Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

Police cornering a guy hiding in a shrink-wrapped boat in the town where a massive man-hunt is taking place and the media saying it "might" be the bomber got you that upset?
It could have been someone else bleeding from gunshot wounds and napping in a boat and then shooting at the police when they checked it out.

We won't know until we read the investigation in a peer-reviewed science journal.

Define "everything". His friends and teammates describe him as supportive and amiable.

The dude planted a bomb in the middle of a crowd of families enjoying the day. That appears to be the very definition of sociopathy.

The facts are still scarce about this boy's motivations but everything seems to point to sociopathy, not jihadism, as his disease. If there is a conspiracy afoot here it seems to me to be one of mentally disturbed teenagers, not Al Queda.

Just because people don't dismiss him recently getting into radical versions of Islam, favoriting many extremist Islamic videos on his youtube account, claiming 9/11 was an inside job to make Americans hate Muslims, and following a cleric who teaches extremist views does not make people conspiracy theorists.

These are all things that can plausibly lead to such acts. He fits the profiles perfectly. That doesn't prove it was the cause, but it's certainly so far the most plausible. As opposed to yours about him being mentally disturbed which contradicts all the evidence.

My guess is that the 2nd suspect probably would not have carried this out though without the influence of his brother. I have no proof of that, but it's my guess. I suppose that makes me a conspiracy theorist?

Bill Maher and Glenn Beck both jumping all over the "it's the Muslim, stupid" angle at this point appears to me to be evidence of a Conspiracy Theory in the making. The extent to which you nod your head would determine whether you are one too.

Ah, so presenting evidence that points in that direction and saying it's plausible is nodding a head.

Is that your logic? Ignore all evidence and as soon as anyone mentioned Muslim, jump on the "they're conspiracy theorists" bandwagon?

Kind of hypocritical isn't it?

Ah yes, the friend who decided not to report her suspicions because the Internet sleuths had already identified suspect 2 as Sunil Tripathi? That one?
I haven't heard of that one, and suspect you may have invented her to justify your indignation at the fact that people in a free society sometimes choose to exercise their freedoms in ways which you don't approve.

No, I had in mind Rebecca Mazur, who said "I saw the pictures last night and thought it looked kind of like him, ut I felt mean even thinking that the person in the photos looked like him."

Another classmate, Eric Mercado, said "The [white] hat was a signature, turned backwards on his head always." I'm sure lots of people wear white hats turned backwards, yet you maintain that identifying the logo on the hat in the FBI photos couldn't conceivably help someone who knew the suspect be more confident about making an identification.

I also had in mind the auto body mechanic, who didn’t recognize them from the first set of pictures released on Thursday.

“I look at pictures, the FBI put on website, I wasn’t sure. One picture from suspect two, I saw his nose, and I remember he got a big nose, and this morning I woke up and I see the picture that they had from 711 last night and I knew.”

He only wishes now the pictures had come out before Tuesday. Maybe then, one police officer would still be alive and another uninjured.

Stupid reporter just said because he hasn't been read the Miranda Warnings, he doesn't have the right to remain silent.

Boy are these people stupid. You ALWAYS have the right to remain silent, as per the 5th Amendment!!!!

They didn't read him his rights for one reason: so they can get info about more possible explosives or terrorist connections, without his statements being used as evidence or for more charges.

Basically the police are making a deal: you give us info and we won't use it against you.

Not ruling out the fundamentalist angle, but also, I am not ruling out the chechen nationalist angle and a couple more.
To me it seems that attacking an American target makes a lot more sense from a fundamentalist angle than from a Chechen nationalist one.

It wouldn't be the first time that someone from Chechnya had chosen to bomb a target in a Western country not related to Chechen nationalism either. There was the Hotel Jørgensen explosionWP here in Denmark a few years ago.

Obviously this doesn't in any way prove that fundamentalism was the motivation for the Boston Marathon attack. But it does mean it wouldn't be completely without precedent.

After this last week, I think (hope) the public has learned to not give much credence to anything these idiots say.

My opinion is that they joined the global jihad, and wanted to strike a blow against the evil empire.

This is what we know:

The older brother for some reason moved to Chechnya or Dagestan for 6 months last year, and the Russians thought he was involved in some kind of patriot games over there. They even asked the US to investigate him. He could have been radicalized while over there, possibly even trained. Also, the mother appears to be anti-government conspiracy nut and so was the son. The brothers also strongly identify with their Chechen roots, plus they are Muslims. Also, they appeared to have somehow come into money recently.

How many false identifications of that logo were made before the high resolution photo came out?

I'd be willing to bet that some of the surgeons and doctors will waive their fees. I've heard of just that happening in the past.

As the donation page says, they are less worried about immediate medical expenses and more worried about long term. This guy is going to have to have tons of PT, redesign his entire house (and possibly move), redesign his car, etc, etc.

This isn't just medical expenses. His entire life, and how he does regular everyday things, is going to shift - and it's going to be money that makes the transition easier.

I didn't see any. I saw people here, I think, arguing about whether it was a 7 or a 3 on the side, but the only ID I ever saw of the logo itself was a polo pony.

Maybe you could link to some of the false identifications. I haven't read the whole discussion over at Reddit, but what I did see was a quick consensus on the polo hat.
