Merged Kevin Trudeau in Contempt

I await his next book, "Seven Things that Happen in Prisons that Wardens Won't Tell You About".

If nothing else, they ought to attach all the money he might make while in prison from writing a book. Or is that only in civil actions?

I might actually buy an autobiographical confession from him. "IF I Did It: How I Became America's Number One Huckster."

Ok. Has anyone else on here besides me ever bought a product from a Kevin Trudeu infomercial? I can't be the only fool.

Good luck getting people to own up to having been scammed. There is a certain amount of shame involved and people like to pretend they are not the kind of person who falls for a scam.

I bought his memory book.

First he serves a prison internship. If that works out, we'll talk about that buck a day gig.

Nah! In fact, page 237 of his upcoming book, "Get Out Of Jail "Free"* Cards THEY Don't Want You To Know About," talks about the secret word that causes prison wardens to give you whatever you want.

*Once you are out, you will, in fact, be "free" so it's not fraud...

I've wondered what was in that memory book. I almost bought it except that there was something Trudeau said in his infomercial that made my BS detector go to eleven. Trudeau kept talking about his "new technology" that made memory better, and yet he was selling a book, not a device. There wasn't any "technology" as far as I could tell.

My guess is that Trudeau was actually peddling the techniques that other memory experts use: association, imagery, key words, etc. But I don't know. Did Trudeau say anything of value or was it all a steaming pile?

You seriously have to ask that question? Everything the man does is a steaming pile. One only has to listen to him for 15 seconds to realize that everything he says is a complete lie. And the reason he peddles books is because he has been prohibited from selling any kind of product or merchandise for some time now. He hides behind the First Amendment to sell worthless words instead of goods.

BTW, I saw one of his infomercials just two nights ago, so he is still raking in cash. I'm sure his web sites are still active, as well. I almost have to laugh that the courts point out that he spent [Dr. Evil voice]hundreds of dollars[/Dr. Evil voice] on cigars and haircuts. This guy still has millions somewhere to be sure.

Yes it was a collection of the standard memory techniques, that I didn't know at the time.

So it could have been useful, if...

...the simple techniques that Derren Brown all explained in the space of ten pages, had not been 'fleshed out' with looooooots of filler to make the book thicker. Rendering it effectively unreadable.

The only book I've ever (partly) read, that was worse? Rich dad, poor dad.
It's even a worse offender, because if you follow Robert Kyosaki's advice, (if you can find it amid the fluff, there's not a lot of it) it will have you standing in line with MC Hammer at the social services.

I have bought all his recent books...not because I believe it but so that I know what kind of crap is in there. I've had family and friends try to convince me that this guy had the secrets to the universe.

My favorite is his insistence that he was privy to some kind of secret society where all the decisions of the world were made. He only decided to leave that inner circle when he saw how simple, cheap and natural cures were being suppressed in favor of lining the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies.

The guy was good at scamming.

One thing I don't get. He's going to jail and being forced to pay back money because, in part, he wrote a book and made claims about an old HCG based diet. Why then, are doctors allowed to actually sell people the diet and inject them with HCG?

From what I read here, the fine he faces is not all of his legal trouble.

"Trudeau still faces a criminal trial connected to the claims he made on TV about his diet book."

I suppose revenge is an ugly motive, but this bastard killed my Father-in-law by convincing him to ignore his doctors. I want him locked up forever.

The FTC claim against him is not for writing the book, nor for the claims he actually makes in the book, but because he misrepresented the contents of the book in his televised informercials.

Ah, that's a little different. Thanks.

Still, it seems odd that so many doctors, at least where I'm from, have set up a small little industry peddling the exact protocol Trudeau writes about. It just seems wrong.

I know he must be affecting people in this way.

Sorry to hear that you actually had somebody so close harmed. :(

Makes it a lot less academic.

I once got this long rambling letter (something like 5 pages) that talked about some kind of 'system' or somesuch that was supposed to 'change my life and my finances' etc. It rambled and rambled and went on withou actually giving any idea what the hell the whole thing was about. The thing was so badly edited that the name of the person supposedly wrote the letter changed about 3 times over the letter.

I held onto it for a while and on a whim Goggled some of the terms. Found an anti-scam site that discussed it and lo and behold they had researched it and it led back to Trudeau. What was amusing is that this was a long-term thread as people would mention getting the letter, prompting some discussion and then the thread would go idle. What especially amused was the shills Trudeau had in the thread who would try to talk about how great the thing was and how everyone pointing out the scammy nature of the letter were poopy heads because they wouldn't give the scam letter a chance.

Yeah, nobody there was falling for it.

He tried to convince the judge today that he has no hidden stash of cash and valuables, judge didn't buy it. He gets to try again Monday.
