Well, not yet as he only died today and has yet to be buried. Read some of his books. Fast reads, but not very memorable. Inspired many, I believe, screenwriters especially.

I reckon he lived as well as he wanted. A life better than many can expect.

Huh. Never read his books that I'm aware of, but I've enjoyed several if his TV and movie adaptations - including a few that I didn't know came from his work.

I liked:
Get Shorty
Be Cool
3:10 to Yuma
Jackie Brown

I like:
Justified. one of my current favorites.

Were his novels as humerous as the screen adaptations?

I found some throwaway humour in some of the dialogue. Sometimes I was more impressed with films based on his books, though I don't believe I've read the books the films were based on, only other books of his which were obviously just read to pass the time, and were never written to be held up as literature. He did well however.

I've read a few and most of those were great. There is quite a bit of humour in the dorm of dry one-liners.

You're missing the best one: Out of Sight.

He was gruff, blunt, and good hearted. There are storytellers and there are writers, and Leonard was good at both. He thoroughly enjoyed weaving the story, too. All in all, he did what he loved, and he loved what he did. Not a bad way to make a living.

Movie?

ETA: I looked it up. I saw it - it's the one where J Lo shoots him when he's at the top of the stairs, no? It was okay (IMO, of course), but not as good as either Get Shorty or Be Cool.
