Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

People who call themselves "Freedom Fighters" who indiscriminately target civilians are terrorists, whether or not their supporters believe they are freedom fighters. End of!

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your definitions. I'm speculating on what might be motivating people who want to "Free Jahar!". And that it might have very little, if anything, to do with violated rights, FBI setups or fraternal hypnotism.

Look, people are posting pictures of themselves, pointing out the uncanny resemblance they have to Suspect #2. The idea that there is a credible threat to people who had their pictures taken with a backpack at the Boston Marathon is ludicrous, even if they did get some early play with no names attached. This guy's fifteen minutes of fame is over, it's time to move on.

You don't think a valid argument can be made that this type of mass social media "investigation" is fraught with threats to personal privacy and security? Especially considering the character of those "investigators" in the Conspiracy community.

Gee, a law enforcement professional?

Could you not find a picture of Gomer Pyle saying "hooty hoot"?

Don't ever remember Gomer saying that.
I do remember gawlly and surprise, surprise, surprise

Yep, you're right. He's getting his gormless plonkers confused

It was Andy Griffiths, and his deputy Barney Fife (played by Don Knotts) who use to say "Hootie hoo"

Gomer Pyle was a recurring character in the Andy Griffiths Show

Michael Savage is the worst. That is one sick puppy.

I used to listen to him on my drive home all the time. Not because I agreed with him, but because I didn't want to miss it if he had an aneurysm on live radio. What with all the screaming fits he throws.

If you organize a process as a feedback loop it is inevatably going to amplify noise. The process needs to be organized as a filter to reduce the data with official feedback channels that verify the results. If you don't organize an official process, one will self organize and the results will be pretty much what we have seen. The alternative is to restrict data to the point where the only information available is the conspiracies created from the void.

I'm only guessing here, but it could be that many people simply find it hard to believe that their friend (or the guy described in media reports) really is capable of this sort of despicable act. They think he's been misidentified or, more likely, framed.

If you check out the website, they include the various photos picked out by internet sleuths as likely suspects. Those photos would be irrelevant if your message was: yes, he did it, but he shouldn't be punished.

I'm reading in British on-line newspapers that the FBI are hunting a 12 strong terrorist cell associated with the Boston bombers

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/4...s-tamerlan-dzhokhar-tsarnaev-sleeper-cell.htm

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/boston-bombers-fbi-hunting-12-strong-1844844

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...error-sleeper-cell--citys-mayor-says-own.html

But I am not getting this from any of the regular US news outlets available in this country....Fox, CNN, CNBC.

I know that the flail and the mirror aren't extactly reliable news sources, but what is the story here?

Well, it's old news for starters.

I wouldn't really believe anything at this point unless it's explicitly said by a law enforcement officer in an official statement.

We'll know what happened when the trial is over in a couple of years.

Anyone who has seen a friend's personality totally change when they have joined a religious cult can probably undertsand a little of what some of these people must be feeling.

As far as I followed it. That appears to come from the suspect having a common phone billing with the other members of the "cell". This could simply be that suspect #1 had a job that provided his cell phone. Any real terrorists that's smart enough to keep from blowing themselves up is smart enough to not create links to the rest of the organization.

The kids in the car were just his college friends. The "Terrorista #1" UMass Dartmouth license plate was a gag plate like the kind you can get at gift shops, and is almost certainly a reference to "Harlem Shake".

That makes more sense. Still kinda weird though.
