Continuation Part 5: Discussion of the Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito case

Does Heroin have the same kind of effect that the defendants claim pot did on their memory? Out of the two Sollecito claimed to be completely confused as to which night investigators were talking about. The night before when the murder happened!! He wanted a calender, the night when Amanda went out. Seriously you worry about habitual noise like buses and forgetting that but you have no problem with lies like sent emails. You fret that Nara didn't look at her watch but Amanda stretched her dinner to hours later. Forgetting so much like calling her mother, not telling Filomena she had tried Meredith. Pretty powerful drugs which kept them confused for days.

This perspective is somewhat interesting, to imagine and apply to a twenty yr old in college, in a foreign country how they should have acted.
We all have only this to apply, our opinion, our thoughts.

The screams all contradict each other and are weak as evidence. Could any of us be found guilty of murder because a prosecutor believes some old lady heard something, saw nothing, and didnt know what time it was??

The real purpose of Nara is the ToD...again its completely non scientific and weak evidence.

The prosecution has to twist and seek something to avoid another failed evidence piece based off severely weak evidence. If they use the cell logs of Merediths phone and Rudys admission to fleeing the murder scene, and the fact Rudys works with the tow-truck timeline witnesses saying they saw nothing and heard nothing works better than Nara.

Even Naras neighbor didnt even hear the scream, she only heard some running footsteps which is even weaker evidence. Of all the apartment windows, only Nara heard this explosive scream....maybe it was her water pipes? She was on medication. Maybe it was a TV blaring next door to Naras apartment, some other old lady left her TV?

Corroboration. Rudys guilt is corroborated. DNA in and on Meredith, his fingerprints his shoe prints in blood. His admission to being there , (eventually
after denying ever being there, then sayin he was on a date etcc.)

And Rudys Burglary background where he worked alone in the few burglarys he was caught doing. Is maybe more interesting than Nara.

Honestly Briars you need to stop reading from the PMF sites. Raffaele was asked about when Amanda went out, which was Wednesday. The cops kept insisting she'd gone out Thursday. Raffaele asked for a calendar to sort out the confusion. The cops refused, because their investigation counted on keeping everyone confused. Drugs had nothing to do with that one.

On the other hand, they relied on a heroin addict, months later, for a story which does not fit the basic facts of the case. If true, which it isn't, Curatolo's story tends to give the two an alibi!

Truly, it's best to stop reading at PMF. Next you'll be citing mixed blood.

Sometimes I wonder if certain people are here as fake PGP in order to highlight the worst parts of the prosecution's case. Defending Curatolo makes the case look absolutely ridiculous. To think that the best they have are witnesses that are as pathetic as the ones they have is laughable.

Now they did have one witness that actually was a witness and came forward in a timely fashion. She said that she and her companion were almost hit by a black man running on Via della Pergola. Now this person couldn't say it was Rudy because this witness was only trying to help solve the crime. The time was about 10:15 which fits with innocence theories but no so much with Mignini's Curatolo and Nara based 11:30 idea.

The time was 10:30 which works with Monaccia waking up and Nara who didn't check the time. It also works with Curatolo who saw them earlier and later. Kokomani must have been there on some less that upstanding business selling drugs probably. I wouldn't be surprised if he knows or heard something.

There you go again. Heroin puts people into a dreamy state - look it up. The fact that Curatolo is not a credible witness has nothing to do with Raf and Amanda. You are conflating.

If Raf was lying his ass off or Amanda was making up stories has nothing to do with the fact that Curatolo's statements weren't credible and should never have been allowed in the trial.

How did I worry about bus noises? Are you sneaking little of something between posts :p.

I happen to agree with R and A that their behavior after the murder wasn't the best. I happen to think they are both a bit ditsy. Pot can make one space out a bit and get things a bit off. Watch a little of Cheech and Chong

I don't fret about Nara. I merely don't believe that a woman wakes up and pees without noting the time. She want to know if she had slept long enough to now make it through the night. Then she hears the most terrifying scream of her life and people running which she apparently connects to the scream but doesn't call the police or a neighbor. Then she is so pumped she goes to the kitchen boils water but doesn't see the clock on the range or the wall while waiting for the water to boil - just doesn't pass any test.

Sollecito has a story that just keeps on changing to this day. He continues to lie including his fake emails , behind the scene deals offered and the cops threatening to leave him in a pool of blood. Best you can accuse Curatolo of is mixing up whether there were extra buses.

Are you serious? This post shows no knowledge of what the case is to suspect that Curatolo is not a reliable witness.

Sollecito's story just keeps changing? Given that for the first 4 years it was others who told Raffaele's story for him - and you believed it - it's not much of a criticism of the guy for writing a book to set the record straight.

I mean, it's PMF who says it was Raffaele claiming it was drugs which caused all the confusion for him. He's said that it was the way the cops threatened him, and then refused to allow him a calendar which caused all the confusion.

The only possible way you can accuse Raffaele of "lying" is to accept the PMF version of what he was supposed to have said, and (more importantly) why he was supposed to have said it.

You can't use lies told about him to then turn around and say it is him telling the lies. (Although I admit, this is how it works in the PMF universe.)

For instance, you said it was Steve Moore who interviewed Nara for the 48 Hours special. Do I now accuse you of lying when you mistook Steve Moore for Paul Ciolino?

You see that's how PMF-logic works. Then I get to follow this up with, "Briars keeps changing his story about who interviewed Nara for 48 Hours!"

