Biblical Flood? Fish, squid, and shrimp fossils in the mountains of Lebanon and Peru

For the record, not all Christian apologists believe the flood was global, some believe it was local. Dr. Hugh Ross believes it was a local flood.

DOC, what do you believe? When was the Earth created? When did humans appear? Did the flood really happen? If so, when? Was it global or local?

Yes, some Christians are quite in touch with reality in comparison with young earth creationists like the Hovinds, Ian Juby, Ken Ham, Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron, and Jonathan Sarfati. Since you started the thread, I assumed you were sympathetic to this patent nonsense. Perhaps you want to acknowledge what a load of baloney it is and we can call it a day?

Yes. That's becuase, as you have already shown, the bible contains fiction to explain things. That we shouldn't take any of it seriously becuase it is just a bunch of "theological constructs". (Aka made up fairy tales.)

DHe then goes on to massage the dates to get YcA and mEve at the same date (completely misunderstanding what they are, of course).

Your opinion is noted but when I read the article I don't see him completely misunderstanding anything.

Barach Obama, Jimmy Carter. and George W. take it seriously.

This.

Until you answer it, DOC, all that's going to happen is you posting random tidbits of what "some Christians believe", and when someone debunks it you'll say that it isn't necessarily what you believe (or else it's someone's opinion) and isn't it interesting that this famous person or that PhD or so many posts/books/bibles etc...

Please, DOC, help us end the artful dodging.

Answer zooterkins post. Tell us what you are arguing for in this thread. Specifically.

So, if it was a local flood what is all your drivel about supersonic plate tectonics, fish fossils at the top of mountains and the fountains of the earth about?

How much about population genetics do you understand? I mean, a reader needs to have a basic understanding of a topic in order to recognize an author's misunderstandings, yes?

Given the examples posted in this thread thus far, I would hazard a guess that the answer to my first question is "none".

OEC's frustrate me more than YEC's at times. "God created the whole universe and just stood back and watched it grow." Really? 14 billion years go by before humans show up, but they're supposed to be special in God's eyes? How does that work?

And whatever the scale of the flood, do you believe it wiped out all humanity except for Noah's family and their floating menagerie? Enough twisty, turny cherry picking - what do you think?

Which says nothing about the article.

Just for a start, as has already been pointed out, the author identifies mitochondrial Eve with the biblical Eve. This is nonsensical since mitochondrial Eve is not a fixed individual, and will change depending on which descendants are still alive.

And, to repeat:

I am not sure why you should care what other people believe when it doesn't impact on you. Young earth creationism on the other hand is a movement with a political agenda to propagate belief in bad ideas and have them given equal standing in science classrooms.

Completely stupid question from a stupid person: What about monotremes? Are they a separate type of mammal?

They're a more primative type of mammal. What I mean is, they retain many ancestrial traits that later mammals do not, including egg-laying and a few others. They are, in essence, a transitional form from reptile to mammal (though very much after the mammals split from reptiles).

One interesting thing about the mammalian lineage is that one of the more famous "dinosaurs" in our brightly colored bag of plastic ones - Dimetrodon - isn't a dinosaur and actually is more closely related to us than dinosaurs.

Barach Obama, Jimmy Carter. and George W. take it seriously.

But the source you used in this thread doesn't.
Do you agree with that source, or do you merely agree with the parts you like and ignore the parts you don't like? Even though those parts are the same parts.
