DHS Preparing For Civil War In The US?

Oh I see, a conspiracy theorist's wet dream then, the culmination of years of paranoid musings, of deep seated hate for government and the belief that the vast majority of citizens (read: WASP) are like minded, who believe that the baby killers, McVeigh and Nichols are heroes who tried to start this civil war too soon.
Oh, no, now you understand it too!

I'm reminded of a truther some years ago that made the ominous sounding claim that the goverment had taken over the country when nobody was looking.

Actually the government was taken over by neoconsevative zionists while the populace's eyes were wide shut.

The government is not a sentient organization. It's think tank driven.

While I'm all for insulting the intelligence of humanity, saying they're not even sentient is too incorrect to work..

Despite over a dozen members of Congress demanding an explanation as to why the agency has purchased enough ammunition to wage a 20 year-plus war,

Ah yes, the DHS is purchasing enough ammo for a 20 year (hot) war meme.

This is a verbatim cut and paste from another forum, but it pretty effectively debunks the "20 year (hot) war" claim.

US on another forum said:
- You're repeating the viral meme wrong. Whoever wrote the first incarnation recently (it looks like Forbes) said 20 year of hot war. They don't know what the heck they're talking about because from 2001-2005 small arms needs of the DoD rose from ~775 million to ~1.8 billion per year.

- There is no stockpile nor are they stocking up. What they did was make a massive purchase over the course of 5 years to get a unit discount. Do the math 1.6 billion/5 years = 320,000,000/year or 1/2 what DoD needed in 2000 - before the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq had begun. This is for a cabinet level department that is comprised of:
The Coast Guard
The Secret Service
Transportation Security Administration
Immigration and Customs
Border Patrol
etc.

Could you see how such an entity might need 320,000,000 bullets for training and doing their jobs?

Oh man, the comments are awesome (and not in the good way).

Tell me people don't really think this way.

I mean, there's so much discussion on the webnet that eventually one will be populated with nothing but trolls, inadvertently trolling each other. Right??

Sadly no. There are literally hundreds of thousands of Americans who are convinced the Kenyan, Muslim, Marxist, userper is going to take away their guns - using the DHS "tanks" and 1.6bn rounds of ammo - round them up for being Patriotic and place them in FEMA death camps.

This is what Birtherism, Talk Radio, World Net Daily, etc. has wraught.

Those of us old enough to lived through the Clinton administration* remember the same paranoid rantings and fear mongering. Only back then it was limited to talk radio, Usenet and poorly photocopied newsletters.

* Ironically, most of those posting the comments to Facebook that are the most crazed with fear and false bravado, appear to be old enough to remember it themselves and that the imminant U.N./NWO invasion never took place.

It's the same "Any day now!" mindset that allows the various flavors of religious End of the World cults to keep believing, even though the world never ends when they say it will. They always find some excuse for why it didn't happen this time, and continue to be absolutely sure it will happen "Any Day Now!"

Do think tanks fire philosophical rounds or is their ammo more recondite?

Of course the invasion took place it was just so subtle that you haven't noticed 'cause that's how evil they are.

(If you have to ask who they are then you shouldn't be asking who they are)

I love your mutually exclusive statements,Clayton.
Even if you were correct and 'think tanks' are the driving force behind all government actions and policies, those committees are staffed with humans who are sentient beings.

Does government employ persons who research issues and then offer advisement to policy makers? YEP, they are called 'advisors' and have been part of governments for millenia.

We don't talk about that and you are hereby charged with 20 demerits and assigned to scrubbing the reptilians' shower room for a week.

Not to defend him, however he could have been prior enlisted. Not sure without seeing a bio.

Even so, I would have expected him to have progressed further than captain. Don't they usually bump a rank at retirement?

WOOO HOOOO

Pat Robertson, has gone "Plinker!"

And on Thursday, Robertson weighed in on the side of the conspiracy theorists, calling it “like something out of science fiction: long trains of full or armored vehicles, personnel carriers with armor.”

“What are they for, the Army going into battle against the enemy?” the TV preacher asked. “They’re used by Homeland Security against us!”

“Imagine what Homeland Security is doing, it’s just awful,” he continued. “We’re going to talk about how much ammunition they’re stockpiling. Who are they going to shoot? Us?”

Watch the idiots come out of the woodwork now!

Did you notice that the owner of that page is a retired Army officer? After 30 years, he retired as a captain.

Here are two resumes, details are a bit sketchy

Amazing that he claims to have seen combat in Vietnam and Afghanistan; US troops left the former 28 1/2 years before arriving in the latter.
