And once again Janadele, could you please, in the name of Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, for The Father in Heavens glory, answer my questions, from your own heart, instead of just parroting a book?

Who created Satan?

How many people of color are apostles?

Why weren't black people allowed to hold the priesthood?

Does skin color determine righteousness?

Are the words of all general authorities sacred truth, if not, why not?

How come god approved of plural marriage, but buckled under the weight of the US government? Is the government more powerful than god?

If you thought god told you to, would you take me and my families life?

You're correct; my error. Data on the lifespans of atheists and theists appear to be less than clear (culture is a critical factor). Data re. the suicide rate of atheists vs. theists is, however, perfectly clear: "Religiously unaffiliated subjects had significantly more lifetime suicide attempts and more first-degree relatives who committed suicide that subjects who endorsed religious affiliation. . . Subjects with no religious affiliation perceived fewer reasons for living, particularly fewer moral objections to suicide. This is one of several links that posit the same conclusion.

And here I thought the atheist lifestyle was carefree and brim with joy, the adherents having been freed of the guilt and self-denial that attends theists.

Sure they did. My only issue is trying to draw any kind of authentic meaning from these documents. We can say, "they wrote this" but it's a mistake to say, "they meant this."

Thank you! I saw it and loved it. I finally replaced my self-portrait for something maybe a little more light-hearted.
 
Brigham Young married dozens of women. You don't suppose he was other than human in his lusts do you? (I've read both 55 or 57 wives in total.)

He had 57 children by 16 different women.

Apparently many of them divorced the good man of god, the prophet.....how strange.

One of them, Ann Eliza Webb, when she sought divorce, the court ordered Brigham to pay $500 per month and all court costs.

He refused!

He was given a day in prison for it and charged $25 for contempt of court. He said, "Since plural marriage is against the law, I don'y have to pay for a divorce." (Laws of the land, huh.)

Can you imagine that. This is the man that represents god?!?! Sounds bery human to me.

That implies that Smith was fluent in Greek so he knew what the original writers wrote. Was he multilingual?

We are each responsible for our own salvation. The opportunities have been presented, and choices have been made NOT to understand, consider, believe, accept nor to listen. But to instead scorn, ridicule and belittle that which is sacred. The consequences of these choices are upon those who have made them, not upon the Lord's servants.

So let me make sure I get this straight.

God creates a bunch of imperfect beings and gives them a chance at "salvation" of some sort. He alone defines the criteria by which a person can be saved but any information about it given through vague allegorical self contradictory nonsense.

Why? What does he get out of it?

Why don't I just rehydrate a bunch of Sea Monkeys, pick one of them at random, tell that one a vague parable in English about a fish, a turkey baster, a one legged prostitute, and barstool, send him back into the tank to tell the rest of them, leave the tank alone for 20 generations of Sea Monkeys to go by, then on some random day reintroduce myself to them, tell the all I'm going to dump all the water out of their tank and only save the ones that compliment my haircut?

Because that is pretty what God seems to be doing.

You totally side stepped my questions. Can you not give an honest answer?

You were NOT born in sin. Your parents were regular people with strengths and weaknesses, just like you and I have. There is no magical sacred being keeping record of anything, including sin.

If your a good person, it's because you have some intelligence. You are creating & sustaining love, peace, kidness, understanding, tolerance. Or, at least I am.

I don't teach my children to fear some non existent being, but rather to stand on there own two feet. To appreciate the time we have, on the planet we are on, right here, and right now. We don't look for a reward for being good people. We don't walk around pretending we are saints.

There is nothing more sacred than you and me and everybody else, no exclusions.

You are free to be who and what you are and to try to be what you'd like to be.

You answer to no one but your own heart.

Don't spread racism. Don't give your whole life over to someone else to live.

You have one chance and that is it. Live by your own self. Why do you expect a reward?
 
BTW: skyrider, this sub thread started when Jenadele claimed that atheists are immoral. That is demonstrably untrue. Would you please acknowledge that her claim is false?
 
The word "atheists" was not mentioned.

Nor have you included the quote the post was in response to.
