Biblical Flood? Fish, squid, and shrimp fossils in the mountains of Lebanon and Peru

Doc, are you going to serve me a copypasta answer to my marsupial question too? I have checked and there are some sickeningly intellectually dishonest answers out there. What a complete embarrassment to your young earth creationism world view. There is absolutely no hiding behind clever arguments in a discussion about a global flood. This is stuff that can be understood and debunked by curious pre-schoolers. What an embarrassment for your worldview. What were you thinking by starting such a thread?
The only explanation is he gets "Heaven Points(tm)", redeemable at your local paradise.

We have lots of limestone here in Missouri, so much that it was mentioned "Deep Impact". "The Creation Resources Museum" near Springfield is a fun place to visit. I went there once with PZed. (He was visiting Skepticon IV.) When I asked the "tour guide" about this he said that it could have been laid down in a few days, "sedimentation" being the word he misused. Now there's this about limestone, it's mostly made up of the skeletons of tiny seacreatures. For these creatures to have reproduced enough to make hundreds of feet of limestone they would have to have accumulated faster than interest charges on a Capital One card.

John D. has the answer to that one, Gawdzilla.
"At the end of the Flood, after thick sequences of sediments had accumulated, the Indian subcontinent evidently collided with Asia, crumpling the sediments into mountains. Today they stand as giants—folded and fractured layers of ocean-bottom sediments at high elevations. No, Noah's Flood didn't cover the Himalayas, it formed them!"

That must have been quite a sight!
I can imagine the inhabitants of Jericho chilling out on their rooftop terraces, sipping datepalm wine and watching the greatest show on Earth.

That doesn't address the issue of sea creature reproduction rates.

Different species of marine life live in different areas of the world's oceans.

That's of course why we have only invertebrates in the North Sea and bone fish in the Mediterranian. Ehm, wait... No?

Gawdzilla, what part of "thick sequences of sediments had accumulated" doesn't answer that issue?

Anyway, Doctor Dave has more to say about this

He also knows why God put a rainbow in the sky

"...Consider that the world was "broken." To the extent that we enjoy relative stability now, they had none then. It would perhaps have taken several centuries for Earth to settle down to the pseudo-equilibrium in which we now live. Remember that the jet streams must be stabilized. The ocean currents must find their "paths of the seas" (Psalm 8:8). The continents must halt their rapid horizontal movements and cease their vertical rebounding. In particular, the oceans must give up their excess heat, which drove such violent storm patterns.

It was into this unstable world Noah and his family was placed. No doubt earthquakes were common. Of necessity they lived in tents, for buildings could not be made stable. Wood was in short supply and rock structures were the least safe.

Rainfall continued its intensity, with swollen streams and violent storms. Calculations show that the ocean's heat would take at least 600 years or so to dissipate, and that during this period the "Ice Age" dominated. Job lived soon after the Flood, and his book contains more references to ice and snow than the rest of the Bible put together. Up until perhaps the time of Abraham the world was a dangerous place. Continual catastrophes dominated their lives.

No doubt they needed reassurance that there would never be another Flood like the Great Flood of Noah's day, for it must have seemed they were still in it. Thus it was out of God's grace and mercy that He instituted this beautiful reminder of His protection. And every time they saw a majestic rainbow it would remind them of the security they have in Him. And what a blessed thing it is to rest in that certain knowledge."

Let me understand this.

You are hoping to find evidence of a story where god kills nearly all living creatures, except those that fit on a single boat.

Doctor Dave, the CEO of ICR, doesn't have any problem with that.
Why should you? ;)

Granted, according to his bio at ICR the man " is best known for leading expeditions to Mt. Ararat in search of Noah's Ark"

DOC, I must wonder why you started a thread on this rather than make this a discussion for the "Evidence ..." thread. It is almost like you are trying to distance yourself from that thread. I wonder why?

Next question then. Why do marine fossils from all over the globe match each other once you look at the geological age of the sediments rather than geographical location?

Another problem is the accumulation of guano that gave rise to the nitre beds of the Peruvian coast. Imagine a huge assemblage of seabirds with diarrhoea laying these structures down all at once ...

This PhD in Geological Engineeringhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_D._Morris#cite_note-5 disagrees:

Did Noah's Flood Cover the Himalayan Mountains?

"Geological engineering"? Not exactly a field with a deep understanding of tectonics. Every stratigrapher, structural geologist, paleontologist, and everyone else who has a PhD in geology and has studied that mountain range (and every other one) has agreed that the marine deposits are in them due to tectonic activity. Not always pushing upwards, either--the Basin and Range mountains were created by the valleys sinking as much as the mountains rising.

Also, no. There are numerous studies of the erosional rates vs. the rate of rise of the Himalayan Mountains. The chemistry they find can only occur when at least part of the erosion occurs subarially.

Different species of marine life live in different areas of the world's oceans.
Not that different, actually. I'll grant you that species analysis would show dramatic differences, but guild analysis shows remarkable similarities.
