provided extreme weather didn't roll in overnight.

Oh wait, extreme weather rolled in the night of the PGF...

Okay, how about this one? Also, just came out today.

Just like most other purported Figboot videos, this one has some of the usual attributes

► an (in)conveniently positioned branch that just happens to obsure the face so we don't get a clear view.

► just as it looks like we might get a clear view, the think moves or the camera suddely gets jolted.

► indistinct or marginally out of focus.

I see nothing in this that makes me thing its anythng other than a man in an ape suit.

This kind of video is extraordinarily easy to fake so long as the filmer makes sure that the face of the purported Figboot is never clearly shown. Ape costumes like this are cheap and readily available. Getting one with convincing facial features is the hard (and expensive) part.

I can't view this one. Can someone explain why the "hunters" couldn't launch a few arrows in footie's general direction?

Okay, was able to watch it.

Give the guy in the suit plastic pumpkin so he can trick or treat already.

The keen, elusive swamp ape, oblivious to a guy walking up on it in broad daylight. Tell us how this keen, elusive and oblivious animal has never given up a specimen, when this same scenario would have been played out thousands of times over the last century.

Methinks Bigfoot researchers should carry with them air-horns. Imagine if the guy in this video blasted an air-horn while the ape was still bent over looking for grub. Then we would really get to see something-- if seeing something was really the point.

To me it's always fascinating to see someone like Northernlights give a link to something but never do any homework on the subject.

I think you need a dictionary - I've corrected the spelling mistake in your post.

Really?

Is this a trolling, or do you really consider this sort of thing to be "compelling" evidence?

You know why they can't shoot arrows at it. It looks too human; that it actually is probably more to the point.

He said clear....not 150 feet away with trees and branches blocking the view that goes in and out of focus.

You know, maybe something like this:

This video puts the whole thing in perspective, and makes the point quite well:
