Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

Ah, religion. You can make of it whatever you want--it's all make-believe anyway.

And did it say wether it was virgin women? Or just virgins of any kind? Virgin is quite a broad term these days. I expect they might be disappointed. Or in the very least, quite surprised, when they found that reading the small print was probably a good idea.

Word to the wise, kblood. There is a time and place for your particular brand of discourse. I respectfully suggest this thread is not it.

And did it say wether it was virgin women?

The Arab journalist never asked them, that's for sure.

I read where a consultant in the Middle East was approached by Sacha Baron Cohen for help in contacting al Qaeda members. Cohen had an idea for a movie scene where he would meet with terrorists as Borat and show them photos of men having gay sex. He would then innocently ask them if the men were being tortured.

The consultant said he told Cohen to "absolutely forget it." That al Qaeda members don't do humor. The consultant said he told Cohen, if he showed them photos of men engaged in gay sex, "They would probably kill you on the spot. Then they will kill your entire film crew. Then they will go out in the street and probably kill anyone who reminds them of you."

That is an anecdote with precisely NO supporting evidence. Yet oddly, it would not surprise me.

The anecdote about Borat and al Qaeda was from a Steve Coll article with former CIA agent John Kiriakou in the April 1, 2013 issue of The New Yorker. Only a snippet of the article is available to non-subscribers but many libraries have The New Yorker magazines in their collection, possibly even in the UK.

"When you attack one Muslim, you attack all Muslims,"

And they knew there would be no other Muslims there that day because...?

Not to mention all the violence between various factions of Muslims we have seen...with Sunni vs ***** being the most obvious....

It would not take a expert on the Mideast and Muslim extremism to predict that if Cohen had carried out his idea, it would not have ended well for him.
Cohen is a very funny guy, but he showed a pretty startling lack or reality even thinking about doing that.

I'm going to assume you meant "Shiite" and simply typoed, rather than that the Sunnis have a war against waste products :)

I'm going to assume he used the 'other name' for Shiites. The one that has four letters, begins with a 'S,' ends with an 'a' and has 'h-i' in the middle. That gets asterisked on almost every message board!

Hmmm. If I'm getting you right, the word you're expressing does not seem to be the same as Shiite. According to Wiki:
Shita is an ethnic group of South Sudan and Ethiopia.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shita_people

ETA: And apparently it gets passed by the censor. But spelling "Shiite" without one of the "i"s:

*****.

That gets blocked :)

ETA2: OR were you referring to Shia? I don't think that one's blocked either.

Former CIA agent John Kiriakou spent many years in Pakistan and the Middle East, was a Middle Eastern studies grad and fluent in Arabic. He had served as a consultant for a number of film projects. While he couldn't pick up the phone and call al Qaeda he had contacts that could've put Cohen in touch with al Qaeda members.

You mean like Shia Labeouf? Why would that get asterisked?

al Qaeda says it is okay to kill innocent people in the name of Jihad. Yes, they said any Muslims inadvertently killed will reap their reward in paradise. Non-believers are infidels, they're not innocent by definition, their very existence is an affront to God.

I'm sure the Tsarnaev boys were well aware of that.

So how about collateral damage caused by american attacks, do the muslims killed there join the club of "killed in the name of Jihad"? Because if that´s the case they´d go to paradise and should be grateful to the americans...

Good morning Stellafane.

This story is popping up all over but so far no information. Most articles say more info will come out this morning.

NBC NEws reporting on their twitter page that person shot dead and Tsaranev(sp?) were both involved with double homicide in 2011 in Florida, drug deal gone wrong apparently.

What a strange turn this case has taken!

[Ibragim Todashev] a friend of Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev implicated himself and Tsarnaev in an unsolved triple homicide before authorities say he instigated a violent confrontation that resulted in his death early Wednesday morning, CBS News correspondent Bob Orr reports. Link

FBI agents say that early this morning during questioning in his apartment, Ibragim Todashev suddenly lunged at an agent with a knife and was then shot.

I know one thing, whoever that agent is, his Bosses are going to be very very angry with him. I know enough cops to know, when investigators kill a person of intense interest -- no matter how justified -- the police brass are not happy. (Though they always close ranks in public.)
