"An envelope that tested positive for the deadly poison ricin was intercepted Tuesday afternoon at the U.S. Capitol's off-site mail facility in Washington, congressional and law enforcement sources tell CNN.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he was told the letter was addressed to the office of Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Mississippi. After the envelope tested positive in a first routine test, it was retested two more times, each time coming up positive, the law enforcement source said. The package was then sent to a Maryland lab for further testing."

A letter for Obama has been found to have a "suspicious substance" on it as well.
 
Poisoned Letters

Well, two ricin-poisoned letters have been received. One for Senator Wicker and the other for President Obama.

Now, with 9/11 the anthrax letters were obviously a reaction to the events of 9/11 by somebody with a grudge against Liberals. They came enough days later to not have had to be in the mail before the event.

This time, I am not so sure. The bombings and the letters are close enough together in time to have had a coordinated origin.

What do you all think?
 
I read an article that says ricin tests can give false positives when testing paper because of similar chemicals used in paper production. Personally, I tend to doubt its actually ricin until more time and tests have passed.
 
They are reporting that there's a suspect already, evidently a known crank who has sent threatening letters in the past.
 
CNN has reported that both letters said "I'm K.C., and I approve this message."

The Obama letter has tested positive for Rincin.

The guy who is doing this (assuming it is one person) is Non Partisan.

We already have an arrest. From the speed with which he was caught,assuming this is the guy, he is not exactly the brightest criminal out there......
 
Ricin is a complex plant protein - composed of 2 proteins (Ricin A and Ricin B bonded together)

Problem is that as a plant protein there are several other plant proteins similar in structure to Ricin A

Ordinary wheat flour or barley may trigger tests for Ricin

It takes sophisicated chromotography to confirm Ricin ........
