Not all of them are EDL supporters, the first tweet is clearly from someone in Scotland, however a number of the tweets are to the leader of the EDL- the leader of the EDL later tweeted about it.

The second link is a screengrab of a discussion on an EDL facebook page, you can see the title of the album, which is taken from the name of an EDL created event.

Thank you! All I said in my first post was: "Sorry if I missed it, but where is the evidence that these are EDL supporters?"

You're the first one to actually give me a real reply. I'm not particularly familiar with the EDL, so I don't know who that person is, but I am assuming from his Twitter name that he's associated with them. If that is, indeed, the case, I retract my earlier statements about the OP being incorrect. Although I still don't think the second example that was linked to shows any connection to the EDL.

ETA: I missed your comment about the second link. I see now that it is an EDL page. Thank you. Still don't know why the thread title is about EDL when it doesn't seem to be particularly confined to them.

he is the leader of the EDL. The second is from an EDL support page on facebook with a collection of images taken of an EDL rally, plenty of connection.

This made me want to see what the picture was... but the link replacing the picture gets me redirected to the TinyPic website. No picture, but a download button. It wanted my phone number in order to let me download something (presumably the picture).

It's a screen cap of a FB discussion between far right *********, one spouts off a list about how Muslims are evil cos it's all in the Kerrang, innit.

Someone points out that the islamic holy book is the Koran (Kerrang is a heavy metal music magazine).

In even other EDL news, Help for Heroes rejects EDL donation cash.

Forces charity Help for Heroes has announced that it will not accept any donations raised by the leader of the English Defence League Tommy Robinson.

The EDL leader started fundraising following last week's murder of soldier Lee Rigby in Woolwich, south-east London, but a spokesman for Help for Heroes said the Just Giving page set up by Robinson would be closed down and all donations would be refunded.

The charity will check for any further donations from EDL members and said they would not accept any donations from the group.

A Help for Heroes spokesman said: "He is the only one that has come to our attention but tonight we will be doing a cross-count to make sure that anyone else saying they are EDL will not be allowed to fundraise for us.

This thread has been up a couple days, without me clicking it, because I had no clue who the EDL weas/is. It isn't until the 30 posts that sokebody tells us. I diunno who taught the OP communications skills, but you ought to spell out the definition of abbreviations, once.

Now that I know the thread is about the Ergonomic Design League, I won't bother .

I just saw another report of the same story, with some more details and quotes.

No. We only heard about the riots through Facebook. They arrived an hour later than expected, though: at 3pm instead of 2pm. When they turned up, we gave them biscuits and offered them tea, coffee or orange juice. They arrived with a St George's flag, but I didn't dare tell them that St George is actually Palestinian! I think that would have started another row.

How did you approach them?
Some of our people went out and started a dialogue with the supporters. They handed us a petition saying that the Muslims in York shouldn't be entitled to a mosque. We ignored it. When they finished shouting, we asked if they would like to come and have tea in the garden. They looked at each other and said, "Yeah, we will." So they did. In the end, they even played football with us.
