Continuation Part 5: Discussion of the Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito case

i'm surprised they didn't find some prints on Amanda's lamp, given it probably had a metallic or plastic surface ideal for prints. does anybody know if it was even tested for prints?
Michael at dot net has this info. I already told you.

Dr Tesla said:
the best evidence and really unassailible proof of the cleanup effort is that lamp on the floor in the bedroom. just can't see any other reason why it would be in there, especially on the floor. the fact that it doesn't seem likely rudy put the lamp on the floor prior to the murder (b/c his footprints indicate he left immediately after the murder) seems to only leave Knox or raf as the person who put it in there, given it's her lamp and she's the accused. I guess friends of Amanda argue Meridith borrowed it but I don't buy that b/c the two were not best buddies and you'd think tensions b/t them would prevent this kind of borrowing of each other's stuff. plus why would it be on the floor if she borrowed it for light? Hmmmmmmm. so many questions , so few anwers. :)

Now look here. I am a lawyer and a Brit and I say you're wrong.

They didn't remember well, only they admit it. Drugs do mess with memory. It is significant that he messed up with the buses. He testified he was high that night and every night. He denied seeing anything when questioned by the police. What did Galati say about the quality of his testimony?

Really, they smoke a joint and can't remember their involvement in the death of Meredith, I bet they would be the only people ever to smoke a joint a loose their memory quite like that, not very likely, but again, the innocent side have to believe this, otherwise they are guilty. The buses were the night before, but no way Amanda and Raff were there the night before, that is a simple error anyone could make given the time and the fact it wouldn't have that important to him at the time. Toto did see them, but again, if he did, then you have no case again so to you, it can't be possible. I have no idea who Galati is, but I am sure when Toto gave his testimony in the trial, he was well received and amazed those in the court that day.

Improve your case and drop Curatolo.

My case covers everything, and everything fits in perfectly, also it is the only one I've heard so far that does. It took years to formulate and changed slightly several times, but it came from listening to all sides of the argument, both side have some of it right, but where they go wrong is in the absolute belief in innocence or guilt. Toto does not get dropped, he fits in perfectly.

Did you ever wonder why they didn't ever interrogate or for that matter even ask Raffaele much of anything about the murder? The statement they got from him is all about what Amanda was doing. They'd later arrest him, but they would sit and go after Amanda for hours about someone else, and then arrest Patrick on the basis of those confused delusional-sounding statements. Why do you suppose it never occurred to them that Raffaele might be the rapist? After all they must have realized Amanda didn't do the raping part, yet still it never occurred to them that Amanda might be protecting Raffaele and then to be skeptical about such a ridiculous 'witness' statement?

We know they had Amanda and Raffaele's phones tapped, we know they had taped their conversations in other parts of the police station, we know they were following the both of them.

We also know they were aware Amanda had met Patrick the day (or day before) the interrogation and thought that relevant enough to include in the statement they typed up for her. We know they'd soon get a 'witness' to Patrick's bar being closed. We know they were looking for an African man the days directly after the murder and before arresting Raffaele, Amanda and Patrick.

So when they shoved that phone in Amanda's face and demanded she tell them who she had exchanged texts with, are you certain they didn't know who that was already? They certainly had the ability to find out, they'd proven they were very interested in who Amanda was talking to and what she was saying, and we know they were very sensitive to any 'suggestion' (:p) that they might have had something to do with the arrest of Patrick outside following the commands of the (nearly) teenaged Demoness who'd enslaved them so completely they couldn't think straight.

One little girl, twelve police officers, some of whom with experience breaking Mafioso, who do you really think was running that interrogation? Who was asking the questions and insisting on answers they wanted and making the demands?

Remember, they'd insist that Amanda had buckled and given them the answers they knew to be correct, they said that right when they announced the 'case was closed.'

He's still a corrupt lying scumbag. So there!

I think you are giving too much power to the cops and the prosecuter. you sound real paranoid to me. I just can't believe the cops and Mignini are PURE EVIL as you Knox friends do. just doesn't make much sense they are going to torture this dumb bimbo college girl. why pick on her and not the other roommates. I don't get it?

Mine makes perfect sense, your does not, in order for the innocent side to make sense, you have to totally disregard so many things that happened, their lies, the way they acted, the staged break in, the foot print out of Meredith's door and who locked it, and that cart wheel that Amanda now says was the splits, the bare foot prints, the mixed blood the bathmat, it just goes on and on and not only that, look at how many people you have that have to totally lie, be totally inept in their jobs, police, science investigators, judges and on and on and on.

Sherlock, what it appears hasn't quite sunk in is that the entire case against Raffaele and Amanda was constructed by someone (Mignini) who went looking for every little thing he could as the sort of 'evidence' you think is of validity because there wasn't any real evidence. He then had the help of his 'Flying Squad' and the little lab tech he made a big part of his team to go pushing the sort of nonsense like 'mixed blood' and of course Curatolo was a favorite 'witness' of his having testified for him in two previous murder trials. He elicits possibilities from his 'experts' and creates 'evidence' that way, and got the press to help him in pursuing them, and if they print things he dislikes he files charges. How many people has Mignini now filed charges on related to this case? I lost track when it exceeded twenty!

As for the cartwheels. Did it ever occur to you to wonder why when he and the Perugian police were regaling the press with outright lies/shoddy mistakes regarding this case to the detriment of Amanda and Raffaele, and the press was looking for and getting the same through sources like the English girls, that no one ever heard anything about this magnificent 'cartwheel?'

Do you remember the first time anyone did? It was the day Napoleoni, Ficarra and Zugarini testified on the interrogation. Earlier at a press conference Profazio mentioned it for the very first time, then the other three all mentioned it in their testimony. The word for that day was 'cartwheels.'

I wasn't paying attention but I read somewhere that Naploeoni and Zugarini got in a little trouble, it seemed they had LIED about something to get back at someone, do you know the details? I also heard Profazio was in a little trouble too, what was that about? Does anyone know?

Because they stuffed it up bigtime, but convinced themselves she was responsible and must be guilty of something. Plus they figured they could get away with it.

They had the attention of the press, they were celebrated for 'solving' this big murder, a case almost unheard of in the annals of crime, they broke the rules doing it---do you suppose they were going to admit they were wrong and suffer the consequences of their haste? Especially when they had managed to convince most the press of three nations (at that juncture) that Amanda was a psychotic, hedonistic diabolical fiend? 'Foxy Knoxy' who would 'kill for a pizza?'

Some people bought into it wholesale, they've now spent more than five years in environments where the thought of Amanda and Raffaele being innocent is verboten, and twisting everything beyond the bounds of reality in order to convince themselves they still must be. From all the crap that's been wafting around lately they must be 'revisiting' all the old lies/mistakes that the police put out at the the very beginning.

It's a fascinating phenomena, it's not unique to Amanda's case either, this was just a witch hunt.

I don't think you can call it a witch hunt if she has no alibi for the night of the murder of her roommate in her house. that's going to make you suspect no. 1 every time. if she had an alibi this case would have been put to rest long ago. what is the probabliy not one thing proves where you said you were the night of the murder of your roommate. not just only that, but not one thing proves your boyfriend is where he said he was the night of the murder of your roommate? especially in the era of the internet and cell phones and social media, in a college atmosphere in which you have a lot more social opportunities available than you do as you get older.

Mignini has the case all wrong, the reason is simple, he is trying to find them guilty of murder, while he knows they are involved, he cannot find evidence to the fact because there is none. Amanda and Raff can not tell the truth now because it would mean they were lying all along about their involvement, most would then think they are still lying and are guilty of murder, they are now stuck in their lie probably forever. Sucks

As for the cartwheels, who knows, splits - cartwheels, personally, I think it was just a mistake in translation from Italian to English, I thin a lot of these poorly reported things happened the same way.

i'd say Knox supporters bring up her cartwheel and some of her other weird behavior than Mignini or guilters ever do. that is all curious behavior but it def. was not the evidence Mignini presented that convicted of her murder. the cell phone evidence, for example, is a million times more compelling than the cartwheel but I never see you guys bring that up as evidence of Mignini's determination to find her guilty no matter what for reasons that still unclear to rational people.

I think you are trying to be too smart by half by saying they were there but didn't participate. i think if any truth to that their lawyers would have told them to be honest about being there but deny they participated. to me, that would have been the smart defense strategy even if they had participated in the murder, especially in light of Italy's lax sentencing rules. it IS much harder to prove they actually committed the murder, we agree on that, than prove they were at the cottage that night.

it doesn't make any sense that rudy spearheaded this murder.

this may be pure conjecture on my part, but I feel like this forum has started to tilt toward the belief Knox and Raf are guilty as charged due to my relentless logic.

