Would anyone else be interested in this? There's an offer on for the next few weeks where a bus tour starting from the Strip to the Canyon is only $79. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do it regardless, but the long bus ride would be much more tolerable with a larger group. Maybe plan it for the Monday or Tuesday depending on when people are leaving to go home, but I'm flexible.

I'm definitely intending to get to the Grand Canyon this year, so it's tempting, but that looks like a very long day (and it looks as though you'd have to get to the Strip for the 7:15 am start), so I'll have to look at what the other options are.

You're right, although an early start should mean a longer time spent there. I'm not booked with them or anything, it's just the first option I found on the Google and seemed far cheaper than when I last looked, but feel free to suggest alternative packages if you find any.

I didn't take it that way, it literally was the first and only thing I'd googled so there very well may be better options.

Last year, I rented a car and drove through Death Valley at 116F..... Full day driving and stopping along the way. It was awesome.

I've read mixed reviews about the helicopter tours, it's apparently not as good as experiencing it the other way.

The list isn't loading for me either.

The other end of the scale is a helicopter trip, which is four or five times the price, but does take a lot less time to get there and back. http://www.papillon.com/las-vegas-tours/helicopter-landing-tours/grand-celebration-tour is one possibility, but I'm still looking.

ETA: The page which lists which hotels they pick up from doesn't work for me. http://www.papillon.com/general-information/hotel-pickup

I did this for Shrimploaf last year for his birthday. They did pick us up in a limo at the South Point, but when we got to their office we weren't able to go up that evening due to a storm over the canyon. They took us back to the hotel and picked is up again in the morning. We went to another office and went out for picnic lunch in the canyon.

It was nice that we got it done in 4 hours and saw more than we would have wanted to after driving the whole time.

I've just booked this one for the monday. It's an early start, but that means an early finish too. Plus it has a Groupon deal for $79 and it had the best reviews of any tour company I could find on Trip Advisor. And the website has that nostalgic 1995 feel to it.

Sounds like a good tour and if you have only one day it is the best option out of Vegas.

Be aware, you will be at the West rim, which is spectacular, but is not quite as deep or wide as the South rim (which is 100 miles farther as the crow flies and several hundred miles farther by road).

Still, I don't think you'll be disappointed--and you'll definitely want to come back to see more.
