The state of FL v. George Zimmerman

Zimmerman is and should be subject to the same scrutiny. Inconsistencies in her story are forgivable, IMHO, her not being able to recall if Zimmerman said, "what are you doing around here," or, "what are you talking about?" Is entirely understandable. She is not going to remember every detail in perfect chronological order. We have the witness flat out admitting to changing the story to make Trayvon sound better. That is very problematic.

I'd like to see the quote in which this occurred before rendering judgment.

The massacre continues:

11:14 a.m. ET: West asked Jeantel if she heard a noise that sounded like someone was being hit.

"Trayvon got hit," said Jeantel.

West shot back, "You don't know that do you?"

"No sir," said Jeantel.

West asked, "You don't know if Trayvon got hit, do you?"

"No sir," said Jeantel.

West asked, "You don't know if Trayvon at that moment and take his fist and drive it into George Zimmerman's face, do you?"

"No sir," said Jeantel.

I don't believe this case hinges on her testimony. The jury has heard what she has to say and can factor their feelings when they begin deliberations. I said yesterday that she's out of her comfort zone, for obvious reasons. She's done the best she could and many parts of her testimony is problematic, as sgtbaker said.

This is only the first week of this trial and there's a long way to go to the end.

Are you watching the testimony?

Under questioning by West, Jeantel said their were inconsistencies because of some of the questions posed by state attorneys and law enforcement officials as well as the length of the interviews. She also said she omitted some details of what she knew because she was trying to spare Martin's family grief.

Completely aside - she just referred to BDLR as "baldy - over there" while pointing at him to clear up West confusion on who couldn't hear her.

Including one of if not the seminal fact in dispute - who confronted whom. She said yesterday Zimmerman confronted Martin. Today, Martin confronted Zimmerman. She really doesn't have to be lying - the statements are either reliable beyond a reasonable doubt or they're not.

Who can honestly argue that they are?

Reasonable doubt only applies as a standard to proving the charges.

The testimony of each individual witness is not required to overcome that burden.

She just acknowledged that Martin confronted Martin. Didn't she assert earlier today that it was Zimmerman that spoke first again or did she acknowledge that lie yesterday?

I think her testimony proves that TM was an angry teenager who confronted and tried to kick the crap out of the cracker who had the nerve to watch him. Everything she has said shows that TM was the aggressive one with the problem.

She just changed testimony again of key point. What yesterday was "wet grass" today is Zimmerman on top of Martin. First time this statement has ever been made anywhere.

No. That's why I asked for the quote.

I'm still not seeing a quote in that link.

I guess we will have to wait until the transcript comes out. The best I can do are the local news updates.

She says Fulton would hear what she said.

West asks if that made her sensitive to her answers.

She agrees that she “cleaned up some of the language Trayvon Martin used.”

If you scroll down the exchange takes place at the 10:01 mark, this morning.

The testimony of each individual witness is not required to overcome that burden.

Also, when the defendant invokes an affirmative defense, the burden of evidence shifts to the defendant to make that case, but usually the standard for that burden is not as high as "beyond a reasonable doubt".

11:58 a.m. ET: Jenteal said she thought she could hear people rolling around on wet grass.

WTF? What sound is made when people roll around on wet grass? She's making it up.

Who's more credible?

...the statements are either reliable beyond a reasonable doubt or they're not.

Who can honestly argue that they are?

Edited personalization unrelated to the trial.

She just acknowledged that Martin confronted Martin....

This never happened.

Q: You didn't know if Zimmerman hit Marin, do you? It could as easily been Martin driving his fist into Mr. Zimmerman's face?

A: Yes, sir.

This exchange never happened.

The only common law standard has is to present "some" evidence. Zimmrman's already done that. The state will have to disprove justification BARD.

That exchange most certainly did happen.

When asked by West if she had previously told investigators that she heard what sounded like somebody being hit at the end of her call with Martin, Jeantel said, "Trayvon got hit."

"You don't know that? Do you? You don't know that Trayvon got hit," West answered angrily. "You don't know that Trayvon didn't at that moment take his fists and drive them into George Zimmerman's face."
