No, you can't guarantee that at all. The wealthy aren't trying to impress you, they are trying to impress their peers. They don't give a damn what the riff-raff like you and I think.
You need to be careful about citing an anecdote as evidence and, worse, making a guarantee based on it. It will earn you no Gucci handbag around this joint.

Sorry that you see yourself as riff raff, but I don't like being insulted. Read the definition of this forum: a place to discuss skepticism, critical thinking, the paranormal and science in a friendly way. If you can't abstain from hurling insults you need not try to converse with me. I never said I am poor, only the rich can afford to go to university in my home country. I live in luxury in one of the safest countries in the world at the current time, and will inherit a lot of money. You might be very happy about the fact that I will not be contributing to these forums for a while, as I feel I am becoming addicted to the forums. Regarding the handbag comparison:
When a person buys a handbag, they know what they arte getting. THey may well just be paying for the status of the label, but that's what they want and that's what is delivered.
In the case of psychics, there is no such assurance.
We do still get upset when people sell fake designer handbags, even if they're essentially indistinguishable from the "real" ones.
SO as soon as anyone can certify that psychics are delivering what they claim, then I (for one) will cease to be outraged by their predation.

Moreover, whether someone can communicate with the dead is not a subjective issues. Whatever we believe about JE, either he can do it or he can't do it.

I didn't say that expensive goods are always well made. But from what I know about handbags, the multi-thousand dollar ones are indeed made of better materials. This is partially so that the target market can recognize fakes, which discourages people from purchasing them. Like you, I don't think they're worth the price, but enough people do to ensure continuing profits for Hermes and Louis Vuitton.
The fact that one art student* liked a pair of inexpensive shoes doesn't mean much for the signaling value of luxury goods.
*How do you know she was rich?
Nah many luxury items these days are made on the cheap with cheap labour sometimes in the same factories that produce the counterfeits. Imo in many circumstances paying premium price for luxury goods is just as big a con as paying money for woo if there is no functional or practical benefit to paying the extra.
Most luxury goods marketers sell the story of their own Superiority just as psychics sell the story of woo, and it applies just as much to their books which are tangible as to their performances.

You can't really police people by telling them what to do with their money. It starts to become communist behavior and isn't really ethical. If people want to spend on woo they have a right
to do so. Activities such as smoking and gambling are also harmful and waste people's money, but it's not up to us to tell them to stop doing it. Casinos are illegal where I live, however, as they are seen as evil.
Yes I love astrology, just like millions of other people do. Also don't see me as a diva, although with an Aries sun and Leo moon I do have a fiery temper when provoked. Usually the Pisces in me does help to subdue me. Pisces mercury is my chart ruler, which perhaps explains my "intuition" and interest in the occult. Anyway as mentioned I really can't hang around here too much. My claim of being able to spot killers in societies does have a high creepiness factor, another reason to go under the radar. I did however also spot a man once who later became an actor, just like I predicted. I knew, however, that his good looks alone would catapult him to stardom. He claims, however, that as a teenager he was told he would never make it as an actor. So I am not only concerned with death and destruction.

Well he really is very good looking. He has doe eyes, they sparkle like diamonds. A friend of mine also commented on his beauty when she saw him in town. He was a waiter back then, but left to work in a big city when he got his first acting role. Actually he plays the role of a doctor in a soap opera. Has has had that role for years now...Famous people often visit that town we lived in, Jacob the killer lived there too but has now been moved to a prison in another area, a much worse one. He will be out of prison in 2043.

Actually university documents could prove me and killer studied in the very same town at the same time. As for the actor...long story. He was never really a fan of me either. He clearly has good intuition as well. He served me sometimes at the coffee shop. Here follows articles about the mythical Jacob, whose full name is Jacobus. Have FUN reading about this figment of my fertile imagination. Actually the first article shows him as I remember him, he clearly liked wearing beanies! Not as pale as I remember him, but it is the very same Jacob. If anyone in connection with the case is offended by these articles they will swiftly be removed from this post.
