Checksum at 23:57 GMT+1 on 7 July 2013: 4CAE3E911F08A0002DAC3C71712DD3A1 Robin Roberts..wmv

Both flaccon and scrappy sent me a WMV file. The two were identical, so I uploaded the one from flaccon. It's in the box.com area under the name Robin Roberts..wmv.

The video file has, amazingly, video; I'm guessing that's Robin himself giving us all a wave. :w2:

ETA: Scrappy had named is file with what he must have heard in the audio. I didn't upload the version. It would be better if everyone has a shot at listening to the file first before scrappy or flaccon revealing what they think is there.

I'll look detailed at the audio of that file when I know where to look and what to look for.
Guessing games are a waste of time.

Where are all these files now?

Thanks.

I've done an audio extract of Robin Roberts.wmv and sent it to jsfisher who will in time put it in the box.com account.

Checksum for my copy of the file is: F2CBD24CAABF35A94DEF0325C0CDF15B robin roberts wav.wav

Hi Robin!

Good to see you looking happy and well and great that you are posting clips for us. I can hear some noise but no recognisable voices or words.

Nothing paranormal so far. What is the claim please?

OK, I tried this out five or six times. Note that I did no particular analysis as such. With everything maxed out, the only thing suggested to me from the sounds was hard disk drive heads on the move. Certainly not "Robin". The only relationship I can see is that the noises have roughly the same "syllables" or cadence as it were to the word "Robin", but even then with the best will in the world, the noises have three "syllables". If I were required to state what word I best estimate was present, then that word would be "gargle" which would at best be an oral hygiene instruction from the spirits, but in reality simply me trying my best to describe how those audio blips sound.

I guess those spirits simply don't have their fingers on my wires.

The file of which tuxcat extracted the audio was not indicated to contain "Robin", this concerns a different file: VolumeNormInt.WAV, which can be found at https://www.box.com/alderbank/

It seems flaccon still thinks that experiencing pareidolia is a sign of mental illness.

That is not the case. It's perfectly normal.

The factors that cause pareidolia also help tribesmen see a tiger through the leaves of the forest. They help us hear our friend whisper to us while a loud movie is playing in the cinema. Pareidolia is just these factors working when they're not needed.

http://www.weird-encyclopedia.com/pareidolia.php

"So, maybe you've glanced quickly at that old painting of your late great, great grandfather and you can swear the eyes follow you when you're walking by. Relax! It's a human quirk. It just means your brain is trying to make sense of the world around you, a world filled with lots of cool things to see and hear and smell and taste and touch. Your camera is rolling, your microphones are open and you're ready to receive input. Just don't make the mistake of thinking that these weird little items you occasionally see around you are evidence of some supernatural mumbo-jumbo. It just means you're weird. And that's okay."

Weird is good.

Just don't let it interfere with your enjoyment of the real, amazing, non-paranormal world we live in.

Flaccon, does pareidolia still sound like mental illness to you? Could you possibly have experienced it at one time?

You need to get your ear against the port of bass reflex speakers, obviously. You're currently using audio devices that are too accurate....

Perhaps Dolby 5.1 is not the way to, you are suggesting?

ETA: Yes, I do like immerrsion in my games.

ETA2: How odd that flaccon et al have not yet figured out how to insert ETA in their posts.

Yup. The human brain is a pattern seeking machine. Being so confers a survival advantage. If you think you see a tiger through foilege and it actually is there, this pattern recognition may save you. If it's not actually there, the price you pay for the error isn't too steep... some energy unnecessarily spent running away is no big deal.

Pareidolia is a good thing, errors and all.

Blah. I think you made a huge mistake, not your fault. When I offered to fly over (not onerous, it's bus fair from here) I was going to bring an array of slick but subtle gear. Whatever you had concluded was perfectly fine, but I would have been walking away with the actual evidence. But, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Flaccon will string this out, suicide by mod would be my guess at present, given her current posting proclivities. Once again, thank you for stepping in, and making a difference.
