This expert should have an uptake in business. He does not get rattled or led off track in the face of somewhat competent cross examination, knows how to effectively turn questions and introduce collateral concepts favorable to his client. Guy isn't doing a bang up job here, but part of that is controlled by the expert.

Bernie's getting absolutely livid sitting this one out.
 
Guy lays down on floor again, wants to know if it was possible GZ bent his wrist and fired and shot was 90 degrees.

Mr. Root says anything is possible, but that is not how people actually shoot.

Someone remind me, don't four of the jurors have CWP or husbands with CWP ? How will Mr Guys suggestion about weird firing positions resonate with people who actually have familiarity with guns ?

Damn - forgot about her. This is a masterful way to close - remind the jury why Zimmerman was concerned about crime.

The reason the timing was improper is this -

Let's assume for argument that Ms. Bertalan breaks on cross-examination and says the Zimmerman was fixated to a disturbing degree or words to that effect. As a strategy, the defense team could recognize that testimony requires rebuttal by Zimmerman himself. Too bad, Zimmerman just pre-emptively waived that constitutional right.

It's not the fact that the defense will rest in 30 minutes, it's the fact that there is still testimony to be given. It sounds like hair-splitting on its face but it's really not.

JDN asks GZ again, he will not testify. Shocker :)

MOM asking for JOA again. Then jury will come in, defense will rest.

Prosecution has 2 rebuttal witnesses, possibly 3.
 
First rebuttal witness, gym owner, Adam Pollock

ETA: Defense wants to know if he is "advertising" that it is GZ gym

MOM objects that this is not rebuttal, that was not brought up originally
 
The Defense Rests.

If the Governor has any brains at all, the minute the jury goes out,he begins preparations for a worst case scenario in case of acquittal:A repeat of the 1992 LA riots.

Nelson rules for defense objection, not proper rebuttal. Prosecution huddles, will not call David Lee.

Last rebuttal witness, Arthur Flieschman (?) ATF agent who arrested GZ in bar incident. Not available today.... they are arguing about it in front of judge.
 
If Flieshman comes in, this trial lasts another 2 weeks for surrebuttal - that would open the door to all the FBI and FDLE agents to come rushing through. Very doubtful this gets in on merits - plus it shreds the judges schedule. She don't like that.