And THANK YOU - everyone on this site needed exactly what you have brought, you have done an excellent job battling wave after wave of, whatever they call themselves. I may not agree with all your points of view, but I do like the way you have stood up to them, good for you.

I think Amanda freaked out when Rudi attacked Meredith, I also don't think either of them knew Rudi had murdered Meredith until after 11:00 when they went back again, Amanda screamed, they left and sat down and made the worse decision they could of, instead of calling the police and telling them what happened, they decided to pretend they had nothing to do with it, they locked Meredith's door, broke the window to show how the murderer got in and deliberately left the front door open to show how he got out. Meredith's locked door did nothing to help Rudi, but it allowed Amanda to come back the next morning and find the door open, the broken window, call police and then discover Meredith.

nah i can buy Rudy got aggressive with Meridith in his advances on her especially if he was drunk and/or stones but I can't see him sticking the knife her throat. he was the one sexually assaulting her then it doesn't make sense that he was the one to stab her, b/c clearly he had help pinning her down.

i think they would have just admitted the truth by now if that's how it went down. there is no way they could have kept up the lies about it if they didn't commit the murder and they would have flat out accused Rudy of it fairly early on, and it would have seen credible if it was true b/c the facts would start to match up, I think.

i wonder if they are envious of Rudy now, and wish they had just done the fast tract trial, b/c he is getting closed to finishing his jail term while they will probably be fighting their charges another 2-4 years and then in jail for a long time after that. seems like it's almost better to just admit guilt in a country like Italy with lax sentencing but a real drawn out trial process to the ease of getting an appeals trial and the fact the supreme court has to sign off on every verdict.

I'm convinced Amanda would have, it were not for her father, remember in jail, the 'I can not lie, I was there'. I think her dad, mom, and lawyers wouldn't let her, she didn't kill Meredith so there could be no evidence that she did, plus, like I said earlier, if she changed her story, no one would believe she only had a minimal involvement in it. Look even now, if she came out tomorrow and claimed my story as the truth, everyone would think her guilty, even the FOAKERs.

Definitely, if your guilty.

nah i don't believe there is any good side to Amanda, she clearly blamed her boss in a effort to escape personality responsibility and to divert the police's investigation until she could think of something else to say and i think she was probably deluded enough to think he might be found guilty of the crime, that's why she never recanted her false accusation. i think the fact she is majoring in creative writing in college is interesting b/c she does seem to think she can come up with creative spin to get of every situation. Most people would have seen that falsely accusing an innocent person would only make it tougher for her down the road and resisted doing that even if they were beating her which just isn't believable given they had not even called her into the police station for questioning, and they had no reason to want to jail some guy named Patrick that they didn't even know.

i can see her parents pressuring her in the sense that they probably believed in her innocence no matter what but I don't get the impression Knox even really likes her parents that much, especially her dad (biological dad). according to one of her cell mates in prison, Knox never seemed that excited about her parents coming to visit, realy only thing she got excited about was getting a Harry Potter book or some other book to read.

Amanda had an alibi, they arrested him after scaring the piss out of him while he was stoned and convincing him he must be wrong about which day was which. Do you suppose he was going to argue with them?

Raffaele had an alibi too, on his computer. They took the information they liked off it, dismissed the rest, some of which was lost that night he was in the police station. If they checked his alibi that night they'd have erased (remotely) the 'last access' of it, the other three computers were rendered unreadable in their hands, though it's possible that was just incompetence.

Did you know that shortly before the appeal the defense filed an addendum to the appeal as they'd found the screensaver and keyboard light files showed regular use all throughout the night (and even the most unlikely times of the murder)? It was protested on the grounds it was filed too late, that won't be the case the next time around. Amanda and Raffaele were watching movies in bed, then messing around, the computer was on the bed and probably near it if it wasn't and reacted all through the night (until ~12:30 AM or so) to movement.

You're not going to read anything about this (or if you do not the truth about it) with your current choice of information sources. Is it absolute proof? Not exactly, the screensaver did go on for six minutes or so, suggesting if he kept the default settings that it wasn't disturbed for ~26 minutes, and of course Mignini could argue that Raffaele being a computer major had re-programmed it all (no doubt at the command of his Dark Mistress Amanda!) as part of their diabolical plot.

