Dear flaccon, how do you think you would feel if it were proved (never mind how) that you were imagining the voices?

Would you be OK with that?

My advice is that better equipment will equal less noise. Less noise will equal no spirits.

But what if the spirits communicate through the noise? What if it provides the carrier signal for them to modulate, or some such thing?

(This is the theory I would put forth if I were a spirit-believer with a small degree of audio knowledge.)

Then use Audacity to generate a tone, or white, pink or brown noise. Again, you'll have a pure signal, rather than one with outside interference.

She played several files, carefully explaining what she hears on each one. On one file I heard what she explained is her father saying Evidence although to my ears it sounded like Embleton or Wimbledon.

She played back old recordings to you, expecting you to hear voices recorded on them? That contradicts what she said earlier yesterday, when she indicated that the voices are not part of the recording, but part of the playback:
I keep explaining what they can do. They can communicate via electric cables, not via being recorded. This means that they can clearly reply within older recordings.

Please allow me to echo the thanks that others have expressed to flaccon and Alderbank for getting together and reporting back to us. It might not have been the double-blind rigorous test that many want, but it's a step---a baby step, but a step nonetheless.

So, thanks,

Ward

It wouldn't take away the first six years of witnessing certain events, or relieve the external happenings, but one family member to tell me that is not our Fathers voice, and I would consider imagination. I could wish for nothing more than to think our Father is RIP.

If it is without doubt imagination, I would seriously have to think of getting my ears tested, and accept it for the fun-side of it.

I don't wish to sound stupid (understatement) but I have little knowledge of audio equipment. My only thought is to record the recorded files, onto a different laptop, to add lots more volume, to bring out the background. I shall purchase an external mic, to compare quality.

Perhaps your children are humouring you because they feel reality would cause you pain? They may only say they hear your father's voice. Just a thought.

Pareidolia is not in the ears, it's somewhat deeper. Kinda where the apostrophe software lives too. :D

That's why it's a suggestion to use software. It's also not the first time; you even used Audacity yourself, many pages ago.

Record a perfectly empty WAV file by using Audacity. When you want to talk to your "spirits" then play that empty file in the normal way you always do.

Tell us what happens.

Hi Flaccon,

First I apologize for one of my posts. I had previously been careful to refer only to your commercial site as fraudulent, not you. I saw an opportunity for cheap laugh and took it. I take it back.

Here are my thoughts, for what it’s worth:

I don’t like the pareidolia explanation. To me preidolia is the man on the moon. It’s not a man. Pareidolia makes you recognize a man’s face in it. But it’s there. Everyone can clearly see the eyes and the nose, therefore there’s a man on the moon, even though it’s created by pareidolia.

Although people will see different bunnies in the clouds, most of the bunnies can be pointed out to other people, with varying success. In the case of your spirits, there is nothing that obvious. No one sees or hears what you see and hear. Your interpretation of images and sounds appear to me a lot more imaginative than it ought to be.

Perhaps you should take a little time to understand why that is. The spirit world can’t do this for you. Only you can. Good luck.

I am now making this post longer to apologize for its length.

Thank u, however I still need to work it out for what it truly is.

I have thought this, these spirits wish me to claim something I am not comfortable with (Special fingers) They look like perfectly normal fingers to me (and not a face in sight) Speaking of sight, that site as I keep explaining is ... (etc.. ) and it makes no odds to me to change it about. I thought to take out all the claims, so it doesn't appear like I am touting for business at all. Then purchase a new laptop, and test to see if I can actually calibrate it with identical sounds. If I can, then I could make such a claim.

I've never been into the paranormal, psychics, tests etc, but I'm willing to learn.

(I do know how surreal the story sounds, but it really is what happened)

Yes Alderbank explained how to do that. I just done one. It will only play through Audacity, and it is completely silent.
