Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

White hat? You're doing it again, the suspect in front has khaki pants and the Bridgestone golf hat in AdMan's image.

I was about to post though, that the hat logo doesn't match after all.

Hard to know with 100% certainty, but I'd say it's very close.

Good catch! I think you're right.
It makes no sense. A bag on the ground inside the fence might end up getting pushed under the fence, but no one would set their purse down on the other side of the fence from where they were standing. It's completely illogical.

I do not like the way you think on this one and throughout this thread. You seem opposite of critical thinking. Fast and spastic without giving much thought.

Place your stuff on the "other side" because...

1. It's out of everybody's way.
2. You don't have to hold it or keep special watch on it.
3. Nobody other than a marathon runner could snatch it.

I tried a Google image search on your hat picture, and wow, it comes up with the FBI photos.

We're talking about the guy's hat crouching in the doorway. There are no side stripes and the single letter or thing on the front of the hat is not as big as the B in your image. Whereas the Bridgestone hat does match suspect 1's hat.

But they guy in the doorway doesn't have a white hat. It might be lighter but it isn't white.

On another note, they FBI said the bomb was placed "in front of the Forum restaurant." I think if it was that bag by the post box, they would have said in front of the barrier, but that isn't what was said. I think the bag by the post box might be a red herring. Maybe.

Normally yes. But from personal experience, I can tell you that behind that fence on race day people are crammed cheek-to-jowl, and there may be literally no room -- not so much as a single square foot -- on which you could place a parcel without laying it on someone's unsuspecting feet. One time my friends were supposed to pick me up at the finish line to drive me home. They were no more than 100 yards away, and we still couldn't get to each other, the press of the crowd was so impenetrable. I ended up hitching a ride with another acquaintance I happened to blunder into instead.

If I were jammed up against the fence like that, I might very well set my backpack down on the other side, where there's plenty of room (and the fence is so low you can still fetch it easily).

Well, it's all over the Internet and Twitter, so not surprised Google has picked up on the connection. :D

Obviously you aren't female and you don't carry a purse.

As for you not liking the way I think, tell me why I should give a rat's ass?

Come on.. it is only three people killed!
Anyone spending more than 5 minutes on such news should have, IMHO, his/her head examined

Before I post my thoughts, can you tell me if this post is poe, or some other kind of ********** up performance art?

Some ridiculous comments on news articles covering this. One for example claimed they were disgruntled ex-soldiers because he had the backup slung over one shoulder like a rifle!

The best comment I saw though noted that, based on the comments, the men's race is "rorschach"!

I have a backpack that I carry my camera in when I sightsee. That's how I carry it. I am neither an ex-soldier nor disgruntled. In fact, I'm quite gruntled.

Exactly.

It's too blurry of an image to tell. She has it on her knee outside the barrier and then it's not there, so maybe, it might be safer there than by your feet where you can't see it.

Either way, I don't think that bag is the bomb after all.

And what experience in Law Enforcement do you have, guy?
If you want to defend "Don't want to spook them" let's hear it. The claim that one needs law enforcement (excuse me, "Law Enforcement") experience to know that a precise description of someone's attire will be enough to alert the person who sported that attire that the police are scrutinizing him doesn't pass the snort test.

If that person also planted a bomb, he had twenty four hours to head for the hills without the possibility that the public would recognize him. If he had help planting the bomb, both of them got twenty four hours notice before their images became public. If you don't think that's incompetent, let's hear your justification.

If your justification is "Well, they have Law Enforcement experience, so they must know what they're doing," a couple of women delivering morning papers here in my neck of the woods have reason to disagree.

They need to hire Ron Burgundy as their anchorperson the way they are going.....
What experience in Broadcast Journalism do you have, guy?

This is the very definition of looking at events in hindsight and coming up with nefarious coincidences. Why would you expect all these minor details to make completely logical sense? The ladies behind the fence probably gave setting their bags down there as much thought as we give to the vast majority of semi-conscious acts throughout our lives.

As a thought experiment watch a select person you spend much time with and see how much stuff they do without thinking about first. See how little of it is the optimal or most logical option to take.

This kind of thing is the basis of the conspiracy forum.

Also the NY Post is an absolute disgrace.
