"masculinity crisis" in the UK

The country that gave the world Hugh Grant is just addressing this now?

I'd have said this is a "yesterday's problem" that the current generations of young males have already dealt with. (In broad generalities.)

Diane Abbott likes the spotlight and will say almost anything to stay in it.
Too true! Masculinity crisis, femininity crisis ... See http://www.christian.org.uk/news/diane-abbott-pornified-society-is-harming-girls/ At least it keeps her from having to talk about things like wars and social inequality that might force her to take a political stance.

I've just learned there is a MAN in England named "Hilary" and that's his first name.

Hard to tell. Perhaps it will get sorted out after the ongoing crisis.

I didn't get it. Are people being too masculine or not masculine enough?

I think the problem was that Diane Abbott hadn't been on the telly saying anything attention grabbing for a while and so she said something without thinking it through properly.

I think it comes down to what "real men" do. Real MenTM exhibit all the positive aspects of masculinity but none of the negative aspects (even though they are two sides of the same coin). Interestingly enough it seems that there have never been any Real MenTM
Diane Abbott said:
today's generation is "caught between the 'stiff-upper lip' approach of previous generations and today's cultural tornado of male cosmetics, white collar industry, and modernised workplaces".

So in the past men weren't Real MenTM because we were emotionally closed wife beaters and now we're not Real MenTM because we're porn-addled metrosexuals :D
