No, it was not "measured". FLIR is valuable for its ability to "see" through foliage. So you don't use your eyes instead of the FLIR to estimate the height of the object the next day using a test subject.

Your subject the next day was also standing still, and anyone who has watched animals in the forest knows they alternate from partially obscured to fully obscured to mostly visible as they move along. Even a fellow wearing good camo is easy to spot once he moves along instead of standing still.

If all you could see with your eyes from the test subject standing still was his feet, would you have concluded it was three inches tall? Of course not. You would probably have thought it through enough to look at the subject through the FLIR instead.

:D Since YouTube® was only for the super rich and super famous back in the 60's and '70's, we but rarely got to see how truly bleepin nuts these Bigfoot freaks actually were back then too. He says Tracker's the name, but Whacker seems so much more...real. I feel almost dirty quoting RL on this topic, but here it is:

More on the now-famous Stoneman footage out of Pennsylvania. There are a lot of myths out about this footage, one of them that it is a tree stump or uprooted root-ball, others that the videographer, Stoneman, has admitted it was all a hoax. Neither of these are true. It has apparently not been proven that this is a root-ball. This seems to be a lie started by a local gas fracker who hates Stoneman due to his anti-fracking activism. In fact, an independent investigator went to the exact site where Stoneman took the video and there is no root-ball there. There are before and after shots that show the strange objects appearing in the before but not in the after shots in the same exact location.

I will see if I can more for you on this. I have seen a number of photos of these possible Bigfoot objects, and in some shots, they look very different than in other shots. If they are root balls, then there is more than one root ball in the area. Furthermore, at least some shots do not look like root balls at all. Instead, it looks like animal hair. I have also seen the before shots showing the objects and the after shots with no objects and no root balls. Have some patience.

Expect a flurry of activity from folks like Ketchum, Muldrum, Dyer, and other "experts." These folks hate it when someone else (like Sykes) is getting press. They are like children who will do anything to get attention. Should be fun.:cool:

You've no evidence of that what-so-ever. At least Mr Stoneman has located the exact spot for others to see that there is no root-ball there.

It wouldn't be a particularly clever prank as well as out right lying to newspaper reporters because root-ball similarities are well known about. He said the entities were moving through the forest.

P.S. They do look just like root-balls in the photo, agreed, but the man's testimony has to be given some credibility unless he's a well known hoaxer.

ETA: Take a look at the two photos. You can see the tree with the bend in it so it's the same spot.

The article adds:

The day before the sighting John said there had been a 'Bigfoot calling contest' organised as part of the bridge festival - an event held annually in the area to commemorate an old viaduct destroyed by a tornado.
