I clicked the following link.... in a message in Gen/Skep/Para.

http://www.csicop.org/sb/show/remote...e_jordan_case/

No, I'm not going to click it again. Doing a security scan right now.

I then exited the site, went back into the sub-forum and prepared a brief response. I turned away from the screen for a second because something on the telly caught my attention and when I turned back, my screen was blacked out or maybe navy blued out and there was a little box, kinda one of those "Gotcha!" boxes they always show in any tv show or movie with hackers, and all I caught were the first two words.... "He's dead..." I don't know what else it said.

And the 'puter kicked me off the message prep screen out of the forums and off the internet and rebooted itself. It was updating recent Windows uploads, and finished its stuff and returned me not to my home screen but to the message I was prepping.

I'm running MSSecurity Essentials, now. I've had great results with it and this laptop has been clean for the 18 months I've had it.

Is this a known behavior? Or just Gates' evil minions taking over the world?

You're using Chrome, right? Google "He's dead Jim!". Should be the forth or fifth result down.
TL:DR: You can stop panicking.

Another odd thing? I just got that "He's dead Jim" page, for the first time, just a few minutes ago. It was Encyclopedia Astronautix's Cape Canaveral page (must have been a glitch at their end, it's working fine now).

Sofia's right, there's nothing to worry about...as long as you're not wearing a long sleeve red velour shirt ;)

That is waaaay cool! I like it when the evil world hegemony conspirators have a sense of humor. Built it right in, did they? (Does Google have like one wing of a building dedicated to Cool Kids? The group in charge of the special doodles is also right up there in my book.)

And thanks... I'd never have thought to Google for it.

I always thought it would be great to sneak into wardrobe whenever there were rumors of budget cutting and change a couple of key characters' uniform shirts over to the Dread Red.
That seems to be an improperly copy/pasted link to me. The ... part is a dead giveaway.

When you copy a link on VB forums use right click and copy link, don't just highlight it and then copy...

Wow. Two educational responses in one thread. This, I didn't know. (Although I didn't plant it, it probably would've been accidentally cool if I'd done it intentionally for this thread, as I initially thought it was a link to a bad page/site.)

I get "Ah Snap". How come I don't get "He's Dead Jim"? :p

I have to disable Adobe Flash Player all the time when I start getting "Ah Snaps". For whatever reason it's an intermittent problem.

I've had several "Ah Snap"s before, that was my first "He's Dead Jim!", so maybe you'll get one the next time Flash goes in the flush!:)
