Nordic countries may finally ban circumcision.

Not sure what you are arguing here - other than HITLER BAD!!! Are you saying that you are against these animal protection measures because it will lead to less protection for humans? How does that fit in with the current analogy with circumcision? Are you trying to say that protecting babies from circumcision is a human rights abuse, caused by giving animals too many rights (or is that a rights abuse too?), and HITLER! Could you expand upon your argument, because I'm really not understanding what you are trying to say.

Actually I was making a commentary about the offensively fallacious comparison between non-medically recommended procedures on animals, and medically recommended procedures on humans (or as we seem to be calling them in this thread "mutilated" humans).

There was a comment that it showed the "hypocracy," which I thought was ironic, given the Nazi eras animal protection laws, and they fact that the Nazis used the fact that men were circumcised to assist them in filling up the railroad cars.

I'm not sure where this "other evil people have also been kinder to animals than they were to their fellow humans" argument is supposed to take the debate.

Spelling "hypocrisy" right would be good too.

Rolfe.

Two problems, you will find vets recommending banned procedures and routine circumcision is not medically recommended, even by the AAP.

Circumcision isn't medically recommended, in the European countries we're talking about at least. You seem to continue to either forget or dismiss that.

The mistake appears to be originally mine. :covereyes

Indeed, there are vets who are enthusiastic proponents of purely cosmetic mutilations such as tail docking, and they routinely make spurious claims of health benefits (mainly avoiding injury to the tail in future) in order to justify their position.

Just as with circumcision, experience with unmutilated populations demonstrates that the claimed adverse consequences of leaving the animal intact are uncommon and essentially trivial, and in no way justify wholesale prophylactic amputations.

Rolfe.

I'm not sure why you're confused. Obviously, those who oppose circumcision are Nazis. It couldn't be made more clear.

Just pointing out the incredibly irony of this baffling "thread drift" about vet practices.

Fascinating.
I was trimmed, and cannot confirm that they are right. Penile function alive and well, sex feels real good.
The government now knows more about my penis than I do? Get the government out of my boxer shorts, I don't need them in there.

Okay. I was cut for medical reasons as a young toddler, and as far as I can tell my sensitivity is seriously impaired.

But of course my experience isn't valid, unlike all the Jewish men who are satisfied with their sex life  And clearly because some cut people are satisfied, that means that the statistics showing that cutting impairs sensitivity are invalid.

That is an odd post. You seem to be complaining that people are claiming that your experience is not valid, while at the same time claiming that the experience of Jewish men is not valid.

/by the way, you may wish to reconsider posting in a thread where "intactavists" persist in referring to "mutilated genitals" despite repeated explanations why that is exceptionally unhelpful to their alleged position. I consider it indicative of the lack of merit in their positions.

...says the person who twice now has compared those who disagree with him with Nazis.

How about "docked"?
Um, no? The "dock" is the word for the tail bone. Docking means cutting the tail bone.

Rolfe.
Rolfe don't many of the evil authoritarian European governments prohibit docking? I thought I read that somewhere.
Yeah tail docking of dogs is banned in many countries, though not the USA.

Oh yes. We seem to protect animals better than infant boys.

Rolfe.
Indeed.

OK, then "nipped"?

"Clipped"?

"Snipped"?
Defaced? Mutilated? Disfigured? Mangled? Defaced? Desecrated? Butchered?
Dismembered?

Someone upthread noted how useless sneering insults like this are, particularly a few posts after someone just admitted to having the procedure.

I see that it has not made an impression.

Once you think that the thread hits bottom, you'll find that intactavists plumb new depths.

So it seems. Those supporting involuntary genital mutilation of infants don't like terms like "mutilation", it emphasises the reality too much.

catsmate's argument appears to be that men with circumcision have "mutilated genitals."

Has anyone missed that "argument"?

I'd say that it reaches the level of a schoolyard taunt, but i don't even think it merits that.

Thanks for sharing your "arguments" with us catsmate.

Scanning the past few pages things seem to have gotten a bit heated. As a general reminder please ensure your posts are on topic (rule 11), address the argument (vs attack the arguer)(rule 12) and are civil and polite (rule 0).

Did someone's feelings get hurt?

You'll forgive me if I don't respond.

I am providing a counterpoint to all the "cut and fine" posts. If they are valid arguments for circumcision, mine is a valid argument against it.
