It seems MaGZ is going around bumping year-old nazi-threads with single line comments. Odd behavior.

Yiddish is close to German and was even closer back then, it only would have been secret in written form but then again the masses couldn't even read in their native language.

I think the only big reason not yet mentioned in this thread is that in the minds of bigots, the Jews look different (see Jack Chick cartoons for references).

Not only that they held mass in Latin until the 1960s so not only couldn't the masses read the Bible or anything else in the Middle Ages they did not understand what was said during the ceremonies either.


Unrelated to the above another reason for Anti-Semitism is that it is always convenient to blame outsiders (internal or external) for problems and Jews were the most visible outsiders around. It was also common for Jews to have contact with Jews in distant towns and even other countries which probably helped propagate the notion of an international conspiracy.

One of the more bizarre accusations:That Israel and Al Qaida are in cahoots agaisnt the Assad regime in Syria....
