janadele: have you decided to provide the documentation that would demonstrate that your urban legends (the "gaoled" christian preacher, the bakery "legally forced to close", the "radical homosexual agenda) are factual, and not just outright lies?

What do the doctrines , beliefs, and teachings of LDS say about false witness?

Well, let's see what their 13th Article of Faith says on the subject of honesty, etc:
We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Do you think you've been upholding the 13th Article of Faith on these boards, Janadele?

Slowvehicle, do you wish to discuss with me via private message these topics which seem to so concern you but which are of no revelance to this LDS thread.

Janadele:

As I have told you before, I have no wish to receive personal communication from you. I remind you, as I have before, that if you PM me, I will consider that permission to post your PM in the appropriate thread, and to publicly respond to your arguments.

You made several arguments based upon demonstrable mistruths, in this very thread that you started. Your arguments consisted, among other things, of scare stories about the "radical homosexual agenda" in this very thread that you started. You raised the issues in this very thread that you started. You raised the issues, and brought up the topics, in this very thread that you started. I have asked you, patiently, and will continue to ask you, to support the urban legend scare stories you told, with evidence.

Can you support the stories? I would be fascinated to read of an actual xianist preacher in the United States being "gaoled" for refusing to perform a same-sex marriage, but you appear to have made an unsupportable claim (and to have claimed that you have never said anything that was not true). All you have to do is show me that the scare stories you told about the "radical homosexual agenda" are true--which is all I have been asking.

As long as you argue that your claims are based on fact, I will continue to ask that you support your claims with evidence.

Should there be someone who wishes to know and understand the teachings, beliefs and doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints then I shall be happy to assist in such a quest, whether or not they then accept them as truth.

So you're here to proselytize, and not actually engage in meaningful debate about the LDS?

Shocker.

It is yourselves who have the hate within you which you attribute to others who do not follow your path of retrogression.
Unless "retrogression" is morally neutral, you are, like it or not, making a moral judgment about persons whose orientation you disapprove of. You are saying they're wrong in a very fundamental way, and that their wrongness brings about tangible results. Unless "eternity" means something other than what we understand it to mean, you are making a moral judgment about the duration of their wrongness and the permanence of those results.

You may not feel you can alter this judgment within your belief system, and for all I care to argue at this moment you could be right. But it's still hate. It's hate whether the people you hate deserve it or not.

If you really believe you've been true to the 13th article of faith in both substance and spirit, I think you are in dire need of some introspection, because the tenor of your posting here does not bespeak it. Of course it's your faith, your article, and your call how you interpret things. But I personally think your judgment on this, as well as on what constitutes a good argument, is debatable, and to be obstinate and unwilling to look critically at what you say and how you say it is not doing you any favor.

If what you seek is noble failiure, you're doing nicely, but if what you seek is what you claim to seek, which is some degree of success in your arguments, it's not working. Not at all.

Please, stick to the topic of this thread, folks. The topic is not each other on a personal level, the thread is not for copy-pasting stuff from elsewhere without discussion, and name calling is not appropriate. There have been multiple splits already from this thread; any more will attract suspensions. That is not the desired outcome, so please, keep your Membership Agreement in mind when posting. Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation.

Out of interest I did some searching on snopes (the urban legend site) and found this article:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/sexuality/hatecrime.asp

It's prompted by claims made by the American Family Association. Needless to say they're all nonsense.

Shalamar, there is no hate nor bigotry within the teachings, beliefs and doctrines The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

That's nice. Sounds like they are all for supporting same-sex marriage.

Oh, wait...

I think you need to look up those words. The things you have been saying about some of your fellow human beigns are apalling, and are based on sexual orientation, which fits with the definition.

Then why do you hate gays?
Because her church tells her they're evil and immoral. So letting them get married or adopt children is immoral, and stopping them doing so is moral.

To us it's discriminating against people because of their sexual orientation that's immoral, and letting gay people marry and adopt like anybody else is moral.

So we think she's immoral, she thinks we're immoral, and never the twain shall meet.

Never mind, we are the nice guys.

It's the same discussion Janadele has had on other forums. It follows the same pattern, going nowhere for a bit before doubling back on itself. For whatever reason, she gets off on it, which is fine...but this thread is starting to repeat itself. Is it really worth it? She's not going to do anything differently.

Just sayin'. :)

Janadele seems unaware that her internet history precedes her.
