Continuation Part 5: Discussion of the Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito case

I wonder whether anyone that thinks the interrogation planted the Patrick story believes that Amanda was convicted beyond a reasonable doubt. Are there many that believe that the interrogation elicited a false statement because of the police's actions but she was still guilty even if not proven so in court?

Conversely do any of the PGP admit that the interrogation was bogus yet still believe they convicted her beyond a reasonable doubt?

I believe the "accusation" is the major dividing line and that's why it is so important for the PGP to explain the chief's statement and why they can't. I mean Mach's attempt by saying "she told us some things that were correct" is such a lame effort.

Mignini's abuse of office case is supposed to be retried in Turin, although there hasn't been any news about it I've heard. It's a slam dunk, but who knows if it will ever come to trial again.

Obviously, but who's going to bring the charges?

Maybe the state, if the courts ever actually get to the point of awarding damages to all who can claim them, including Lumumba and family, Amanda and family, Raffaele and family, the entire Kercher family and, of course, a few Italian taxpayers.

What are the chances, I wonder?

Have stranger things really happended?

The Florentine prosecutors have already gone after him once. As we know that means that the judges there allowed it. Obviously, I have no knowledge of this aspect of the Italian legal system but they might now have jurisdiction because of being assigned the appeals trial.

Mignini has been 'gaming' the system for decades.

He was indicted and convicted of illegally surveiling (bugging/phone-tapping) certain officials and journalists.

As with Guede's break-ins, are we to believe that the instances in which he was caught were the only ones he perpetrated?

Please.

The question is; what dirt has Mignini accrued via these methods over the years and decades, and exactly how much 'leverage' does it give him in the higher courts?

I think the chances are very slim. These guys really do have a knack for wriggling out of everything. It would take a paradigm shift for that culture to stop blaming the PYT.

yeah, it appeared his 'analysis' of the case was based on pretty superficial grounds like those, his remarks were cringeworthy, like he lifted them directly from the 'press packets' pmf and tjmk likes to send out.

I got to thinking about it and i don't think it occurred to him that what he said was basically the same as what he condemned amanda for being an 'awful person' because of: Amanda's confused 'accusation' of patrick. Dershowitz said the evidence was 'strong' and she'd likely be convicted again, which essentially amounts to saying she was a murderess. Unlike amanda he didn't have a dozen cops around him him in the middle of the night after half a week with little sleep telling him untrue things and insisting they had hard evidence proving she had to be there with the person she exchanged texts with.

Plus there was no qualifier as strong as 'confused' in his statement, he even went on to claim he'd advise the kerchers to sue against the book advance on preponderance of evidence grounds, apparently thinking it would be a slam dunk! I wonder how he'd like serving three years in prison for his accusation? After all he's supposedly a top defense attorney and thus should be able to determine she's innocent by even a cursory examination of the evidence, unless of course he's just a fraud or a media whore who'll say anything to get attention. however my guess is he's just clueless about the case and was easily duped by the bunnies.

bingo!

What's funny is with all of the expertise on this case in this forum, I don't think any PIP has put up a theory as to what the CA is going to demand in its motivation.

Could it really be about matching things up with the Guede trial motivations? I think that is what Machiavelli put forward, but I wouldn't pretend to understand how the Italians could go through all of the cases in which defendants are tried separately and ensure the results somehow match up, or how they could expect them to do so. I also wouldn't understand how they could decide to overturn one rather than the other when the results are conflicting. It sounds like nonsense to me, and maybe it is.

She is the DNA "expert". Please try to keep up.

So much expertise, so few facts...

I'm busy searching the Seattle news sources for unsolved murders before 2007. I'll get back to you when I find any that resulted from sex games gone wrong.

"In the first place a period of 13½ years is not, in DNA terms a long time. Good results have been obtained 20 or 30 years after the event and Dr Budowle even gave the example of DNA extracted from bones 60,000 years old. If the substance containing it is dry and out of sunlight it will not degrade for many years."

Quick! Don’t tell the Groupies™! They’ll wax vexatious that the 40-something day limit doesn’t count for Raffaele. Did he climb in the window? Or did he take Amanda's keys while she was sleeping?

Do you hear that sound, Cat?

It's the sound that testimony makes when it whooshes right over the heads of a bastion of bloated and/or brain dead hairdressers, autobody shop workers, furriers, undereducated 'law enthusiasts' and semi-senile swillers of screech.

This is an exchange from over there. What is interesting is the last comment by one that alleges not only to be a lawyer but one that went to a three year school.

What they seem to miss is that no one has alleged that the DNA on the bra clasp went bad in 47 days but rather that it be contamination or worse. What they don't seem to be able to comprehend, even with three years of law school, is that there is a huge difference between DNA and LCN or "touch" DNA.

They like to say that if Steffy's DNA work isn't acceptable for the kids then how about Rudi. With Rudi it wasn't just the one piece of DNA, it was multiple instances of DNA and they were found with normal procedures, not ones that went beyond the kit's bounds. In addition his shoe prints were found (no thanks to the ICSI) and hand prints as well as his confession to being there both in the Skype call and to the police in Germany and Italy.

Are they really that dumb or do they think repeating such BS helps their cause?

This is an essential irony of the case. The most evil thing Amanda did was "accuse an innocent man." But it's okay when ILE does it.

But not just ILE...there is also Lumumba who clearly lied and continues to lie about the details of Knox and her employment. His characterizations of her as an actor...

Then we have Lumumbas lawyer calling her a "luciferina" and a witch in court without proof that she is either.

Guede certainly lies and Mignini helps him in his crimes even going as far as reading a letter in court that Guede supposedly wrote himself but then apparently had trouble reading his own letter and which was so strange that one professional judge Zanetti felt the need to question Guede if he even understood all the words in that letter.

John Kercher lies in his articles and in his book supposedly about his daughter who he often claims has been forgotten all while doing so himself and yet he misses the irony of that.

Maresca lies because he is paid to do that.

And so on.

Mary, Mary,

Don't you remember the prank she pulled at the UW? Why don't you think the victim of this prank ever came forward? I'll give you a hint. She isn't alive anymore. I'm sure the UW hanger-on that masquerades as a student a the UW and thanks people for stopping by the Husky Den (they think she's odd) can recall the details just like she claimed that Amanda's house party was the talk of the faculty. (It wasn't)

I think a woman disappeared in the sound off West Seattle shortly after Amanda's release and the PGP were on that like the flies they are.

I am so dying to come up with a funny retort to this one but I'll just leave it be. :D
