What book is everyone writing right now?

If I just list the ones I'm reasonably serious about, it would be something like:

Short Story/Novelette

Fantasy: 3
Science Fiction: 6
Science Fiction Romance/Erotica: 2

Novels

Fantasy: 5
Paranormal Romance: 1
Science Fiction: 5
Science Fiction Romance/Erotica: 3

my dreams of becoming an author lie in shards. Yet I was the one who swung the sledgehammer. It happened two years ago, after receiving some less than favorable feedback from members of my writing group, including an unwarranted personal attack via email. I took it out on myself and my story

To be honest, I'm a little puzzled about this. I've done a lot of critiques and some editing work. I've read material from people who could barely spell, had several errors in each sentence, and who simply did not understand the craft of writing. But, I don't recall ever personally attacking anyone. If the material is that rough, you just bail out and say, "I'm sorry, the current draft is still rough for me to make an evaluation." It does get a bit tougher when you have authors who are racist or sexist or who write in cliches and tropes but you still avoid personal attacks.

As tempting as it was, I didn't set fire to all copies of my manuscript. Several digital copies still exist. Nor have I given up on the project completely, as I've been finding time to rework little details here and there. It remains to be seen when I'll ever get back to it, as I have a lot of things in my personal life that need to be sorted out first. I can't write because I feel as paralyzed as the Joycean characters who inspire me.

Is your writing as stylized as Joyce? It took him seventeen years to write Finnegan's Wake so I guess there is hope.

Were it not for my reservations, I would ask for advice like before. I would offer to share my writings for proofreading. I would likely attempt to reach out to other members here and form a writing circle, or two. However, the time isn't right, despite the six years I've had these ideas in my head.

I'm not sure what reservations you have. No book is ever finished. You work on it and work on it and then at some point you decide that it is good enough. It's never perfect. Engineering has the concept of tolerance; something is good enough if it is within tolerance. That can be a difficult concept for authors to grasp.

There's one truth that has never changed. A poorly written book beats the hell out of a great book that was never written.

A fantasy book for young adults. It features the ramifications of an iPhone stuffed full of modern films and music falling into the hands of Nazi scientists. Not sure of all the plot points yet, and am very worried that I will be too cowardly to include a scene where Hitler uses "wont be foolled again" as a political address.

It sounds intriguing.

That could be amusing! Are any of the modern films based on WWII?

Possibly. But there are lots of action films in which very european sounding actors (Schwartsnegger and Dolph Lungram, Jean Claude Van Damme) play very muscley members of a master race, boss Americans around, and kill hundreds of Russians or ethnic minorities, possibly with corrupt Americans behind them. The Nazis conclude these are propaganda films produced by the triumphant master race to sway the minds of feeble Americans.

I was toying with having The Longest Day, The Dam Busters, and other films on the Heros of Telemark on there, effectively giving a Nazi a plan to victory. Or perhaps an exploitation film along the lines of "Bella: She Wolf of the Prison Camp" or some other video nasty which might be mistaken for some kind of documentary. "It can't be a talkie. Nobody would act that badly. Or write this."

Not actually writing right now, but selling what I've written: currently posting from the Uintah County Fair in Western Park, Vernal, Utah. Wi-fi appears to be working, yay, because otherwise it's going to be a long, hot weekend.

I'm in between someone selling re-hydratable water beads and a portable massage parlor...

Finally finished my book.

I love fantasy books.

But I always wondered what it might really be like if you were an office worker who was suddenly transported to a world like Middle Earth or Narnia. Right now. With only the clothes you were wearing and an Pod
And all you have to defend yourself is a Management Strategy diploma, an extensive knowledge of 80s music and fairly decent Excel skills.

It's intended to be a sort of deconstruction of the fantasy genre through the eyes of three everyday people from Brighton. Any thoughts are welcome.

I love your cover art, the premise and the first little intro chapter. When my Kindle recharges I'll buy a Kindle copy. It looks really good. And the price is right. I love the fact we can get each other's stuff for so little cost.

Hmm, I having trouble buying this from the US. Amazon tells me they don't have a price. Can you look into that?

That's odd. I'll check. Thanks for letting me know.

Just had a look - the price is showing for me on Amazon.com. Please let me know if it still doesn't appear for you and I'll check with Amazon.

When I first clicked on your link, the price in Euros (or Pounds?) was showing. Then when I signed into my Amazon account, the message changed to "no US price" and a means to purchase the book was not available. And when I tried your link again, I got my signed-on page rather than the page with Euros I first saw.

Can you see if there is some reason international sales are not an option? What happens when you look at Tik's books from your country? Is there an exchange rate calculated and a buy option?

You guys both might be missing out on international sales, or maybe I'm supposed to click on something I don't know about?

The message is:
Kindle titles for your country are not available at Amazon.co.uk.
Please shop for Kindle titles at Amazon.com.
It says I can change the country I'm in, but it doesn't say I can changes the countries I want to buy from.

WAIT! I figured it out. It's your link that is taking me to the wrong page!
Here's the book on the US Amazon site. No More Heroes

And I have my copy. :)

I have a somewhat related question. Is there a fiction hosting site where I can post my works that have already been published in offline journals? That's a problem I've had when trying to share my published works, since some of my best stories are not available online.

I think there are quite a few. They seem to be the places thieves are raiding to sell stolen work as their own though, like fictionpress.

Or, there are a couple options for free Kindle publishing including Amazon's self publishing option if your book is complete with cover art and you' prefer to sell it rather than just post it.

Those sound cool. But the book sounds better. Are you taking booths at Gen Con or something too?

Just local bookstores, fairs, and the like right now. And there's not much local to where I am...in the future, I'd love to get to some cons, but I find the booths at some of them are very expensive. Not sure how many I can afford. Plus, I'd have to travel, get a motel, and board my dogs...

It's much cooler today. Those Water Beads do a brisk sale. Hmmm.

I may have mentioned this before, but I am currently working on a parody of the Ancient Astronaut phenomenon titled "The First Arrival". Right now, I'm going through and revising chapters 1 through 8 (or 9?). I was inspired by Blackadder, Caiaphas Cain and others while writing the book.