But yeah, there is evidence of what they were doing, but all Mignini has to do is 'hypothesize' his way out of it. He's not stupid, he's a brilliant kook. He can always find a possibility he's still right, and those who think he's nuts he can file charges on as they must all be part of a plot against him.

What 'cellphone' evidence? Are you talking about that nutty spam that The Machine (Harry Rag) and his merry band of 'Mandy'--haters spread throughout the ether? Most of that is mere sophistry, mistaken (Massei made an error in his Report on that issue--that can be proven by the hard evidence and he refers to it correctly elsewhere) or based on the fact that some locations had two towers serving them. Go out and find one and bring it here, it's not that tough to untwist but its not been seen in a while. Or you could read the threads and you'll find that garbage has been thoroughly discredited time and time again. Why do you suppose there's been something on the order of 100k posts on this subject here? ;)

As for Mignini, remember what happened to him. He was just an eccentric prosecutor who all of a sudden got major media attention for his 'investigation' of the Monster of Florence case. To make a long story short he made a bloody fool out of himself and ended up charging on the order of 20 people for being part of or protecting some satanic cabal responsible for the murders of a long-inactive serial killer. He ended up getting prosecuted himself and convicted of abuse of power, but (eventually) got the conviction quashed on a technicality which amounted to him having pissed off so many people in Florence he argued he couldn't get a fair trial there. It may end up being re-prosecuted in Turin, though sometimes things like that end up getting dropped in Italy.

In this case he did the same thing, essentially, came up with a bizarro theory for what was actually a pretty straightforward burglary turned rape/murder when the occupant returned unexpectedly. Again he ended up filing charges on more than 20 people, off the top of my head it's probably up to somewhere like 25-30 now. His entire life's work is on the line here, his 'legacy,' and his perhaps even his freedom. At this juncture he has to win otherwise he'll be remembered as some nutcase who ruined or damaged so many lives through abusing his office. He's the sort who cares about that judging by how he's courted the press and controversy the past decade or so.

Do friends of Amanda ever consider that their attacks on the prosecuter, on the police, on the DNA experts like Dr. Stef, on the various reporterss like Vogt and Nadaeu, might be seen as over the top and just not believable and actually be hurting the case for her innocence?

you are really alleging that there is some kind of criminal conspiracy b/t prosecuters, the police, dna experts, reporters, and others to find Knox guilty of murder at all costs. you'd almost think all these people don't get paid unless Knox is found guilty b/c it sure seems unreal to me that they would be this passionate about some college bimbo being found guilty that they basically break the law or lie or whatever to make sure it happens. Mignini prosecutes a lot of other cases too and this is just one case out of many for him. he's nto going to lose his job if she's found innocent. that's not how it works.

you are just parroting Doug Preston's nutty talking points about Mignini now. you are too eager to believe that guy.

mignini has been given the green light to proceed in that Narducci murder investigation. He never proposed the satanic rite theory in the MOF case, which was investigated back in the 1980s and the theory was developed by somebody on it back then. There was evidence that the doctor was murder when some phone calls were intercepted that said as much and the doctor's own wife belives he was murdered, so that's how it was investigated. it's obviously a complicated case but there does appear to be a cabal of people who obstructed justice in the investigation of that murder. the case itself is weird and I tthink Preston and others know that but they still try to to make Mignini out as a nut simply b/c he is looking into this weird case.

there is no relation b/t the Knox trial and the Nardicci case, other than Mignini was part of both. Preston appears to have a personal beef with Mignini for interrogating him for obstruction of justice in the MOF stuff, and it does seem like Preston and Spezi were pretty aggressive in pushing their theory of the MOF killer and there does seem to be some truth that they might have planted evidence to support it. I never heard of a writer accusing somebody of a crime, a murder in their book, but that is what Preston/Spezi did and in my mind that should be a felony....how would you like to be accused of murder by some fiction writers in their book? that would piss me off.
but reality is Mignini hasn't been involved in the Knox trial for quite some time as somebody else did the first appeals trial (I think) for the prosecution and now somebody else will do the prosecution for the 2nd appeals trial. it's funny and weird that you gusy spend so much time attacking Mignini when he's got nothing to do with Knox now. yeah, he made her cry back in 2009 or so but it seems prudent to focus on her defense and not attacking the prosecuter personally. show me when that kind of stategy ever won the day in a murder case.