No, I do not get to accuse you of lying for this, and neither do I get to accuse you of constantly changing your story. Unless, of course, you do something to get PMF to turn against you, because that's what they'll accuse you of doing.

I confess....

No, no I don't! I have had the same thought. I have no idea how much JREF, IA, either of the PMFs, or TJMK are read.... but it would seem that this whole business of believing Nara about the screams, because the valley is a natural echochamber or something like this....

..... is really the way an Innocenter would mock a PGP. But then again, it's amazing the number of people who get taken in by April Fools, too.

Me, I think Briars is Bruce Fisher.

The time wasn't precise but regardless it fits with a murder occurring at 10 and certainly no later than 10:15. If you insist on Curatolo he has them there from 9:30 to 11:30 after adjustment based on the disco bus schedule which of course id bogus because they weren't running that night. Go check the genius Massei and you'll find that's how they had Curatolo leaving by 11:30 not the midnight time Curatolo claimed.

The murder happened before 10:15 and that doesn't fit with any of the witnesses to screams or running feet. No feet, no evidence of multiple killers.

I believe that Koko may have been there as the driver for Rudy. Don't forget those pesky people from Rome and their tow truck driver. You know the people that Monocchia heard talking before the squeal from the tow truck's hoisting mechanism.

So now you have the kids at home until 9:15 and in the plaza when Cura arrived at 9:30 and they were there until midnight. Do you think they ran down to the cottage (Cura missed that) and killed Meredith and then ran back to the plaza and then watched the cottage until the tow truck left. Did they think being in the plaza would be a good alibi? Did they go to Curatolo and introduce themselves for the alibi?

Are you serious? This post shows no knowledge of what the case is to suspect that Curatolo is not a reliable witness.

I need to repeat my favourite rebuttal to the claim that Curatolo is not a reliable witness.

Scroll back..... WAYYYYY back, you'll find this rebuttal.....

"Curatolo is not the one on trial here."

Which garnered a well aimed, "Huh?"

"You mean Curatolo is not subject to cross examination, that you simply have to accept on the face of it what the prosecution says? Why have a trial al all, then."

Or words to that effect. (Sorry, Grinder, for the quotes.)

Actually, yes Curatolo and Nara and Stefanoni and Mignini and Napoleoni ARE the ones on trial here - they should be at least theoretically subject to cross examination. But then again, why make this a fair trial?

More Suppressed Egrams

As I alluded to yesterday, I’ve been working on some additional testing records and have identified additional missing egrams.

Electrophoresis plate no. 375 was run on, probably, November 23, and covers a range of 20 of the samples that were amplified in RT-qPCR run no. 549 dated November 23.

These are the first PCR and electrophoresis runs completed after the period covered by the Qubit records (i.e., 11/6 to 11/14).

The following egrams have been suppressed from the records production for electrophoresis plate no. 375:

No. 939, corresponding with Rep. 59b (Kercher’s bra)
No. 944, corresponding with Rep. 59g (Kercher’s bra)
No. 948, corresponding with Rep. 63a (bloody bedsheet)
No. 952, corresponding with Rep. 64d (toilet paper from Kercher desk)

For plate no. 375, there are 12 produced egram, every one of which resulted in a Kercher profile. There are the four suppressed egrams, mentioned above, which in my opinion are likely artifact-ridden uninterpretable profiles. Also, there were 4 samples from the corresponding PCR run that failed to amplify at 50 cycles.

So, to recap:
Plate No. 375 (corresponds with PCR Run 549)
Produced Egrams: 12
Suppressed Egrams: 4 (939, 944, 948, 952)
Samples from PCR run no. 549 that did not amplify: 4

The gate is visible from the Piazza Mary watch the video. Curatolo only needed to hear sirens and look over the rail to see, The defendants were with other friends on Halloween and that can be verified.

My mistake Paul Ciolino made the un scientific video, He hears something through the closed window, maybe footsteps he says. Nara had opened her window after the scream and heard running. A harrowing loud scream is more like a siren compared to running.
.
If Curatola could hear police sirens the next day, and if the scream Nara heard is like a siren, then Curatola would also have .....?

The defense probably did not discuss the emails because he answered them too late for them to be part of his alibi. If you think he is lying about them, please prove it or withdraw the accusation. I am not sure how many times we have been over this point.

Imagine if Curatola was interrogated the way Raffaele, Amanda, and Patrick were? After an hour he wouldn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

I have wondered that also. If so, keep up the good work guys!

This was really has me amused and makes me question your ability to be logical with everyday smarts. You think if Sollecito said he emailed during the night or early morning and this fell outside of the hour of her death the police would have no interest? Really the night hours and early morning activity after a murder have no significance? You brought it up again and I had been willing to let you off the hook.

How is a child killer looking for cash for a sex change type of witness?

I agree. I would prefer if some more respectable kind of criminal had given the jailhouse snitch testimony--maybe just a plain old murderer.

neither the competence nor the motivation to do so were in place

IIRC Raffaele made a playlist around 5:30 AM, and no one considers this to be an alibi. The police have shown how much they care about Raffaele's computer activity by destroying the metadata of files such as the last access time of Stardust. They have shown their interest in computer-related information not only by the destruction of the hard drives, but also in their apparent inability to detect the Naruto file. "There is no mention of opening a business media "Naruto episode 101" took place on Thursday 1 November 2007 at 21:26." (see page. 29 in Raffaele's appeal). There is no reason to believe that the police investigated the emails and no reason to believe that they would tell anyone if they did.
