Continuation Part 5: Discussion of the Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito case

Then this must be epidemic, if I think of Candace. :)

The rap against her is she lied about her age and when she received her degree. The barren of thought queen of the PGP has mentioned those things hundreds of times but loves her Barbie even though she has no significant journalism training or experience.

I don't think much of CD myself.

Offering an out of interest alibi would just emphasize your lack of alibi in the period of interest. That's why you shouldn't have to provide it.

It wasn't an alibi at all that's the point. Why lie about a time that didn't make any difference? They were in Raf's apartment at 6 am one way or the other, so why lie about it? As I said earlier, if I killed someone at 9:30 pm and then told the police I slept until 5:30 when in fact I got up with the dog at 2:30 am what difference would it make - or better if I hadn't killed my neighbor at 9:30 why would forgetting the dog make me look guilty?

We don't know at what time Amanda went out on the next morning.
There is just her version, Raffaele's version and Quintavalle's claim.

When did Raf have her going out? There is also the worker at the mart that said she wasn't there when Quintavalle said.

I think she did go out at some time, because Raffaele's semi-jealous remark in his diary seems to me genuine.
But when was it, how long was it, and where she was is full of problems.

What time are you talking about?

Isn't that just ducky

If all we knew of the PGP were this incident, that would be enough to draw a conclusion about their methods. Ms. Dempsey had a typo on her CV with respect to when she attended U of O, and that somehow morphs into lying about her age. Hello?

What time are you talking about?

The whole timing is gibberish.

Now in the book she says that she called Filomena and Meredith's both phones while walking to Raffaele. And Filomena called back while she was still at his house. That is at 12:20.

But then how could they have a breakfast and discussion of "about an hour"
when at 12:34 they were already in the cottage's cell?

She now even dropped into the story a new call to her mother before anything started (even before the first call to Filomena, even before she knew that anybody had broken into her room).
This call never was discussed before.

It is complete nonsense.

That is so bizarre. The police find a girl naked in her bedroom in a pool of blood, and the obvious suspect is her female housemate? I sometimes wonder what planet these people are living on.

Most murders are committed by someone the victim knows.

And what does the above have to do with the murder? Why in the world would she ever have lied about those times and even more so why in her book?

There is no doubt or question that she called Filomena well before the PP arrived. The old meme was always that they were interrupted while still cleaning, which has totally been debunked because there was little or no cleaning and they certainly weren't using the mop or bucket to clean the cottage.

The twists PGP need to go through to explain why she didn't wipe off the blood on the faucet and in the sink or for that matter throw the mat into the shower and soak it to get rid of the footprint if it was Raf's are a sight to behold.

So the biggest issues you can come up with are mixed up times when no crime was being committed, is that right?

If she had a perfect timeline, you'd say she made it up with the help of her co-writers and editors.

Just wanna lob this in for Grinder's benefit. The first time Patrick crops up in the questioning of Amanda is the night of 05-06 Nov, according to the book. Did we have anything riding on that?

I believe you need to mail me the keys to the Rolls.

Wrong way round Grinder. You maintained the exchange of texts must have come up in the days preceding 05-06 Nov but it didn't. The cops affected to not even know who Patrick was during the interrogations. I agree a Rolls should cover it.

Please refer me to the thread spot where we discussed this so I can see for myself and the context.

What's with all this British car crap? I think a Cadillac XLR would do the trick.

(...lamentation cut ...)

If you want to take this one at a time, fine. Explain how someone removes their own forensic DNA profile from a murder room, while leaving another one fully intact?
I don't think they participated in the actual murder. Raffaele most likely was not even there at that time.
The prosecution's theory is wrong, no wonder they could not prove it.
So.... lessee if I have this straight.

The facts of the case as found at trial are a "lamentation". I do believe that's a first, then again this case is filled with them.

And now Raffaele isn't even part of the crime.

I do believe you've just come here to bag on Candace Dempsey for a typo on her resume, and to defend Barbie Nadeau.

Have I got this right?

Well, from the horse's mouth, i.e. Amanda's book, we know now that they were making love and then fell asleep. Keeping a screensaver off is an extremely refined way of making love or sleeping.
No talk of dawn music, either.

I have my screensaver set to trigger after 1 minute of inactivity, but it will not trigger at all if I am streaming a radio station through Windows Media Player, regardless of whether I am anywhere near the keyboard or mouse. If I pause the radio stream, the screensaver triggers correctly.

If you read your link carefully again I think you will see that I was saying that Patrick must have been mentioned before the 5th but not the texts. As far as the texts were concerned I said by then the police must have had the records but not the content.

The thrust of the question is clear: he is asking why she never mentioned Patrick before the night of the 5th-6th. If you want to believe she mentioned the texts but not who they were with, fine, but I suggest that's unlikely and entirely inconsistent with her evidence at trial at which it is clear, whichever of her inconsistent accounts you consider, the texts were, or appeared to be, new information so far as the police were concerned.

In fact I thought it the other way around that she surely had mentioned Patrick as her boss but not necessarily the text to her and certainly not the specific words of her reply, which is what was their bazinga moment.

The translator I was referring to was PG from the other side.

I would like Barbie, Andrea, John F, Pisa, Squires et al. to tell us where and from whom they received the early leaked details on the case.

Well it took me long enough to dig up that link and I'm not going hunting for more, but in any case, you were still wrong. The cops affected not to know who Patrick was during the interrogation of 05-06. If we agree they knew the records but not the content then we can see the whole thing that night was a set up.

I am still mulling over the deleted text thing in light of Amanda's account, which certainly has some new points and is a clearer account than she gave at trial, unsurprisingly considering the chaotic nature of her examination.
