From the link:

What I am condemning as misogyny are e-mails and online posts that refer to feminists being raped, desires that they suffer from violence, attacking their physical attributes, and crude derogatory sexist language.
I can't find it but does anyone remember Rebecca Watson's sex doll video? It was one of the most disgusting and unprofessional things I've seen from a so called skeptic. It seems the trolling goes only one way.

Indeed, friend RandFan, and he seems quite willing to accept, with what seems little evidence, the claim that this trolling is actually coming from within the atheist/skeptic community - and that it is pervasive enough to require being addressed over and over.

More than a hundred pages for this thread? Keep going and it will soon have more posts than the entire aplus forum!:D

Not just him. I've seen more intelligent people going off the cliff. Both he and he are firmly in the aplus camp.

I thought there was a "Great Rift" between Carrier and the A+ crowd but I could be mistaken these 'he said, she said, he said, you're all liars" arguments tend to blur together in my mind.

Well, so much for progress for Samsa. Thay've decided that him responding to all their questions is just too much of a burden on them (whereas dogpilling is not a burden on outsiders). He is "filibustering" and they will invoke "closure" to shup him up. Which just doesn't make sense on an online forum.

Well, that first link's web "design" certainly took us back to the 90s.

Before Atheism was invented on the InterWeb. Who is "he" anyway, it appears to be mostly a list of links.

Are they really giving their own ignorance and lazyness as a reason for closing the discussion?
I hope I am missing something here.

"Cloture" /nitpick

You know I find The_Laughing_Coyote to be the most honest person in the "Shut Up Samsa" group, at least he outright said it instead of the stupid accusations of "filibustering".

It's not surprising to see that its Flewellyn leading the charge of the silencing brigade. Personally I'd think A+ would be far better served if said mod was to stand down, since it's quite clear that they are not willing to be impartial.

Also, does anyone else see the irony in someone from there saying "Brevity is a matter of courtesy and respect", while demanding that new people spend hours of their lives reading a basket of links?

Reading a few threads at A+ should be required before anyone complains about the moderation here. As I've said before, any JREF mod who behaved in such an arbitrary and capricious manner, closing threads willy-nilly and so on, would be stripped of their mod powers posthaste. We almost never close discussion threads here; the only exceptions are when things have degenerated beyond all salvation, or discussions that breach Rules 1, 2 or 9. Other than that, we try to stay out of the way and let people discuss whatever they choose (civilly and politely).

Is it this one?

Possibly not safe for work:

The bit about the sex doll stuff starts at about 4 minutes.
That's it. And besides being disgusting and unprofessional, she's a bit solipsistic assuming that every woman perceives the world as she does and insisting that every woman would have the vapors if a many politely asked them out to coffee in an elevator. She simply can't grasp that there are decent, moral human beings who do not share her fears.

Had she a more robust theory of mind, one capable of seeing the world though the eyes of others, had she less ego and less narcissism when she made her original statement about the elevator and simply said, "this is my opinion, but men, you might not want to do that" then none of this would have happened.

Here's a nifty summation of the JREF MA from earlier in this very thread, by Mr. Scott:

Most important IMO are A) Be civil and polite; B) Don't post anything obscene or swear; C) Stay on topic; D) "Address the argument, not the arguer"

If you do these four things, it's unlikely that you'll ever see much in the way of mod action.
