So why should I not be ticked off with the GOP right now?

So if I can provide evidence to support my previous statements, you'll admit that there are serious downsides as a result of Obamacare?

Considering that one of the "downsides" you cite is actually companies screwing over their employees rather than allow them to have health insurance, I'm not sure why you're placing the blame for this on the ACA.

Any company management that take that step should be hauled out into the street and shot.

Of course, because the problems from Obamacare that thousands of other people are going through, aren't your problem. The important thing is that you got yours.

Things like the people without health insurance that have had their hours reduced because of the employer required Obamacare coverage. Now they still have no insurance AND lower income.

Oh and the thousands of people that have higher insurance costs due to Obamacare required additional coverage added to their policy. Stuff they don't want or need.

But hey, don't you worry your little self about them. You got yours.
Well, if they still don't have coverage by Jan 1, then they are breaking the law.

By the way, just FYI, some info on how much health care costs for low income people here in MA. My father in law's home care aid, who probably makes $12 an hour, pays $3 a month for her insurance under RomneyCare. What an incredible burden for her!

Depends on the nature of the evidence, I suppose. I'm not arguing that there aren't downsides to any law, let alone the ACA. However, the things you're talking about went into effect yesterday. I'm more curious who has managed to get hard data this early. (And I'm guessing no one has.)

Clearly you don't understand the employer requirements of the law.

The evidence will unequivocally support my statements. Will you then admit that there are serious downsides as a result of Obamacare?

The industry and employers have been moving toward compliance ever since the SC cleared the law. Oct. 1 is just one of the many deadline dates for various pieces of it to be implemented.

Take your whine about the ACA to another thread. This thread is about how the GOP crazies are holding the nation's economy hostage because they can't repeal a piece of legislation, and how that affects people around the country.

Be sure your sources are complete so they include those who's costs go down. Also include the costs avoided due to people having access to preventative care versus waiting until it requires emergency room visits. Anecdotes need not apply. Consider the CBO.

But yes, there are down sides and there are up sides. The unbiased research suggests the latter exceeds the former.

I agree with uke2se and take this to the appropriate thread.

If it unequivocally supports your claims and is at all credible, sure. But I'm not agreeing to anything until after I see it. MAD Magazine won't convince anyone.

I was referring to the individuals. Couple it with my anecdote about cost and it seems pretty ridiculous to think that low-income people in jobs that do not provide health insurance will be suffering as you claim.

You don't get to dictate what I can and can't post. My initial post was a direct response to the OP. Subsequent posts challenged my statements. Follow the thread.

So low income people that have their income cut, won't suffer?

Study: Insurance costs to soar under Obamacare

People who currently pay little for a bare bones policy with a very high deductible will likely see their monthly insurance tab rise. Duh. ACA requires all policies include certain coverages. Stuff some people don't want or need. Guess what? Stuff costs money. Also, young men, who often pay little for insurance since they rarely go to the doctor, will also likely see a bump in their premiums.

I still am surprised with all the talk about it, some supporters still aren't aware of the above facts. Unplug from MSNBC and it's amazing what you can learn.

I am following the thread. You're trying to get in a whine about the ACA in a thread that isn't about that. Much like the GOP congress critters did when they attached a demand to defund the ACA to a bill about funding the US government.

Like almost every other cookie cutter complaint about the ACA raising costs Kathy here forgets to include the subsidies and all the added benefits like no pre-existing conditions and no annual or lifetime caps. I have seen this article parroted by people all over the internet almost identical in formula, I wonder why they always forget to give the full picture - it's almost like they have an agenda. Weird.

Oh and the Manhattan Institute?

So the ADA suddenly made there be less work? If some people get cut to part time, others will have to be hired, no net gain or loss.

I call shenanigans on this one. It all but ignores the subsidies and the one place it doesmention them gets its information from the Manhattan Institute.

Also ignores the effect of the subsidies.

This is the one valid point you make. Companies are screwing their employees to game the system. I absolutely agree that is something that needs to be fixed.

One way to fix that would be to increase the penalties so that they exceed the costs of providing health care to their employees.

I wonder what the GOP plan is to combat these horror story side affects of the ACA? Surely their concern for those affected has inspired them to sit down and figure out ways to make the ACA less onerous. What exactly is their plan for health care in America?

What makes you think they see these as horror stories?

Maternity care for men has them quaking in their boots and they speak of psychiatric care in hushed whispers for fear the death panels will hear them!!!
