Don't use triggering words like "ugly". That's privileged as ****, and if you keep it up you're going to get a two-week vacation to think over whether you belong here!

Also, all art is inherently worthy and to claim that some art is better than others based on your privilege-laden opinion is ******** ******* and I've just decided to implement your temp ban immediately.

There is lots of ugly art with great value and I love lots of it. I won't get into listing artists as this would bore people who are not interested in art at all.

This however is not ugly art with value it is just bad, blob art.

Sure, ban the poor artist who has sold none of her fine art work :(

I hope for your sake you take this time to go to a thrift store and look at some of the great art for sale that's only considered "bad" (which, just to let you know is one of my triggering words, and now I need to take a bowl of Xanax and hide in the basement for the rest of the day, thank you very much!) because the cis white male patriarchy didn't grasp the genius of the artist.

**** ******* ***** *****, **** ***!!!

Been to many thrift stores and flea markets and have seen lots of bad, bad art that is not great in any way, just bad and it triggers me, as someone with a BFA in graphics with a minor in Art History.

I am not part of the male patriarchy, I am a sister punisher, chill girl, blah blah blah whatever the latest derogatory term for females not hip with the mad fem SJW crowd is, so get your terms correct or you will trigger my nitpicky PTSD ;)

I am simiarly triggered by poorly-done stage lighting designs.

I've never reached that zen point where I can overlook bad coverage, hot spots or poor color choices. I've been told it exists.

(ETA: and it doesn't have to be fancy to be well-done. Basic bastard amber/blue diffusion is fine by me for stage washes with appropriate FOH & special color choices)

Do you like MOBA I own their books. Love them! :D

I really don't like guns. I once had a bad experience I don't want to discuss right now but please could you just accept that I need some sort of warning before you start talking about triggers. Otherwise you'll just set me off.

But now they're over there, arguing that not all disabilities are visible. Kassiane, the usual winner in their ongoing "I'm the biggest victim" Olympics, now appears miffed that zizzle's invisible disabilities have been ignored, and has contributed to the thread in zizzle's usual kind, understanding way:

Stop erasing Snoop Dog fans!

I realized I need to amend this claim:

the person in the logo appears to have four intact limbs and two eyes, thereby excluding amputees and the ocularly-challenged?

While it's true of the "small" version of the logo, in the "large" version it's impossible to tell whether one appendage is a bent left arm or a massive pointy breast. So it may in fact be inclusive of the differently-limbed but exceedingly buxom.

Yeah, well that just makes it worse. What about us small-bosomed varieties? Why are we being discriminated against? Stupid cis-white male privilege favoring the large-breasted!

Just stop! I mean, stop! You're taunting me with your breast privilege and you probably don't even know it!

The JREF forum probably needs to invest in a trigger guard.

Ladies and gentleman

Please put your hands together and give it up to the hapless chemgeek who ironically nails the culture of A+ with one single ill thought out post.

From their Will racism stop when whites become a minority thread I'd like to present to you for your viewing pleasure...the following post.

You do not teach people to be less prejudiced against those who are different from them by making the population at large more homogeneous. Decreasing population variation does not increase acceptance of others. In fact, forced homogeneity breeds intolerance - look at subcultures that are very big on the conform or else messaging (like, say, evangelicals). They're not exactly a happy-go-lucky Saturday morning kids' special-esque paragons of tolerance. To put it mildly.

yaaaaaaayyyy /Kermit.

Tonight's award for desperate to call someone a racist goes to EllieMurskani when she rounds on her mother for agreeing with a black man that some black youth are making questionable fashion choices in this thread she created to ask how to best give mom some SJ smackdown.

And finally the WTF award also goes to the chemgeek for the following post that even after 400 readings, I still can't figure out what she's trying to convey.

I just love it when MRAs and their sympathizers try to act as if the people who say that white men don't need to be the centre of attention all the time, that their egos can take being inclusive, that they are capable of being inclusive, that they're not slaves to their desires, and that they're more than capable of treating other people as human beings are somehow the ones who hate/want to denigrate SAWCASM people.

We're not the ones who hate SAWCASM people, here. We're the ones saying you can be, and we expect you to be, better than that. To me, it seems like the ones with the lowest opinion of SAWCASM people are the ones who try to argue that we can't help the status quo because SAWCASM people can't help being predatory, oppressive ********.

Thread

Yikes. I couldn't figure out what SAWCASM stood for, and the Urban Dictionary, my usu goto was no help. I thought perhaps it was "sarcasm" with a southern accent, and decided they were looking down their collective nose at those of us south of the Mason-Dixon line, which didn't seem too inclusive for such an...um...safe space.

But lo...google has given me the answer and it stands for: Straight Affluent White Cis Abled Sexual Male. Of course it does. I should have known cis white male was in there somewhere. As far as I can determine, xie is saying that zizzles don't hate cis white males. Even though everything bad that ever happened in xie's life is the fault of said cis white males.

In addition to Stout's excellent offerings I provide EllieMurasaki's post that posits that as a white woman, she has a duty, yes, and actual duty to include people of color in her art. (She writes short stories, and not to put too fine a point on it, the one I read was...well, what's a few steps below "perfectly dreadful"? Impeccably frightful?) Of course, perhaps I'm being snobbish. Here's the story of hers I read. To refresh everyone's memory, she's offering her stories as some of the fundraising perks.

Here's the link again, just in case someone likes her stuff and wants to commission a story. $5/200-word; $25/1000 word; $50/2000-word.

:id: ... reading all this I just realized how something I had long seen as a handicap-old age-is actually at this point in time an astounding privilege! For I suspect the entitlements can will be kicked down the road for about another decade before the unfairness to those who came into the generational Ponzi chain later is fully comprehended, as the money they've been coughing up will be gone by the time they reach my age. :boggled:

Missed reading this thread, but I find what's been going on at TalkRational over the last month far more interesting-though in some ways similar-than A+. Need to spend more time here though. Some really interesting posters. :)

I checked the indiegogo link but I could only find the donate button. I was looking for the one where I get to fine them because of bad stories.

But lo...google has given me the answer and it stands for: Straight Affluent White Cis Abled Sexual Male.

I read that and thought it seemed seemed odd or at least redundant to include both "straight" and "sexual," as though someone was just desperate to create an acronym that sounded like "sarcasm." So I googled the term, and after that explanation, these were the next three results:

straight, affluent, white, cis-sexual, able-bodied, single male
Socially affluent white cis abled straight male
Straight able-bodied white cisgendered Anglo- Saxon Male

In other words, even people using the term with a straight face and no discernible hint of irony, can't seem to agree on which oppressive people it refers to. Apparently it's just shorthand for "everything we hate," wrapped up in an acronym that sounds suspiciously like a nonstandard pronunciation of a common word (which should surely be offensive to southerners, people with certain speech difficulties, and/or 3-year-olds who haven't yet learned to say their Rs right).
