P&G basically debunked their own hoax with all of the **** they babbled. <snip>

This.

To me - the film has been debunked and any continued discourse is flogging a dead horse.
No rational person willing to look at the immense discrepancies and complete flights of fantasy that Patterson and Gimlin took with their statements could consider them anything other than liars.
Add to that the complete and utterly impossible timeline to get the film developed and you have a complete picture of how ludicrous anything to do with discussing the content of the film is.

There are many huge logic leaps you have to make in order to believe the film to be authentic.

* A bigfoot must exist
* Patterson said he would go get film of a bigfoot, and by golly he did. In the middle of the day, in an open area.
* The alleged animal had to walk (not run or be flushed) across an open area of land in broad day light (not directly to cover despite seeing 3 horses and 2 men, one with a rifle pulled out.
* The claimed timelines (depending on which version you choose to believe)
* Film development issue
* Not being able to produce the original film, or tell where it was developed.
* Bob Heironimus. (still has not been sued for libel by either Gimlin, or Pattersons wife despite appearing on several television shows declaring he was the man in the suit.
* The flaws seen in the suit in the film. ( the shoulder pads area, and hip area, the "diaper butt" and the sideways appearing hip wader knees, top of the bicep area, ankle area of suit pulling apart at times, amongst other areas of note)
* The footprint evidence. This and this.
* No reliable evidence of bigfoot has been found before or since the film was made in 1967.
* All claimed bigfoot evidence leads to one place (hoaxes, men fabricating stories/evidence)
* Gimlin refuses to be interviewed on camera with Heironimus. (but Heironimus is fine with it)
* DeAtley - What an interesting interview that could be about the film. Why hasnt he been interviewed on these bigfoot shows? hmm... How about DeAtley, Gimlin and Heironimus all in the same room for a nice talk about the film. (betting two of those parties are not willing to under any circumstances)
* It is 2013, and there is still no monkey.

If you can mentally leap all of those things, you might be able to believe. You might be able to convince yourself that none of those things matter. Just look at the film.

;)

And despite his claim that Patricia Patterson knew all about it, because she was watching him out the window as he was trying on the Patty suit.

Really? I hadn't heard about that one. Wow.

For me the-horse-fell-on-me-and-bent-my-stirrup vs. Roger-never-fell-off-his-horse screw up discrepancy is still the most obvious sign of a poorly planned hoax.

I thought Bob Gimlin chose not to stay involved with Patterson after the film came out because he didn't receive the money that Patterson promised.

I wonder if a doctor could be sued for malpractice for diagnosing and treating a person as delusional because they claim multiple Bigfoot sightings and it has affected their mental health.

Is the doctor vulnerable because they can't support the diagnosis because they can't prove that Bigfoot doesn't exist? Delusion is about believing in things that aren't real. So doctors must be EXPERTS on knowing what exists and what does not... including all possible cryptid creatures.

Can you sue a doctor who is a Bigfoot Denialist?
From Wiki on Malpractice : (my emphasis)

A plaintiff must establish all four elements of the tort of negligence for a successful medical malpractice claim.
  1. A duty was owed: a legal duty exists whenever a hospital or health care provider undertakes care or treatment of a patient.
  2. A duty was breached: the provider failed to conform to the relevant standard care.
  3. The breach caused an injury: The breach of duty was a direct cause and the proximate cause of the injury.
  4. Damage: Without damage (losses which may be pecuniary or emotional), there is no basis for a claim, regardless of whether the medical provider was negligent. Likewise, damage can occur without negligence, for example, when someone dies from a fatal disease.
I can't see an argument for malpractice for treating someone as delusional for believing in bigfoot (or fairies, unicorns, alien visitations, MiB).
Burden of proof / disproof of the subject of the delusion would not be required as a defence, IMO.

Yeah, didn't he claim that he went home to sleep? If I'd just filmed a Bigfoot, I doubt if I could snooze before I watched it.

That's because you ain't a sooper skilzed Apache tracker and rootin' tootin' rodeo ridin' horse breakin' salt o' the earth, sharp shootin' man's man, like good old Bob. ;)

I think Gilman not being in on the filming with Green and Dahinden was to cut him out from the very beginning. My inference is that Gimlin would have been there had DeAtley and Roger Patterson wanted him there.

They actually had a stand-in appear on their road show "testifying" that he was Bob Gimlin and that the events were true as Roger portrayed them.

Heironimus admits to being suckered by Roger Patterson, and there's no shame in that. Patterson took a lot of money from a lot of people, all of whom were exploited for their naiive trust in Roger Patterson.

But Gimlin has never talked about how Patterson exploited him and then dropped him when the money came rolling in. Gimlin seems happy with having played the Tonto sidekick to Roger Patterson's Lone Ranger persona.

Being a footer requires "selective attention". You don't hear them talking about it. The Road Trip run by DeAtley was a million dollar smash, in the 1960's where you can get away with this kind of impersonation. Had Gimlin been present, he would naturally have pressed for a lot more money than some schmooze they flashed quick cash to. For a hundred bucks they could probably find someone willing to stand up and impersonate Gimlin.

Gimlin did attend some kind of New York City reception when they tried to hit the television circuit out there. But it was a complete failure. Nobody came. They rented a hotel, invited producers, tried to promote themselves... and it was an instant fail.

The Minnesota Ice Man hoax stopped the road show. They were "four-walling" the advertising, to hit Minnisota right as the Iceman rage was going. And then the hoax was discovered. It killed the Al DeAtley bigfoot road show. They never did another one. All of this is in The Making of Bigfoot.
