Anyone with a car on Wed. night?

I promise you, I'll have the same opinion after TAM. Because speaking is always just that: speaking.

I don't think bumlet was necessarily referring to "just speaking". :) I don't mean Wowbagger in that part. I mean in general.

Well, if someone wants to follow me to a cab and offer to buy me coffee, I'm still not going to say anything as stupid as "Guys - don't do that."

It's just a way to summarize "Tread carefully, my son" in a way that everyone knows. ;)

For myself, I'll just be investing in a bullwhip.

Good thinking!

I think you're not thinking what I'm thinking, though.

What I meant to say was:

Why would I give her half a cab fare, if I wasn't splitting a cab with her?

It makes no sense to, as you say, "give her half the cab fare when she gets to the Southpoint", if I wasn't splitting a cab with her. Doesn't it?

You crazy kids and your one track minds!!

Or you can just offer to pay for her whole cab ride. That way you wouldn't have to pay for 1.5 trips, and she wouldn't have to pay at all. No "splitting" involved.

That makes less sense! Why, on Earth, would I give her full cab far, for a cab that I wasn't in, at all?!
.....

I think you're on to something here.

...unless I just wanted to be nice, or something.

Wowbagger, I *********** hate to say this, but you're heading swiftly for "Guys - don't do that" territory. :)

I see how you might think that way. But, I was just trying to cheap bastard. Not one of those harassing bastards.

Because it costs you more to be in the cab than it would to simply pay for her entire cab fare and therefore no one can figure out what's happening. :)

Here, maths:

It costs you $15 to go from South Point to the airport. Then you meet up with her, and take the $15 cab ride back, which the two of you split, with you paying $7.50 and her paying $7.50. The cab has now cost you $22.50, and cost her $7.50 whereas if you just waited outside South Point and paid the cabbie on her behalf it would cost $15 in total.

Thanks for explaining the joke to everyone who didn't get it, earlier. :D

Weird how a thread about a ride from the airport could turn out so funny. :D

Can you see if you ride can give me a ride as well? This would be at 8 PM.

Sorry, I don't think they can. They're local, but not super close to the airport or South Point. I'll let you know if anything changes or if I know of anyone else getting in around the same time as you.
