"The FBI obtained a sealed search warrant to read a Fox News reporter's personal emails from two days in 2010 after arguing there was probable cause he had violated espionage laws by soliciting classified information from a government official, court papers show.
The case marks the first time the government has gone to court to portray news gathering as espionage, and Fox News officials and 1st Amendment advocates reacted angrily Monday after the secret warrant was reported by the Washington Post."

The defense of this should be interesting.

Even Juan Williams is upset by this!! And it takes a great deal to upset a flaming liberal like Williams vis-a-vis the current regime.

Oh no! Our police state was targeting conservatives! It's only supposed to use its powers against hippies and foreigners!

Hmmm, I seem to recall quite a furor over the various WikiLeaks postings some years back and plenty of conservatives and others happy to see the arm of government attempting to track down and punish those who supplied the leaked information.

Or is my recollection faulty?

Nope!

If *anybody* breaks the law or looks as though they may be I hope we have a full FBI investigation no matter who they are.

Republicans have no ideas to help the country. Republicans only hope is to keep the focus on the "scandals" of the Democrats.

The good Republican skeptics on this forum march in lock step with that philosophy.

Just change one word in this post and you sound exactly like one of the Tea Party people you hate so much.

If there was indeed probable cause that someone violated espionage laws, and if such laws are justifiable, then I see nothing to defend here. Is that not the case?

Do you recall the government going after, say, the New York Times reporters covering the story?

Nobody here is saying the government shouldn't go after leakers.

I assumed the FBI were finally launching a fraud investigation over the use of the word 'news' in the FOX name...

How dare a black democrat try to keep government secrets from being leaked! That is a job for white people.

Was the New York Times the 1st to publish the story? If other papers only re-report a story from the one that broke it, it's not likely the place you would go with your warrant.
